Rating: Summary: I LOVED IT!!!! Review: I READ SAY YOU LOVE ME FIRST, AND NOW I AM GETTING THE REST OF THEM. I THOUGHT THAT IT WAS GREAT. I WANT TO KNOW WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO WRITE ABOUT JEREMY??? HOPE IT IS SOON AND I KNOW IT WELL BE GOOD.
Rating: Summary: Laughs, suspense and love....... Review: I'm a big fan of the Malory series by Johanna Lindsey. I was actually eagerly waiting for this novel to hit the shelves. The wait was worth it because it didn't dissapoint !! Everything about Derek and Kelsey made me sigh with pleasure. I found every bit as funny and romantic as the other 4 Malory novels. People who love the Malory series will not be dissapointed with this one. It showcases the younger 'rogues' of the family...
Rating: Summary: A MUST FOR HISTORICAL ROMANCE READERS! Review: This book is a very refreshing step away from the love-hate-love-hate plots that one usually finds in a romance.
Rating: Summary: leaves much to be desire Review: I was a bit dissapointed usually Johanna Lindsey books are very good but I found that it left much to be desired. It started off with a good interesthing idea that I've found to be quite unique, a younge woman autioning herself off to save her family, and luckly getting bought by a nice, handsome, rich, tittled younge man. But after that it sort of gets BORING. Everything you knew was just going to be alright when the main character gets kidnapped, this book didn't make me laugh or at least smile, nor did it make me cry, or hurrah it. I suggest that if your looking for a good read to not read this book.
Rating: Summary: Highly promising synopsis - but doesn't live up to it Review: There are other J. Lindsey's I really cherish, but this one doesn't make it. To me the characters don't come to live, I just can't feel them. Between Derek and Kelsey everything goes too easy, he's so besotted by her, he just gives in to his new feelings. At least she's outspoken, that's the one aspect of the story I liked. If you read the Malory sequels, you might be interested to know that all of this great family still are dashing men and happy to be married to headstrong ladies. To me it was just a bunch of too-good-to-be-trues. And the end? The happy end is such a firework of unlikely coincidences, even a romance-addict like me can't take it.
Rating: Summary: I loved the way Ms. Lindsey tied all the others in this one. Review: I've read all the Malory Novels. I liked this one the best. I loved the way Ms. Lindsey tied all the other Malory Novels in this one. This book makes me want to go back and reread them all over again.
Rating: Summary: Johanna does it again!!! Review: Like all the Malory, series, I was swept away by Derek & Kelsey!!! It was nice to see a return of the Malory's I miised them. And Jason is no longer just the stern head of the family. That was nice to see!! Well At least know we know where Derek gets his philandering ways??? I couldn't believe it when I read it!!!!
Rating: Summary: Totally Intriquing - From Start to Finish Review: I make it a firm point never to read 'romance' novels, but the storyline caught my attention. I was riveted to the book from beginning to end, finishing in it just two days. Kelsey's plight, leaves you wondering if you would do the same, given the situation. The interaction of the characters is amazing realistic, as anyone from a large family can attest to. I never found the story dragging - although once or twice I found the coincidences a little unrealstic. All in all, it was a wonderful story, totally engrossing and unfortunately, parts of it, (such as the sadism of Lord Ashford) a little bit too realistic. I would highly recommend it.
Rating: Summary: 5th Book in the Malory series Review: Orphaned and penniless after losing their parents in an accident that has become known among the ton as The Tragedy, Kelsey Langton and her younger sister, Jean, came to live with their aunt and uncle. But when circumstance threatened to leave them all homeless, she feared for her sister's welfare and therefore made the decision to sell herself and become some aristocrat's mistress.
When Derek Malory accompanies his cousin, Jeremy, to the House of Eros, the most notorious brothel in London, little did he know that the night was going to cost him the exorbitant amount of twenty five thousand pounds for it was the night that Kelsey was being auctioned off to the highest bidder. When Derek realizes that the highest bidder was the debauched Lord Ashford, he finds himself outbidding him for fear of the sick things that would befall Kelsey if she ends up with Ashford. And so Derek inadvertently finds himself with a mistress. But what Derek doesn't know is that Kelsey is actually part of the gentry. She, on the other hand, tries to keep her real identity for fear of bringing more shame to her family. Regardless of this, both find themselves falling in love.
Well, the story started out well. The whole auction plot is quite good and both characters are very likable. I liked how Derek acts like a real gentleman towards Kelsey, something that you wouldn't expect from a Malory.
The only problem is the involvement of the Malory clan wasn't handled properly in that they pretty much take over most part of the book. Not that I didn't enjoy their appearance, but I just skipped on the parts that recap the story of the previous books' main characters. But a welcome addition is the insight to Jason Malory's love life. It was good to know a bit more about Derek's father. And of course, it is always delightful to see the banter between James and Anthony. I still enjoyed reading this even though the secondary characters tend to overtake the main ones.
Rating: Summary: Awesome Review: One of the problems I had with this story is that we never knew or had insight to who Kelsey was. The author told us she and Derek got along and had chemistry but it was never illustrated to the reader. We knew Derek loved Kelsey but I had no idea why. Her personality did not shine through like Georgina's or Amy's or Reggie's. We got to know these women and had fun doing so. Kelsey came off as a tragic figure; a martyr, but she also lacked a spirit and love of life. Shoot, I didn't even know Kelsey's hair color into well into the book! C'mon Johanna, you need to play-up Kelsey in a future book to redeem yourself. ;)
Derek was putty in her hands (for some reason) and his devotion to her was seen nicely in the book. Its about time another Malory hero had blonde hair, I though the gypsies took over them all! LOL!
