Rating: Summary: nice love story Review: while i will admit that when you compare this with the first of the three in the series, this will not be as good, but it is still a great book. it captured my attention well enough as well as making me want more.brianna enjoys the most of simple things; her garden, her home, pleasing her guests, cooking and even cleaning. grayson is a writer, coming to to stay at her inn in order to write his next bestselling book. the moment he walks in from the rain, he is hooked not only on a land he'd never realized existed, but on feelings he didnt believe in. this is a genuine love story where the characters develop into themselves and then eachother. enjoyed the read and on to the next ::smile
Rating: Summary: Ordinary... Review: This is the very first book that I have read from Nora Roberts. I found nothing special about this book, even a bit boring. It has put me off Nora Roberts' book for a coupe of years until I picked up Public Secrets. I think Nora's romantic suspense is far enjoyable than her romance.
Rating: Summary: So dull, I couldn't finish it...zzzzz Review: I have read rave reviews about the Born In... trilogy, so I grabbed the first one I could get a hold of, Born in Ice. I slogged through the first six chapters, then skimmed the rest. I found both lead characters just incredibly dull. They were so repressed, every emotion seemed buried under a thick woolen sweater. The heroine spent most of her time cooking and hanging out laundry. The hero wrote things he didn't want anyone else to look at. Even their lovemaking was subdued and furtive, a struggle under the blankets and then quick smooth things down so no one else will notice. I would say they weren't only born in ice, but they stayed that way, too. I ended up skimming the book because these characters, and their tenuous story, just could not interest me; I found it a very realistic portrayal of some very uninteresting people. Rabid Roberts fans will of course not agree, but I didn't care for it.
Rating: Summary: A beautiful story Review: I have read the whole "born in" trilogy and this was my favorite one. The serenity and coolness of Brianna matched with the anxiousness and humor of Grayson was irresistable. Nora Roberts is such a gifted novelist and a book like this gives all us romantics hope. This story has everything, passion, humor, seriousness, and sadness enough to make you cry. The way she had Grayson's catch phrase "Let me tell you a story" throughout the book was brilliant because you never knew what type of story it was, be it happy or sad. It's a novel of great depth and definately does not fall in the "Trashy Romance Novel" catagory that so many people are apt to put these types of books in. If you're a big "Born in Fire" fan also, never fear. Maggie and Rogan are also woven through this spellbinding tale. I have reread this book many times and never fail to cry at the end.
Rating: Summary: Best of the Born In... Review: While I enjoyed the entire Born in trilogy, I found this one the best. Brianna the tender heart meets Grayson the writer. From the moment he arrives at her Bed & Breakfast I knew this was going to be good. I did not like Maggie & Brianna's mother. What a witch. The last few paragraphs were the best although I had my heart in my throat but all turned out as I knew Ms. Robert's would have it be... happily.
Rating: Summary: Not nearly as good as Born in Fire Review: I just didn't believe that a worldly writer (Grayson) would fall for a sheltered Irish homemaker (Brianna), and the more I read the less believable it seemed--even for a romance novel. The dialogue seems stilted compared to that of Born in Fire and the characters a little bit lackluster. Nora Roberts didn't convince me this time around. I like when her characters zing!
Rating: Summary: A good romance Review: I didn't read either of the other books in this series but this one came into my hands through a friend. I liked both Brianna and Grayson, and it's a pretty straightforward romance. The third sister storyline is obviously intended as the link to "Born in Shame", but it's not as intriguing or mysterious a link as is the one of young Seth in the Quinn brothers trilogy. Those books are even more satisfying, but this was perfectly entertaining.
Rating: Summary: From an Irish point of view... Review: I generally love all of Nora Roberts' books, but this series is painful. Admittedly, Born in Ice is better than Born in Fire, but it's still bad. My main problem is that it's set in Ireland and unfortunately, the author is completely unable to write Irish dialogue authentically. It's full of stereotypical Irish sayings which no-one in Ireland says (except to tourists) and for some reason the heroine starts to speak in Gaelic when she's all passionate.. I can't really see that happening.. BUT I still gave it 2 stars as opposed to none because I recognise that it may not be as irritating for other people.. but it definitely irritated me.
Rating: Summary: Not disappointed! Review: I have yet to be disappointed with Nora's books. The character's of Grayson and Brianna just captivate you from the moment you start reading the book.
Rating: Summary: Moving story of love between two strong people Review: This is the second of the Born In series that I have read, unfortunately I started from the third book, Born in Shame, so I already knew that Grayson and Brianna would work everything out. It was nice reading about a strong woman being in control of her life and a man looking for a home that he didn't think he needed. Looking forward to completing the series with the first book, Born in Fire.
