Rating: Summary: always a great read Review: I couldn't wait for the release of Susan Elizabeths Phillips new book 'Breathing Room". She is one of my favorite authors and like all her books before this one did not disappoint me. The characters are great. I love Ren, the bad boy movie star and Isabel, the self-help doctor. Most of all i loved being in the Tuscany countryside. The description of the towns and the townspeople made me feel like I was there. The worst thing about a Phillips book is when it is finished. I can't wait for her next one. I am truly a hugh fan of hers.
Rating: Summary: A wonderful read--a must-have title Review: Susan Elizabeth Phillips is at her romantic, sexy best with "Breathing Room." You'll fall in love with Tuscany, the food, the atmosphere, the people. Isabel, the heroine, is funny and flawed and you just might recognize yourself in her. As for Lorenzo Gage, I haven't come across a hero this funny and sexy in far too long. After years of reading romance novels, I thought I'd read just about every way there was to write a sexy scene, but Ren and Isabel in the vineyard with a single grape was one of the most erotic scenes I've ever read. Bravo, Susan!
Rating: Summary: WONDERFUL! Review: BUY THIS BOOK YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO PUT IT DOWN AND YOU WILL ENJOY THIS.WHAT A EASY BOOK TO GET INTO FINALLY I CAN WRITE A REVIEW ABOUT A BOOK THAT'S WORTH BUYING.BUT OF COURSE SUSAN BOOKS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN GREAT.YOU WON'T BE SORRY THIS TIME.
Rating: Summary: Breathing Room Leaves Me Breathless! Review: How do I describe Breathing Room by Susan Elizabeth Phillips? Well, let's see-it's sexy, romantic, naughty, has characters I adored, fabulous secondary characters, great dialogue, and takes place in an exotic location. Let me ask you, as a romance reader, what more can you ask for? Dr. Isabel Favor has it all. She's a self-help guru who can do no wrong, or so she thinks. Then she is attacked in the tabloids by a disgruntled ex-employee, she finds out the IRA is after her for unpaid taxes, her accountant who was supposed to take care of the taxes has skipped the country with all her money, and her fiancé has gotten another woman pregnant. All this happens within a space 24 hours to a woman who is supposed to have all the answers. Lorenzo Gage is a drop dead bad boy. He makes his living playing the most horrendous villains in movies. His attitude is he can do whatever, whenever, with whomever he wants when he wants. Life is good until a former girlfriend, who just happens to be America's favorite actress, dies and the blames lands in his lap. Two people on top of the world find themselves hiding out in Italy waiting for the bad press to die down. However, they end up finding more when they discover each other. Breathing Room is a fantastic read. Lorenzo, or Ren as he is called, is that bad boy every woman wants to tame. He has it all, looks, money, talent, and loads of sex appeal. Isabel is the self-contained character that needs to learn to live life. Put them together and you have a wonderful story. Ms. Phillips outdid herself in Breathing Room. This is one of those books that will go on my keepers' shelf and will be read over and over.
Rating: Summary: Read this book! Review: I really enjoyed this book. The characters were well drawn, especially our hero Ren Gage, who was hot enough to steam up the pages and my dreams. And Dr. Isabel Favor was the perfect antidote to all of Ren's badness (even if most of it was in his imagination). In fact, the only thing I didn't like about the book was how much Dr. Favor prayed. The secondary love story, featuring Ren's ex-wife, was good fun to read as well. I always enjoy Susan Elizabeth Phillips' books because she makes the conclusions seem so unreachable and then when it happens the reader is left to wonder why we ever thought it was so unobtainable in the first place. And she manages to blend humor, romance and soul-wrenching emotions all into one tale about people who need to find themselves. It was a great book and I truly recommend it!
Rating: Summary: Beautiful Love Story in a Beautiful Setting Review: I absolutely love Susan Elizabeth Phillips. I could not wait until this book came out, and I was extremely satisfied by the way that it turned out. I absolutely love the sexy story between Lorenzo "Ren" Gage, and Dr. Isabel Favor. Isabel was a hishly successful author of a self help book when her whole empire came crashing down around her shoulders. She had immense personal trouble in that her fiance left her for a frumpy older woman (who was pregnant with his child), her accountant skipped town with 1.2 million dollars of Isabel's money that was supposed to go to the IRS for her taxes. Meanwhile, Isabel's best friend was supposed to travel to an Italian farmhouse to write a book. However, Debbie (I think)met the man of her dreams so Isabel was able to rent the farmhouse for a small fee. When she travels to Italy she is still haunted by the things that her drip of an ex-fiance told her. So, she throws caution to the wind and has a wild encounter with the sexiest man that she has ever seen-Dante. Of course, Dante is our hero Ren, and he is one of the sexiest that Suan Elizabeth Phillips has ever created. Also, I love the subplot where the Itialian people are searching for the fertility statue. I adored this book, and Susan Elizabeth Phillips is one of (if not the best) author that I have ever read. ... I was sooo pumped yesterday when I was reading it, and it did not disappoint me. P.S. Please do not judge me so harshly when you read this random review, it is my first.
Rating: Summary: There's room for more... Review: I will probably get some negative votes on this one but... I just had a hard time getting through it. I didn't care for the main characters- he was flaky and she was difficult. I, too liked sub-characters Tracy and Larry, better than the main ones. Ren is a dashing playboy- a "stuck on himself" movie star that needs to find himself. Isabel Favor is a "self-help guru" and author of The Four Cornerstones of a Favorable Life. She thinks her life is perfect until it falls apart. They both end up in Italy to get away from it all - at the same villa. Ren owns the villa but Isabel refuses to leave since she has put down a large deposit for it in good faith. There's a past here. They've met before. They had a rather unusual one night stander of which both want to forget. Surprise! They are now sharing the same villa. Sparks and tempers start to fly! Meanwhile, something is going on around the villa- Isabel is trying to be run off by the villagers. Why? I'm not going to tell incase you want to read it for yourself. Hey, you might enjoy it. It just wasn't for me. Too silly at times.
Rating: Summary: Better on Audio! Review: I did not get into this book when it first came out. But now I am listening to it on CD, and it is much better than I remembered! The reader is terrific with the voices & accents, the book comes alive. So if you were disappointed in print, try audio!
Rating: Summary: Enjoyable and fun Review: I picked it up since I am currently daydreaming of running away to Italy and live a simpler life under the Tuscan sun. This book is a fun fanasty book ~~ about a rugged movie star who kills lovely ladies on the big silver screen for a living and a demure self-help guru/psychologist who meet and fall in love with each other. It's a sexy book ~~ fun and sweet. Ren has escaped to Italy to his grandmother's old villa for a few weeks before commencing on the next movie. Isabel lost her fiance, her accountant had run off with all of her money and she lost her fortune and fame ~~ so she rents the farmhouse on the villa's property for a few months to catch her breath.
While Isabel is there, the townsfolks don't help her ~~ she runs out of hot water and electricity. She discovers with Ren's help the real reason why the villagers were hostile to her and makes amends.
It's a charming book and a quick read. It's fun ~~ pure fun. Nothing much in here that is intellectual ~~ so if you're looking for a thought-provoking book, this isn't it. If you're looking for something to escape into for a while, this book is a better choice.

Rating: Summary: Enjoyable Review: There are a few improbable plot twists in this book that stretch the reader's credulity a bit, but suspending disbelief is frequently necessary when reading novels. I found the characters interesting, the banter witty, and the writing very good.
All in all, a fun read.
