Rating: Summary: This book needed some re-working! Review: Alright, here are my complaints: The main characters are never fleshed out. Heather is unbelivably gorgeous and unbelivabely BORING!!! There was nothing going on above her bodice! She never comes back with a witty retort or interesting comment. The "misunderstanding" love scene in the beginning makes no sense. Then the hero goes from being a complete cad to a wonderful guy(???) There are only two "love" scenes in the whole book, one at the beginning and one at the end because the whole middle of the book has the main characters at odds. Not good, need I say more?

Rating: Summary: Awsome! Review: OK i am only 14 and as u know most teens don't like to read much, thus was my case also. Until one day when i had the flue and had nothing better to do, I went into my moms room where she had a bunch of her old books stored away and I started searching for a romance book since I just love romance movies. Then this book, "The Flame And The Flower", caught my eye and i read the back. It seamed prtty good so i started to read it, but in my mind i thought i would only make it past the first chapter. As I read on tho, i just could not stop. It was sooo good! Believe me it takes a really good book to make me interested and this book was more than good, it is the best book i've read and it even beat my favoutite movie. I was sad when i had finished it so i kept reading my favourite parts over and over again like the part when Bea was born and the part when Brandon saves Heather from that wicked old Thomas Hint. My friends were even getting mad about the endless naging them to read the book cuz it was the best and so they read it and they loved it too. Don't worry, if you read this book u won't be able to put it down and you will end up wishing that it would never end. You will probubly even wish that you were heather like I did. Or that you lived back in those old days. I started reading another book of hers called "The Wolf and The Dove" which is also really good so far. So just pick up the book "The Flame And The Flower" and read it bacause you won't be disapoited and it will make you want to read every other book that KEW has written!
Rating: Summary: Wonderful! Review: This is truly the best book I have ever read! I was so into it I practically fell in love with Brandon right along with Heather. This book is #1 on my top ten list of favorite books (if I were to have one.)
Rating: Summary: Woodiwiss is the best Review: I have read this book so many times that I lost count. I've read it several times a year since it came out. I had to buy at least five copies because of the wear and tear. I wish the story of the Birmingham family can go on and on. I have read all of woodiwiss's books and loved them all. I hope her next book is about Heather and Brandon's daughter Brenna. The characters are so interesting that I just want to keep reading about them. I wish someday someone would make a mini series about the Birmingham Family. I would love to see it.
Rating: Summary: counselor in CA Review: This is one of the worst romances I've read. I could only read about 50 pages. Brandon rapes her ( a few times) and she's supposed to fall in love with him. After she tells him she's not a streetwalker (after the intial rape scene), he tells her he will make her his mistress againest her will. This man has no morals, conscience, or any redeming qualities that I could see. Women DO NOT fall in love with men who rape them and treat them so poorly.
Rating: Summary: The most awesome love story of them all!! Review: Ok, been a romance reader for some time now. Been reading various authors and different writers, such as Judith McNaught, Virginia Henley, etc...which happen to be some of my favorite authors of my favorite books. Been searching high and low, and just could not find a book to apease my restless reading heart which was longing for the perfect book writen. ^^ Well, and lately was getting bored with the same old dribble that everyone seems to do once in a while-and nothing new, but the same old thing. I had gotten this book a while back but it sat with the other stacks of books I sometimes obsessivly buy-plus, the cover I thought looked odd~~but don't judge a book on it's cover I know now. ^_^ But one night happen to get passed page 20 and continued to read it. Well, things started to unravel from there-and mind you-I was going through a stage where I needed an excellent awesome writer to get me back into the game of reading! Well, Boy, does this magificiant author do that! She has to be without a doubt, the best writer out there and took the place of my other favorites as the BEST of the BEST! She takes her time introducing the characters, making you fall in love with them, easing you into the story. This is the first book I read when reading it, that I could picture every single thing and felt like I was actually there! I could picture the couple, the places in my head and especially the great mansion! Woodiwiss took me into the story and I could relate to REAL emotions and feelings and situations that I miss out on other books and not get. You sort of feel sorry for Brandom somewhat in the beginning, because he really didn't know-based on that society back then and the circumstances and such, you have to see from his POV and wonder and know what he might have been thinking, based on his time period. But, Heather just sizzles into your heart and you love them both, and the pains and struggles they both have to cross to find a life somewhere out there in that big large world. the plot moves splendid and you don't have one moment in the book where it drags. This story never drags or has a dull moment. Every scene sna writen word you can tell was writen with special care and thought behind it. You can tell she put a lot of work into writing this story and it came from the heart of the writer. I just live the whole book and nothing is missing from it. I longed to see Brandon and Heather find a place where they both can open their hearts and trust one another with love and respect it seems. Well, this wonderful author took her time to develop a love story her readers will never forget. It was timeless, perfectly developed and just smooth and dearly romantic, with such attention to small details you don't feel "jipped out" of nothing. It wasn't rushed, it wasn't missing anything. It was just right and gave me shivers after I finished the last page and sighed, happily. I nearly cried during points and found myself addicted to this book, I went and bought copies of "The Flame and the Flower" for all my family and friends, who are waiting to read it. If you are searching for a true romance story, that is realsitic and unforgettable, then this is the book and author for you. Woodiwiss takes great time in developing her characters, puts a great-moving plot and theme into place, so you don't feel like you're stuck on details, she makes it an easy and enjoyable read. One of my favorite things about this great author is that she places details into the book, but not those sort of details that you feel like you have to be a History buff to know what the author is talking about. I understood every single detail writen about that time period and what she was trying to get across. It is a very deep piece of art as well. She writes so wonderfuly well, that she will not get you lost in a lot of senseless, not-needed dribble. If you are searching for the perfectly writen, well told book, this is the one. I bought the other two sequels right away and about to get started on the next one tonight! I can't wait! I have read so many other stories, but I'm sure with her great talent and her effort she puts into her books, Woodiwiss is a keeper! Don't miss out, because if you don't read this book, you surely will.
Rating: Summary: MY FIRST ROMANCE NOVEL Review: THIS IS THE ONE THAT STARTED IT ALL FOR ME. I HAVE HAVE READ AND RE-READ THIS SO OFTEN THAT I HAVE 5 COPIES. WOODIWISS IS THE BEST, I WAS 17 AND LOVED IT NOW 44 AND STILL DO. PLEASE IF YOU ONLY READ ONE ROMANCE NOVEL LET THIS BE YOUR FIRST, YOU WON'T BE SORRY, BUY IT NOW.
Rating: Summary: Surprisingly pleased Review: I read this book a couple of years ago and since I've read it again and again. It is a rare talent KEW possessed to make the characters alive and to make us reader care for them as if they were alive. A dose of comedy, quatity of angst and passion and an end to make you dream and wonder, that's what this book is made of. I actually cried...and believe me that's something I don't do often on a book :) It's really worth reading!
Rating: Summary: Have some perspective!!! Review: Hardly the awful book "The Flame and the Flower" takes the common stroll of most romance novels. Heather is a troubled young woman who believes that she has very few choices in life to begin with. Adding fuel to that fire (no pun intended) Brandon comes from a place of far too many choices. The powerful and the powerless seem evident at the being but these roles shift in an interesting and cleaver way. This is not, nor was it intended to be, rocket science- if you are looking for a good novel to get lost in for a little while than this fits the bill fine . I have read this book over the years quite a few times the characters are easy to fall back in step with and the energy is still there. All writers have a style and I find Kathleen's engaging.
