Summary: Another great JQ favorite!
Review: Anthony Bridgerton knows he's going to die before he's thirty-nine. That's only nine years to marry and produce the heirs who will carry on his family name, so he decides to marry. He chooses a "diamond of the first water", Edwina Sheffield. Unfortunately, Edwina's older sister Kate is deadset against her beloved sister marrying any kind of rake... reformed or no. So Anthony sets out to change her mind... and finds himself becoming more and more attracted to her.

WOW! I keep thinking that JQ can't get any better, then she does. Fans of Quinn will remember Anthony from THE DUKE AND I (another of my five star favorites!). In this book we see why he's so protective and how he finds the woman who is his match in every way. Kate is funny and strong, while Anthony is the delicate balance of an emotional and sexy hero (just like Simon in DUKE). Excellent and FAST read.

Summary: Beautiful!!!
Review: The first book that I read in this series was An Offer From A Gentleman, then I moved on to this book. I must say that this book has now become a re-reader for me. I love all the Bridgertons. Anthony is, on the outside the eptomite of a sterotypicall Rake, but on the inside he is very much humbled by the fact that he thinks he will die before he's 39. He can curse and seduce with the best of them. I like how Ms. Quinn makes him, one minute a ruthless, cunning seducer , ie, when Kate mistakenly hides in his study and Anthony walks in with the Italian opera singer. Then by the end of the book he's so afraid of loosing her he cries. I loved that!
I must say my favorite part of the book was the Bridgerton game of pall mall. That was the first time I actually laughed while reading a book.!
This book is definitley a MUST read. It has the romance, scandal, heroics, humor, all the makings of a great book. Once you start you won't be able to put it down.!

Summary: funniest romance i've read to date
Review: The Viscount Who Loved Me is one of the best books in the series, filled with dry and witty humor, making the storyline sparkle!

Anthony Bridgerton needed a wife and heir before he died prematurely just like his father before him. He's picked out the perfect bride, a diamond of the first water, the Season's Incomparable. The only problem is her older sister Kate, a wilted daffodil, who is certain that Anthony's rake reputation will not make him suitable for her sister.

Anthony refuses to let this little obstacle stop him and sets to make certain Kate knows that, even though everytime they're together, sparks and insults fly. However, Kate slowly begins to see Anthony's innate goodness and realizes that she can't refuse his suit any longer. But now that Anthony is free to woo Edwina, he finds that he misses Kate.

An unfortunate though hilarious incident force them to marry, though Kate is still under the impression that Anthony wants her sister. But as usual, they slowly realize their deep love for each other.

It's a book to treasure!

Summary: Couldn't put it down!
Review: This was the first Julia Quinn book I've read, and I'm SO glad I did! I thought I'd read a chapter or two before going to bed, and next thing I knew it was 3:30 in the morning and I was finished.

Although the dialogue sparkled (great wit here!), it was the characters in this book that had me absolutely hooked. Kate Sheffield is a heroine everyone can identify with--or at least the type you'd want for a best friend. And Anthony Bridgerton--WOW! He was extremely sexy, complex, and entertaining without being an "in your face" stock romance hero. I couldn't stop reading because I HAD to see what happened to them. The secondary characters (Kate's sister and Anthony's siblings) were wildly entertaining as well.

I'm definitely going to pick up some other Julia Quinn titles--and sincerely hope to see more of the Bridgerton family in the future. (Or a story about Kate's sister.) Five stars isn't enough for this one!

Summary: Cute and Clever Romantic Comedy
Review: Viscount Anthony Bridgerton, the prize catch of the London season, has remained a most determined bachelor, and consummate rake for years. Now that he's approaching thirty, and sure he will never outlive his father who died at the age of thirty-eight, Anthony decides to marry to provide the prerequisite heir. He's even chosen the lucky bride, Edwina Sheffield, a diamond of the first water this season. Edwina is just the type of woman he needs to marry, one who is beautiful, but the lack of chemistry will never lead to love. His only obstacle is she refuses to marry anyone not approved first by her half-sister, Kate Sheffield. Kate is not about to believe a rake such as Anthony would make a good husband for her sister, so she and Anthony continually end up in a battle of wits and wills.

But despite their antagonism, Anthony can't stop thinking of and desiring Kate, even to the point she invades his dreams with erotic images he's finding difficult to ignore. And after growing close enough to Anthony to realize he possesses many fine qualities, Kate knows she can no longer oppose the marriage to her sister. But secretly she can't help wanting him for herself.

