Rating: Summary: A fun story to read in one afternoon Review: True Confessions by one of my favorite writers, Rachel Gibson was a fun story for me to read in one afternoon. When female tabloid reporter, Hope Spencer from California rolls into the mountain town of Gospel, Idaho in her fancy sportscar, Sheriff Dylan Taber, a single father and lawman, trying to live down his wild past finds himself having trouble dealing with the temptaion that is suddenly staring him in the face.
Rating: Summary: Another winner from Rachel Gibson Review: What a fun read! Ms. Gibson's Gospel, Idaho is full of offbeat characters who truly come to life under her skillful writing. The attraction between Hope and Dylan is utterly believable, as they are realistic characters with faults and doubts just like the rest of us. Steamy (but still believable) [love] scenes and some truly hysterical moments made this another Rachel Gibson book I just couldn't put down 'til the end!
Rating: Summary: Better than the rest Review: When I first ordered this book, I was concerned because of the "dry as toast" review. However, this book is fantastic. Rachel Gibson gets better with each book. These characters are richly drawn and well-rounded. The hero, while still a manly man sheriff, is significantly more interesting than some of Ms. Gibson's previous heros. Unlike the cop character from It Must Be Love, Dylan is not overly judgmental. He's also funny, loving, romantic and very good with his son. I only hope her next book can live up to the standard she set with True Confessions. The only reason this book doesn't get 5 stars is because of the "mystery" involving the deceased sheriff, which never goes anywhere.
Rating: Summary: A Good Romance Review: When you pick up a novel like True Confessions, you know what you are going to get--sassy heroine, hunky love interest, spicy sex scenes. Despite the general predictability of the romance genre, there is a lot of room for an author to distinguish herself from the pack and in True Confessions, Rachel Gibson has done just that. This is a fun, funny, well-written story and a very good read. The humor here is sharper than most. It's feather-light, sure, but again, you know you are getting that anyway. Enjoy.
Rating: Summary: Bite Into This Apple Review: Wow! Rachel Gibson is a great comic contemporary romance writer. She shows great mastery of the genre.
With "True Confessions" she writes an original story. And in Gospel, Idaho she's created one doozy of a small town. Wary of outsiders, Gospel citizens are Wrangler-wearing, honky-tonk loving, gun-toting, unrepentant cowpunchers. Tabloid reporter Hope Spenser drives into Gospel in her silver Porsche with her turquoise Tony Lamas, trying to get a little R & R and break her writer's block. She finds something more than that. The town sheriff, Dylan Taber, without trying, is "breaking the hearts of good women" everywhere. But he's just trying to keep the peace and raise an eight year old on his own. These two have very adult problems (Thanks Rachel Gibson!) but are drawn together in spite of themselves. Great sizzle throughout and mature handling of the storyline. To take a break from real-life worries, I recommend "True Confessions" to rejuvenate and renew. God Bless.
Rating: Summary: Snappy and Entertaining Review: Wow! This book moves the reader along. I was half way through it before I blinked! Rachel Gibson knows how to create tension and pull out the laughs. The characters were fleshed out and motivated by their own agendas - none of them were forced into their roles. And the love scenes and what led up to them were also well motivated. I loved this book and intend on buying more Rachel Gibson books.
