Rating: Summary: Great Book!!!! Review: This was my first Julie Garwood novel and I can't wait to read her other books. The Bride was the kind of story that made me laugh and cry. The characters are very feisty and independent, but very vulnerable at the same time. I had a hard time putting this book down.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Story! Review: Julie Garwood is a wonderful author! I am tired of the boy-hates-girl and girl-hates-boy, but isn't-the-sex-great formula. Garwood's characters are likable. The women are strong and intelligent, not nags and whiners. The men are handsome, strong, and considerate, not forceful beasts who are constantly angry. In this book, English born Jamie is selected by Scottish Lord Alec Kincade to become his bride. Since she is an intelligent woman, she determines to make the best of the situation. Alec admires Jamie's "grit" and determines to like her. Like becomes love. Admiration becomes passion. Jamie's determination and her fierce, but kind heart wins the respect of her people. Despite the fact that she is English, she finds love and acceptance in her Scottish home.
Rating: Summary: Another Great Garwood Book! Review: "The Bride" is just another example of Julie Garwood's flair for writing truly enjoyable stories. While some may complain that her stories all follow the same formula. I find them all different in their own ways. What her books do have in common, are strong heroines, gentle (at times,thick-headed) men, and interesting adventures throughout. In this story, our heroine, Jamie, is forced to marry Scottish laird, Alec Kincaid. While he see the marriage as an act of duty, he soon sees that he feels more for his wife than he wishes to admit. This story has a little of everything, romance, a murder plot, and a few surprises sprinkled throughout. I highly recommend this, and every other Julie Garwood book, to anyone that enjoys romance novels.
Rating: Summary: I loved this book! Review: I loved this book, you don't understand, it just makes your heart pound and ache with all the tenderness in this book and the romance and o! It was just fabulous! Julie Garwood is a genius when it comes to romances and I just love all her novels. I hope she comes out soon with another good one!
Rating: Summary: One Of THE Best Books I've Ever Read! Review: Julie Garwood is truly an amazing writer. She manages to enfuse, charm, humor, love, adventure, passion and so much more into her stories. The Bride was truely no exception. Jamie is such a charming character who maintains her head-strong personality throughout, even when she is first married to Alec and knows nothing of him. Her hilarious misadventures will have you laughing till you cry and her strength of will will make you proud to be a woman. Garwood portrays Alec wonderfully as a strongly passionate man and leader while showing his lovable side through his tolerance and amusement in Jamie's antics. He's the type of man every woman would feel safe with and yet not controlled. Jamie is constantly persuading him to let her have his way and he keeps telling himself that it is the last time he'll bend to her will, but he often obliges her wishes, finally realizing how much he loves her. But what will happen when her English betrothed comes to claim her?
Rating: Summary: DELIGHTFUL!! Review: Julia Garwood out did herself on this one. Its funny, and takes your breath away. Because of her fathers forgetfulness to pay his taxes, Jami is forced to marry a scotsman, the barbarian, savage kind. hahah. Alec is totally captivated by Jami's beauty, and her violet eyes entrap him. He is surprised by her spirit, and her courage to stand up to him. Jami is a brave lass, that will stand up to anyman, woman, or beast, that get in her way. She will make you laugh, and the story will make you cry. As love blooms between these too, its the fifth war Jami starts that she hopes she can win. You must read this one, a great book. Hey, I have read it at least three times.
Rating: Summary: I laughed, sighed, and cried joyously Review: This book was one of the best I've read! Jamie was a joy, I found myself smiling and shaking my head over her innocence and schemes. (But Alec promises not to lose his temper) HA HA! Delightful! I found Alec truely wonderful. Strong, sensitive and the dreamiest man (wish he were real). Believe me you will laugh, the way the supporting characters come to her aide is so hilarious. Yet I promise you they will make you cry. I finished this book a few days ago and have found it difficult to get into another one. It is one you can add to your collection and treasure for years to read again! Maybe, just maybe a trip to Scotland is in order! :o)
Rating: Summary: Julie's best Review: Jamie, the youngest (adopted) daughter of Baron Jamison, is chosen by Scottish laird Alec Kincaid to be his wife. One of his men chooses her wimpy sister Mary for his bride, in one of the most hilarious scenes ever. Jamie copes with being attacked during their way home, with Alec's child by his previous wife, all with calm and understanding and earns not only her husband's love, but his respect as well. She and Alec are a wonderful couple, very well-matched despite all their "obvious" differences, and this is the best of all the Garwood books.
Rating: Summary: Great Great Book. One of my favorites Review: I love all of JG's books, and this was definately one of her best. Jamie was wonderful, I loved her as soon as she was introduced. Alec was one of those all time heroes that stay in your mind forever. Wouldn't it be nice if we all had heroes like that? The plot was spectacular, and the twist at the end was amazing, i didn't see it coming! Read this wonderful love story, it will be a "keeper" on your book shelf forever.
Rating: Summary: Definatly One Of Julie's Best Books! Review: I loved, LOVED, this book. Jamie was wonderful and I thought it was fabulous that she kept her family together the way she did. Alec is one of the best male heroes in any of the romance books that I have read, and I thought he and Jamie were perfect for each other. I also love the Scottish setting and I wish JG would have more of her books take place there. To sum the book up in one line, Great, Fabulous, Must Read For Any Romance Fan!
