Summary: A good read for the afternoon
Review: If you like a little suspense and passion you will enjoy Mr. Perfect. I found the characters human and enjoyable. Ms. Howard put a twist in the end that I never expected. Ms. Howard wrote a romantic suspense novel with humor, sensitivity, and tension. It isn't often I can read something that will make my stomach curl with fright then hurt with laughter and all in a few hours.

Summary: I keep re-reading this one.
Review: I love Linda Howard and I have to say this is my favorite of all of her books. I simply can't help but re-read it every now and then. This book holds all the elements I want in a good novel. Suspence, laughter and love. Must get if you enjoy Ms. Howard's books

Summary: fun beach read!
Review: If you're looking for literary greatness, this is probably not the book for you. But if you're looking for a fun, kind of trashy, quick read then definitely check out Mr Perfect. The book starts out with 4 friends who get together for drinks after work and make up a list of characteristics they want in the perfect man. The list ends up in the wrong hands and soon they have a killer stalking them. Throw in a side plot with a sexy next door neighbor, and you have the makings for the perfect beach read: murder, sex and suspense (and even a little humor).

This was my very first Linda Howard story. I have since read many more of her novels. I do like most of them, but this is the only one I have read over and over. When ever I have nothing to read, and an afternoon to kill, I grab this book and settle in on the couch for an amusing afternoon.

Summary: Good plot ruined by porno detail
Review: Catchy plot; should and could have been a 5 star winner in the hands of a good writer. Howard fills pages of her books with poorly written pornographic details...smut, in other words, just enough to titillate some readers. Compare her with Baldacci, with Clark, with Iles, with Higgins. She's not even in the ball park let alone in the running. I've looked at two others she's written...same story.

Summary: Go to the library, instead!
Review: I read Mr. Perfect--I stayed up all night to do so. I was determined to finish the book, hoping it would become better but it didn't. Unfortunately, the author is in writing slump. The character, Jaine, was very similar to another one of the author's characters (a woman who was a butler) and Sam, like the police officer in the other story, was basically the same type of person. The duplicate descriptions of both men was disappointing; I expected Ms. Howard to be more creative. The cursing, I suppose, was meant to be humorous but I didn't find it so. I thought it was just thrown into the story. If anything, it made me wonder why a such an intelligent woman had to use that kind of language. Sure, I'm no angel but her language was too much. (...)
Jaine wasn't bothered that Sam referred to his ex-wife as the b-word; I was. It shows he was still bitter and may have had some "issues." As a woman engaged three times, you would think Jaine wouldn't say yes so quickly.

The characters go from hate, to lust, to love, to a marriage proposal in a week. In between Jaine loses two of her closest friends, her house is vandalized and she has an incredible amount of instant celebrity. When in the world did the characters find time to know each other? Jaine seemed more concerned about Sam's penis size. How sad, shallow and stupid! Not once did they sit and discuss their childhood, dreams, goals, anything. In just a few days, Jaine had sex with a stranger. She started birth control pills during the weekk--a Monday, I believe. Most birth control pills start the first Sunday of or after your cycle.

Jaine's five minutes of grief were unbelievable. She cried, then wiped her tears and jumped back in the bed with Sam. People handle grief in their own way but Jaine's reaction was so unrealistic.

Supposedly, Jaine was nervous about the attention and attracting loonies but in one scene Sam comes over and opens the door while Jaine and Shelley were in the kitchen. She didn't even lock her!
She even went through the trouble of buying a new door. Did Ms.Howard forget that detail?

All of the characters were two-dimensional. I liked T.J and Luna, best. However, T.J. worrying about her husband's reaction to a stupid list was so silly.

I really didn't like Jaine or Sam. They deserve each other.

It may be awhile before I pick up another Howard novel.

Summary: Laugh Out Loud Funny
Review: I loved this book! The verbal sparring between the characters had me laughing out loud. And, the sex scenes weren't too shabby either. :)~

The only thing I was disappointed about was that I knew who the murderer was even before they murdered anyone. This might not be the case with everyone but I just figured it was too obvious not to be the killer and I was right. Of course, I didn't know all the twists and turns that would take place but...

I also thought the descriptions of the murder scenes were a little too graphic for this genre. I understand the necessity of making the reader understand how evil this person is but did the author really have to go into that much detail? It was kind of sickening because it was so descriptive that I got a mental image in my head that I couldn't shake. I suggest skimming the paragraphs where they describe the crime scene if you have a hard time with brutal violence against women.

The verbal interaction between the characters and the story line were excellent besides the above two things. The verbal interaction and the hot, but not vulgar, sex scenes (even the kissing was making me sigh...) were the reason I gave this book 5 stars. I loved the characters, too. They reminded me a lot of my friends and family. :)

I hope you get a chance to read this and enjoy it as much as I did!

Summary: Perfect!
Review: This book had a unique plot and was funny at the same time.

One of my favorites by Linda Howard.

Summary: Mr. Perfect Stinks
Review: I was extremely disappointed with this book. I recently read "Cry No More" by Linda Howard and loved it. So when this book was highly recommended by friends and your reviews - I thought it would be great. It is completely unrealistic, unbelievable, boring and I had a hard time getting through it. The mystery was horrible and the dialogue awful. I will however try another Linda Howard - hopefully one with more substance.

Summary: The whole enchilada
Review: Linda Howard has quickly become one of my favorite romance authors, though for a long time I was reluctant to read this particular book of hers. Now that I have read it I could kick myself for wasting time. Read this book now! It is funny, serious, sexual and I love Janie as the lead. She is smart, sassy and doesn't fade into the long list of romance novel women. She is an individual with more to talk about than what she wants in a guy. . . which brings us to the plot.
Four friends make up a list of a Mr. Perfect, the list gets out and people start dying. . . Creepy, especially with the beginning prologue. But that is not the whole of the story, there are four friends, all different but fun, there's an annoying neighbor, A ford Shelby mustang, lots of humor and . . . the hero is great. He is not intimidated by this list of what a perfect man should be. That in itself is sexy, not to mention he has a really great. . . shoe size. All in all, this is a great read at any time. Perhaps not in public though unless you want to embarrass yourself by bursting out in laughter.
