Summary: Cryin' all night....I loved this book!
Review: Wow. I've recently discovered Rachel Gibson's work and i just wanted to say thanks. I've enjoyed everything i've read so far--this book was entertaining for sure. I was intrigued by Georgie and John's relationship over the years. There couldn't have been two more stubborn people and then she threw in her friend & another hockey player!! Lexie was an adorable character too! It was an enjoyable read--i even read it twice in 2 days....I may have to start watching hockey now too! :) Does anyone know where the phrase "Cryin' all night" comes from?

Summary: Not her best
Review: It's probably not fair that this was the third hockey romance that I read in a short time period because while it's a very good book, it had trouble with the competition. Georgeanne and John were likable enough characters but the story just does not stand up to Body Check by Deirdre Martin (the best of the three) or Rachel Gibson's latest book, See Jane Score.

Summary: Definitely RESISTIBLE
Review: This was the worst! I can't believe that the same author who wrote Truly, Madly Yours wrote this novel. I know I'm rehashing some things said by others, but I can't help myself: 1) The hero was a Jerk (capital J is intentional). He's your typical womanizing jock who thinks he's God's gift to women. He has sex with his boss's fiancee and then dumps her the next day; 2) The heroine was an idiot. She leaves her fiancee at the altar (which was cruel, even if Gibson does everything in her power to make Virgil out to be the bad guy), hops in a car with one of his employees, and has sex with him that very night. The best part is that she's hurt that John doesn't fall madly in love with her after that. HELLO?? Hasn't she ever heard of jocks just wanting one thing? Additionally, when she does meet up with him again, she has no qualms about repeating her earlier stupidity and hopping in bed with him even though she's supposed to be in a monogomous relationship with another man.

I'll ask the same question that others have asked: What made these two fall in love with each other? Gibson doesn't give us a clue. She simply tells us how gorgeous they both are and seems to think that's enough of a reason.

I just didn't believe that John loved Georgeanne. He doesn't even seem to be bothered about the fact that she's seeing another man, and then, on about the last 50 pages or so, miraculously realizes he loves her. And then--take out the barf bag--he decides to propose to her on live television. Come on, Rachel! I expected more originality than that, even in a romance novel.

This is definitely on my top ten worst romance novels. Don't read it even if you're stranded on a desert island and it's the only book available.

Summary: A Good Debut Novel
Review: Since this was the first book written by Ms. Gibson I will admit it is not as great as her later works but not as bad as some have stated in the review section. First off it is a romance so if you are not a romantic at heart or don't care for the genre simple don't pick it up. Second the characters of this story are quirky not unlike other characters by this author the difference is that both Johna and Georgie have their own personal baggage that helped to ceate who they were. Yes, John seemed unable to have an emotional bone in his body at times but he was also having problems emotionally and with letting alcohol being used to numb his pain. No one is at their best in that situation. Georgie also had her own emotional problems and felt that she was not worthy of being loved. Put these two types of people together and of course you will have problems making a relationship work. This is what the story is about.

They started off seven years earlier Georgie was running away from a wedding and John the hockey player was the get away car driver. Little did John know but Georgie was his bosses soon to be wife. After a night of wild sex John leaves Georgie behind at the airport with out a backwards glance and with Georgie already in love with him. Georgie is so convinced that no one will ever love her she almost has herself talked into flying back to Texas and getting on with her life. A chance glance at a local want ad changes her mind and she stays in Seattle.

Seven years and a chance meeting later Georgie and John see each other. Georgie is a grown up version of herself and John still remembers their one night together. Georgie is less then thrilled because she thinks that he knows about her little secret. She had Johns daughter six years earlier. The story goes on from there.

There are some great secondary characters such as Georgie and Johns daughter Lexie and Georgie's best friend Mae.

If you have read Ms. Gibson's later stories you will not find them to be the same. I think that these characters were complex and Ms. Gibson was true to form in the way she wrote them. Yes, there was a lot of I hate you, I lust after you....but, at the same time these are two people that have been hurt before and this would have an affect on how they interact with others. Still this story was good, with some humor and laughs thrown in. It would be a shame to miss this story if you are a fan of this author.

Summary: DUMB
Review: This was such a dissappointing read. Shallow characters i had trouble caring about, gratuitous sex scenes and terrible writing.
I prefer a story line that is a little more thought provoking and doesn't insult me with such stereotypical characters. Will the jock ever get together with the big breasted woman!? Who cares!

Summary: Simply Detestable
Review: I was really hoping that Rachel Gibson would pleasantly surprise me with this one. The back cover didn't sound so great and the first chapter that I read on line also didn't sound so great. But I bought the book anyway and really wish I hadn't. John, the main male character - I just can't bring myself to call him a hero - is truly one of the most despicable characters I've ever encountered in romantic fiction. I haven't even finished the book and I couldn't wait to come here to vilify him. I'm 329 pages into a 375-page paperback and he still has virtually no redeeming qualities. He's just as boorish, emotionally abusive, egomaniacal and morally bankrupt as he was during the opening chapters. I think I might have really liked the heroine if only she hadn't destroyed my respect and trust in her by falling for this creep. I don't know, I guess I trust romance authors to protect me from this kind of jerk and this kind of static, unpleasant character. The love scenes might have saved the book but the guy is such a lowlife scumbag that you just can't help wishing she'd perpetrate some act of violence on his person and kick him the hell out of her life once and for all. Jeez, this is a frustrating book...Only morbid fascination has kept me reading. I guess I'd better go finish it and get it over with.

Summary: Not as good as "Truly, Madly Yours"
Review: I read this one after "TMY" and I have to say I didn't enjoy it as much, not only that but I see a pattern beginning to form in her Hero's and heroine's and I just started reading her and I know she is a "new" author so I'm not ready for patterns yet!!! Very reminscent of the SEP books but somewhere along the way I actually wanted to hear the secondary story more (the 2 friends of theirs). I liked the Hero in this one although the story line didn't give them anytime to like each other as people (at least that is the way I felt)

I am now on "True Confessions" and have already picked up the fact that it too has similarities to the other 2 like, the same sexual tension from the very start between the Hero and the Heroine, the fact that the Heroine is starting on a pick-herself-back-up-on-her-feet-again mode yada yada yada. I am hoping that Rachel Gibson throws us for a loop in the next one because I believe she has wonderful talent and dialogue :)Simply Irresistible probably would have appealed better to me had I read this one first I believe, so I must recommend that if someone is starting to read this author pick this one up first and be pleasently surprised.

Summary: Great contemporary romance
Review: I love contemporary romance for the great stories, the wonderful characters, the humor and the fun and sexy storylines. I like Nora Roberts, Sandra Brown, SE Phillips, Susan Andersen and Linda Howard, but if I had to pick two favorite books, they'd be "Simply Irresistible" and "Truly Madly Yours" by Rachel Gibson. The one she wrote about the tabloid writer who moves to Montana is a close third. Her characters are people I would like to meet in real life -- passionate, flawed, principled and funny. These are really wonderful books.

Summary: Fun and sexy!
Review: After reading one of Rachel's novels, I liked it so much I bought the rest. I haven't been disappointed - every one has a fresh story, distinctly different characters, and lots of heat. Her dialogue is witty and charming and down-to-earth, not stilted or too formal or dull, and her contrivances to get the two together don't feel like contrivances at all. I'm anxiously awaiting the next one out ....

Summary: very hearthwarming and sexy
Review: I guess we always heard nobody`s perfect. This book gives you a good tingling when it comes to loving. And i love it, RG really give as good as she got and give you a run for your money. I can`t wait for the next one.
