Summary: An Excellent Must-Read from Kleypas!
Review: Author Amamda is turning 30 and decides she no longer wishes to remain a virgin, so she hires herself a male prostitute..and the man who shows up is Jack Devlin. Jack immediatly lusts after Amanda, but he had come to see her for a different reason. Jack, the bastard son of a nobleman and a well known buisnessman wanted nothing of marriage, but he did want Amanda. When fate arranges a marriage for Jack and Amanda, will love blossom from the great passion that these two individuals share?The characters were marvelous. Jack was a man who had been through so much and still came out on top. He defeated all odds against him and was courageous, passionate, and ambitious. Amanda was spunky, intelligent, and capable but needed a man like jack to convince her that she was desireable. They were perfect for each other in every way, and their story was strung together with an excellent plot, much humor, and scorching love scenes. I recommend this to romance readers everywhere and look forward to more wonderful novels by Ms. Kleypas.

Review: I'm so happy I took a break from reading Nora Roberts' works long enough to try new authors. This is my first Lisa Kleypas book, which transported me to a romantic, meticulously detailed world enlivened by an electrifying plot. It starts with the most memorable scene I've read in a long while: Amanda opens her door to Jack, whom she mistakes for the male prostitute she has sent for on the night of her 30th birthday. In a woman's perspective, it's difficult to make a love scene between two complete strangers believable--despite an undeniable physical attraction between them--but Ms. Kleypas pulls it off. Aptly dubbed "The Most Sensual Romance of the Year", Suddenly You sustains the momentum of the initial pages with touching, dissolve-in-a-puddle-of-hormones-as-you-read love scenes. Of course the connection between Amanda and Jack is more than just sexual; their story would make you alternately laugh out loud and cry, so real are their personalities although they are essentially archetypal characters. Jack is a wounded, needy hero whose efforts to claim Amanda are chronicled in touching scenes--from something as subtle and evocative as Jack refastening Amanda's dancing shoe on her foot (weeks after she refused to see him again for fear of society's reprisal), to a wild incident in which he simply carries her off and passionately demonstrates why they belonged together. (For one intense moment in bed, he demands "Who do you belong to?", to which she could only answer breathlessly, "You. You, Jack.") Suddenly You goes beyond many romance books whose culmination is that exchange of elusive "I love you's". Just when I thought Amanda and Jack were cruising along that requisite happy ending, destiny intervenes to reveal yet another facet of their relationship. It's full of vicissitudes that would twist your heart and keep you absorbed, until you just cannot do anything else but finish it... by which time you'll want to start re-reading it.

Review: This is Kleypas at her best. I was a little disappointed in her last romance, "Dreaming of You" after devouring all of her other previous books currently in circulation. The storyline, romance, and character developement was a little flat in "Dreaming of You" but everything sizzles in "Suddenly You"! The protaginist, successful fiction writer Amanda Briars, decides she does not want to remain a virgin when she celebrates her 30th birthday. In a modern twist for a Historical Regency novel, she decides to enlist a male courtesan for her deflowerement. Of course, things do not work out quite as expected when potential publisher, Jack Devlin, arrives at her door and she mistakes him for her discreet visitor. Jack's character is my favorite Kleypas hero to date- he is an unforgetable scroundel with a hidden heart of gold that is a perfect match to the independent Amanda- the storyline that developes is believable and takes you right along the emotional highs and lows of a well written romance. You will not be able to put this one down. I loved the story and the characters- you will not be disappointed!

Review: I had a lot of fun reading this book. Amanda is not your typical spinster. She is a writer and a woman comfortable being a spinster, such so that she hires a male prostitue for her thirtieth birthday. As it turns out, the man that comes to see her is not who she thought it would be, but Jack Devlin, a business tycoon who is interested in publishing one of her stories. The book is fast-paced and the story is telled in Ms. Kleypas's usual way: full of hotter-than-hot scenes that will keep you warm at night. If you want a story that has hot scenes as well as love, then this is the book to get. The back cover's blurb reads: "She was unmarried, untouched and almost thirty, but novelist Amanda Briars wasn't about to greet her next birthday without making love to a man. When he appeared at her door, she believed he was her gift to herself, hired for one night of passion. Unfogettably handsome, irresistibly virile, he tempted her in ways she never thought possible...but something stopped him from completely fulfilling her dream. Jack Devlin's determination to possess Amanda became greater when she discovered his true identity. Review: I loved everything about this book. The characters are irresistable, the conversations sparkled, the romance was very hot without being trashy, the story moved very quickly without a lot of frills. I would really like all these characters if I met them in real life and it gave me ideas about what present I will get for myself on my next birthday! Totally satisfying.

Review: The latest Lisa Kleypas does not disappoint. When Amanda Briars turns 30, she is determined to make love to a man, something she has yet to experience. Along comes gorgeous publishing tycoon Jack Devlin, the sexy half-Irish ... son of a English lord. Sparks fly, and the two begin a tumultuous on and off relationship. This book was a pleasure to read, extremely sensual and tastefully written. Although the ending was somewhat cliched, the book as a whole was a wonderful treat and a great escape.

When the hunk arrives at her door, a shy Amanda understands immediately with one look why he is a pro. Mr. Jack goes along with Amanda, but mentions that he enjoyed reading the last book she wrote. One week later, Amanda meets Jack Devlin, her publisher and alleged male whore, at a party. She is mortified and he is delighted. Jack wants to taste more of Amanda's passion while she wants to hide. As love enters the relationship, Amanda wonders whether she will ever live down her opening act. SUDDENLY YOU is an amusing early Victorian romance that works because of the believability of the star protagonists, especially in their witty, double entendre exchanges. The story line is fun as the audience will cherish Amanda, but outright adore that devilish Devlin. Lisa Kleypas provides sub-genre fans with a 200-proof entertaining historical romance. Jack is everything she desires in a man, even though she knows that she will probably never see him again. But see him again she does, and he is someone entirely different than who she thought he was. Though he is thorougly charming and irresistably handsome, Amanda does her best to keep her distance from him. Jack, illegitimate son of a nobleman and maid, is attracted to her as well and surprisingly shares parts of his well-guarded past with Amanda. Will their mutual attraction lead to anything more than a simple affair, especially for Jack who has told Amanda of his distaste for marriage? Amanda is a truly delightful heroine. Though she sees herself as a plump bookish spinster, Jack is able to convince her that he is attracted to her beauty as well as her brains. In an era where helpless females were revered by men for their complacency, Amanda's spirit shines through. The love story exhibits a quality of its own as physical attraction and intellectual attraction are so carefully intertwined that one cannot always see where one begins and the other ends. Lisa Kleypas again provides readers with a page-turning novel.

Review: Once again I'm in awe of Lisa Kleypas's story-telling ability. In SUDDENLY YOU she gives us the story of two seemingly ill-matched people and shows just how perfect they really are for each other! Amanda is a woman in control of her own life, but she knows there are things she's missing. Jack is the perfect alpha hero, more than willing to give Amanda what she needs and then some. Of course, poor Jack never thinks that Amanda might be able to fill all the empty spaces within him as well... SUDDENLY YOU is a wonderful love story and so sensual you won't be able to put it down!
