Rating: Summary: The Best of the Series! Review: "Secret Star" is the final instalment of the "Stars of Mithra" series and it was definitely my favourite. It is filled with romance, mystery, and excitement. This was a very satisfying end to the series. Grace Fontaine is a stunningly beautiful, incredibly wealthy woman who has in her possession one of three giant blue diamonds. Lieutenant Seth Buchannon is working on the case of these three Stars of Mithra. He is also investigating the murder of Grace Fontaine. But things are not as they appear, because Seth suddenly finds himself face to face with a dead woman. After Grace is brought up to date on what has happened and is reunited with her two best friends, Bailey and MJ, the race is on to find out who is responsible for the path of death and destruction that is following these priceless diamonds. Seth and Grace grate on each other terribly. And Seth figures Grace is just a spoiled and selfish little rich girl. But as Seth gets to know her, he realizes that Grace is not at all what she seems. Indeed, Grace is a woman with a good and extremely generous heart, and Seth finds her, and all of her contrasts, irresistible. As the mad man after the diamonds closes in, Grace is in more danger than anyone realizes, since his obsession is now not only with the Stars of Mithra, but also with Grace herself! The relationship that develops between Grace and Seth is fresh and interesting, and the mystery and adventure revolving around the diamonds is lots of fun. I thought Grace was a wonderful and complex character and that Seth was a great match for her. This story is fast-paced and intriguing and is a wonderful escapist read!

Rating: Summary: pretty good, but... Review: I enjoyed the first two books in this series a little more than the third. The romances in the first two seemed much more believeable than between Grace and Seth. Grace was portrayed as the rich and beautiful with a perfect figure. I just didn't feel for her personality. I also didn't care too much for the ending. I thought it would be more interesting. I did give it a 4 star because it was a decent book.
Rating: Summary: A great end to a great series Review: I found all three of the Stars of Mithra series in a bookcase at my local library that sells unmarked paperbacks for 15-cents apiece. Talk about buried treasure! I got a great trilogy for 45-cents!Secret Star is definitely my favorite of the three. The first two were great, but Seth's and Grace's story was the topper. Seth and Grace were definitely the most dynamic couple of the three (although I certainly also enjoyed Cade and Bailey and Jack and MJ). Seth went from a rules-are-my-life, police-have-all-the-answers, can-do-it-all, know-it-all uptight jerk to a lovely man capable of learning from his mistakes and admitting that he can use help, even from a PI and a bounty-hunter. With Grace, Nora Roberts peeled away the layers of her personality and showed that her gold-plated exterior shields a big-hearted, vulnerable woman you'd love to have for a friend. On the downside, I thought it unnecessary to allude to past lives and previous adventures with the Stars of Mithra (much more pronounced in this conclusion than in the first two books) and felt that the race to protect the jewels and unmask the villain and his cohorts could have stood on its own. A once-in-a-lifetime adventure appeals much more to the romantic in me than the silliness and fantasy of past lives. Fantasy fiction has its place, and I do enjoy it, but I don't like it unnecessarily mixed into what should be purely contemporary adventures. But that's nitpicking. Overall, this series is a great read and I highly recommend it. Great work, Nora!
Rating: Summary: Great One! Review: I like this book best in the series. It is so much fun to read. Robert's really knows how to create suspense and keep it moving to the very end.
Rating: Summary: A bad ending to a good series Review: I loved the first 2 in this trilogy. I finished both Hidden Star and Captive Star in one weekend. I wish I had stopped there. I liked Grace (the heroine of this book) better when she was just casually discussed by the other characters. Once we actually meet her, I have a hard time understanding how Bailey and MJ could be best friends with her. She is calculating and conniving. She tries to manipulate people by using sex appeal. I wasn't really fond of the hero, but I thought he deserved better than Grace. I gave this 2 stars only because it closes off the trilogy. If this book had been a stand alone book, I would have rated it 1 star.

Rating: Summary: not a page turner Review: I only gave it 1 star because they wouldn't let me give it none. I was enjoying this trilogy until I got to the part about the characters' past lives. Then it ruined it for me. I don't care for those types of stories and I do not believe in reincarnation (and even if it was true I don't think you'd remember your past life) so I could not relate to this book. I didn't like the characters either. I thought Seth was a jerk and too wrapped up in himself to be the type to fall in love in a matter of days. I thought Grace was spoiled and manipulative. It was clear that Roberts tried to make her likeable by having her work with sick children. But I still felt like she came across as a spoiled little rich girl, used to having any man she wanted and manipulating them to do what she wants. I also thought the dialogue was cheesy and the love scene cliche and trite. Read the first book, but skip the last two. You won't be missing anything.

Rating: Summary: Star Series is Wonderful- Nora Roberts has done it again Review: I truly look forward to reading each and every Nora Roberts book I buy. This one was no exception. Grace is a very rich lady who does many good deeds. I had a hard time relating to her character. However, I feel that Nora Roberts does a very good job of developing it in pieces so that you can slowly get to know the full person behind the money. Seth is the cop working to solve a murder. The mystery and intrigue this book provides was wonderful. I particularly liked the ending in this book. I thought it was fairly true to how I would act in a similar situation. (Would that I were so rich!) Although this book can stand alone, the first two book in the star series will provide background on some of the characters involved. I would suggest that you read all three in order.
