Summary: The Attractions and Problems of Open Bisexuality
Review: Caution: This book contains a great deal of explicit heterosexual and lesbian sex. The book's language is also filled with explicit sexual imagery. There is also coarse language in many places. If such things offend you, you should definitely avoid this book. You will find it a one-star effort.

Intensity. That's what's special about this book. Anyone reading Between Two Lovers will feel their emotions being crushed by a vise several times the size of themselves. Whether you agree with or disagree with what the characters are doing, you will find yourself being drawn into their compulsive world of love and love-making. Once again, Eric Jerome Dickey has turned the written word into a compelling experience with life.

Between Two Lovers will be most appealing to those who are wondering what it is like to be permanently inflamed by love, women who have wanted to experience physical love-making with other women, and those who are wondering how you can cool a harmful passion. The plot seemed quite realistic and thorough in addressing all of the perspectives that will come to bear: religious, familial, desire for children, how to please two people at once who are in competition, and the siren call of greater sensual pleasure.

After you finish this book, step back and think through what your core values and beliefs are. Use the story to test yourself on what you would have done differently from the three main characters of the unnamed author, Nicole, and Ayanna. If you are older, you might also want to think about what you would have done if you were Nicole's mother or the author's father.

Give and receive love that builds your spirituality . . . as well as your personal connection!

Summary: Great Read
Review: This was the first Eric Jerome Dickey novel that I had ever read. I loved it. Nicole is the main character of a love triangle that suprisingly consists of another man and another woman who are both in love with her. The lies and emotions involved in this novel were displayed very realisticly. I loved the novel and I have gone on to read other novels by this author.

If you are up for a good read and want to laugh, cry and knod your head in understanding this is the perfect book for you. Enjoy!! I did.

Summary: What the #$#@?
Review: That's about all I could say about this book. I know it started off to be kind of slow, but wasn't the first couple of pages full of very detailed sex scenes? I can't really remember I gave it to someone to read. It was good and well written, I just had a difficult time getting use to EJD'S new style of writting. It was different, to say the least. You know I didn't even realize the narrator was nameless until I read some of the reviews, funny huh? Is that a bad thing?

I thought the narrator was about a fool. What man or woman would put up with self-centered Nicole? I don't know of one. She was a ridiculous character and so shallow. Tried to justify her selfish behavior by telling both her lovers how confused she was 'Please feel sorry for me'! Oh Paleeez! Ayanna's character was cool with me at the beginning, she wasn't puttin' up with nameless at all. Then she got dumb on us.

Although the characters all drove me to drink, I couldn't put it down. It wasn't typical EJD, for sure.

Summary: One of His Best!
Review: I must commend Eric Jerome Dickey on writing such a challenging novel. His command of the English language is remarkable in this novel. As one reviewer has stated, he paints a picture with his words. For me, this was one of Eric Jerome Dickey's finest novels. I have had the book for over a year and recently finished it. I think I procrastinated starting the novel because I was a bit disappointed with Liar's Game, but I was pleasantly surprised with Between Lovers.

He took a very sensitive, taboo and every man's fantasy subject and made it real. He gave us an honest portrayal of three people caught in a love triangle. He explored how love can be different for each person involved. He showed us love is love no matter the sex. He brought to life the controversy and stigmas and judgments involved in homosexual relationships and in behavior that is considered taboo or freaky.

Eric Jerome Dickey wove a tapestry of love and its complications. I also love the style he used with this particular book, because we know the narrator but we don't know his name and that adds to the mystic and beauty of the novel. To Eric Jerome Dickey, a job well done. Beautiful book and story!

Summary: Disappointed Dickey Fan
Review: I love all of Eric Jerome Dickey's books except for two. This book is one of the two. I did not like any of the characters and the book is sexually over the top.

Summary: EJD HAS SOME IMAGINATION!
Review: EJD keeps getting better and better. Just when I thought he could not top Friends & Lovers, he's proved me wrong with Between Lovers. This very complicated 3 way love triangle is DA BOMB! EJD has a very vivid imagination and makes me wonder where did he really get this story from, let me tell ya. The book starts off slow and does'nt truly begin until the character Ayanna comes into play (she's fierce).

With this novel, Nicole is the focal point of a love triangle, with two lovers-one male the other female (talk about putting a twist on things). For the life of me, I still don't get what was sooo special about Nicole, because I did not particulary care for her as a character. She was extremely selfish, but whatever it was, she had her lovers HOOKED beyond reason (talk about some serious love). The erotica in the book was EJD at his best.

This book is not for the prude, but the open-minded. If you can read E. Lynn Harris then you'll love this book. BIG UPS EJD!

Summary: A change from his norm, but still a geat read
Review: Unlike Eric Jerome Dickey's other novels, Between Lovers is only told from one point of veiw, but don't let that turn you away. It is the story of one man's struggle to grow out of an unhealthy relationship. His former fiance is now living in San Fransico with her new girlfriend. And the male narrattor is visiting her and struggling with the changes in the girl he used to love and the woman he sees now. All three characters go through tremendous growth in this book, and at times I missed the female point of veiw. But at it's heart this book is about him and his role in all of these changes.
Mr. Dickey retells a classic tale (the love triangle) with a modern day twist. For those who have problems with the lesbian storyline, once you've read the book you'll see why it's pivitol to the storyline. Because his girlfriend's new lover is a woman, he can't resort to testosterone and fight for her like a man. This forces him to fight for her on a romantic and intelectual level. That makes this book a must read for any woman who wanted to understand what it really means "when a man loves a woman" and any one who's ever broken someone's heart.

Summary: Very disappointed
Review: What kind of crap is this? Pure junk! I really want to like Eric Jerome Dickey's books, but no matter how I try, I just can't. This is the 4th book I've tried and it's so painful to read, so idiotic and ridiculous, I'm ticked off that I wasted my money. No more EJD for me!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: more like 3.5
Review: this isn't my favorite book from Dickey. It's not that it is a bad read, I'm just not sure how realistic it is. I don't know any man who is just gonna accept that the woman he loves is in a twisted, very odd relationship with someone else. Neither lover, in my opinion, is going to be that patient while the person in the middle takes her sweet time to figure out what she wants.

Having said that, this book is, once again, a pure display of Dickey's genius. It is an original look at the very typical love triangle. Dickey does an excellent job of showing both sides of the situation, as well as explaining why the chice is a difficult one on the part of the woman in the middle. I was pleased with the end, as I usually am with Dickey's books. But I was troubled by the circumstances that finally played into the middle woman's long term choice.