This is one of the earlier novels in the lengthy Bridgerton family series, and it was my second book by this author. Overall this was a very enjoyable read. Ms. Quinn's wit and clever dialogue is what transforms this otherwise mundane storyline into a funny and unique tale. A couple of my favorite scenes would have to be the game of Pall Mall which was quite humorous, and one particularly memorable line uttered by a secondary character who found Anthony and Kate in the garden: "Lud, girl, he had his mouth on your bubbies, and we all saw it."

I only have a couple of minor complaints, which prevented me from awarding a five star rating. The story behind Kate's irrational fear of thunderstorms was a little too far-fetched to be believable. Secondly, Ms. Quinn has a habit of placing added phrases in parentheses in the middle of her sentences. This isn't too bad until she sometimes adds two or three extra phrases in one sentence, then I don't remember what the original sentence even was, so I have to reread the whole thing. As I mentioned, these really are only minor issues, and the book is definitely worthy of reading.

Summary: Incredible love story!
Review: This one was just as good as "The Duke & I." Anthony was an incredibly sexy and intense hero. Kate was completely lovable as the sensible (and often overlooked) older sister. Their chemistry was evident and the romance was so touching.

They made a perfect match and the story is just wonderful. Definitely a keeper.

Summary: DISAPPOINTED!
Review: I have always looked forward to and enjoyed Julia Quinn's books, but with THE VISCOUNT WHO LOVED ME, I was disappointed. Quinn seems to be following in the footsteps of Amanda Quick. Quick's early books were wonderful, but, with each successive book, her heroines became almost parodies of themselves. They were too clever, too funny, and too witty. And they were forgettable. I feel the same way about TVWLM. I read it, but I probably won't re-read it. Kate and Anthony were good characters, but I didn't feel enough tension between them. He was going to marry her sister, but then he changed his mind and had to marry Kate. I feel there should have been more time devoted to his switch and Kate's insecurity over it. All of a sudden we jumped to the fear of dying(which I know was an integral part of the book), and the switch in brides sort of died out. I am probably in the minority of reviewers about this book, but I really expected more from Quinn. I will read some reviews and find out about her next book before I buy it. She in not an automatic buy anymore.

Summary: The Bees count here, I guess
Review: The eldest Bridgerton brother, Viscount Anthony Bridgerton takes his responsibilities as head of the family quite seriously, but this did not stop him from enjoying life to the fullest, especially when it comes to women! This earned him a rakish reputation and when it came time for him to find a bride, his candidate was no other than Edwina Sheffield --smart, beautiful and the Season's Incomparable. But Anthony's attempts at courtship kept getting foiled by Edwina's older sister, Kate. Kate is not as beautiful as Edwina; but she is a woman of strong character, and stronger determination to protect her younger sister from the clutches of the rakish viscount. Anthony is equally determined to pursue Edwina, but to his dismay, Kate is the one who occupies his thoughts....and might also occupy his heart.

Another enjoyable addition to the Bridgerton stories, "The Viscount Who Loved Me" is great in the moments you expect but if you cound empathize with Anthony's fear of bees, you're in for another Quinn-tessential read!

Summary: This novel has it all...humor, drama, and romance.
Review: This is my 4th Quinn's novel in the Bridgerton series. I didnt read "the Duke and I" yet and I heard it's as good as this one. This "one" is not good at all...it is way BETTER than I'd dream it would ever be, metaphorically speaking(not that I actually dreamed about it). I love Quinn's writing, and I mentioned my admiration on her writing on some of my reviews, so Im not gonna repeat myself.
But this novel had pulled stronger emotions and reactions within me than the other titles in the series had not been able to do. You know those moments, where the author puts the heroine in a really embarassing situation, and u dont know if you wanna laugh at Kate's misfortune, or slam the book, thinking that it will stop the inevitable? There's not a single page that will put you to sleep. BUt humor is only a part of this book. There are also those moments that will surely tug some heartstrings or 2. The only thing that I dont like is the obvious planned-similarity on Anthony and Kate's past. I know that is the VERY reason that they are RIGHT for each other, but...for me, it only adds more to it predictableness(if there's such a word). And then Quinn took it farther with the overly-dramatic carriage incident. But enough about those observations, coz nothing will ruin this book for me.
Contrary to the should-be's-- where Eloise's story or Penelope's story SHOULD have all the witty and smart dialogues for they are portrayed as the cleverest in the group--I find that Anthony and Kate's battle of the insults more engaging, smarter, wittier and sassier on the whole Bridgerton saga.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Fun Read
Review: I really enjoy Julia's writing. Her sense of humor is absolutely priceless. Anthony and Kate are perfect for each other and they will keep you laughing all the way to the end.
