Rating: Summary: A classic for young women falling in love for the first time Review: I read this book when I was about 15 and again at 26 (it was borrowed), and I've been searching bookstores for the longest time to find it. Tonight while I watched Jeopardy I got the answer from one of the clues...Amazon .com. I can't wait to buy it and read it again. It left a wonderful impression of love in my young mind. Of course I fell in love with Brandon and went through everything Heather went through to be with him. This book is truly a classic, one that I can't wait to add to my collection. Thank you Kathleen for giving a young girl in Jamaica such a beautiful vision of love at such a tender age.
Rating: Summary: Nothing compared to this book, It is the best book ever. Review: The Flame and the Flower was the best book I had ever read. I cant even begin the remember how many times I have read it.(over 20) Everytime I read it I still get goose bumps all over. Brandon is the ideal guy and I wish that I could have been Heather. Cheers to Kathleen E. Woodiwiss, I wish more books can be like this one.
Rating: Summary: My Favorite Review: The first time I read this book was when my children were small.I was looking for romance and entertainment through my reading, and found it here with Brandon and Heather. I have reread it many times since. It is still my favorite.Kathleen Woodiwiss tells a story you can get lost in. I look forward to each new book.
Rating: Summary: Perfect story to whet a young girl's appetite for romance! Review: The Flame & the Flower was Woodiwiss's first book, and my very first romance novel. I recall identifing with Heather's plight, craving to be rescued by Brandon too, and really caring about those characters. More than 20 years later, that masterful man and feisty young women still create a stir! Woodiwiss gets the job done beautifully!
Rating: Summary: Her best book! Review: This has to be Kathleen's best book. I have read it at least three times and still cry & laugh etc.
Rating: Summary: It is one of the best romance novels that I have ever read! Review: The Flame and The Flower was the first romance novel that I ever read, and I loved it. I couldn't put it down. This book got me started reading romance novels, and other than my other favorite book, A Knight in Shining Armour by Jude Deveraux, The Flame and The Flower is still one of my favorite books. I still read it at least once a year, and it always feels like the first time I read it. I just wish there were more books out there like it.
Rating: Summary: This book is on my top ten list! Review: Brandon and Heather's story kept me turning the pages. I recommend this book to anyone. I still read this book all the time. Brandon's brother's story is just as good. His brother's story is in the book Three Weddings and a Kiss and the continuation of his story is in the book Married at Midnight. All her books are great.
Rating: Summary: THE BEST BOOK OF ALL TIME Review: I know that it might sound corny, that it was the best book that I have ever read, but sincerely it was the first book that I ever read seriously and the first that I read from cover to cover. I could not put this book down. I did not want it to end. I still have the original copy that I purchased back in 1974. I have loaned many books to friends and relatives but I do not lend this book out to anyone. I still read it about 3 times a year and still get the same feeling when reading it. I think that Brandon and Heather were the ideal pair and perfectly matched to one another. Now when I look for books I hope to come across a book written on the same type of romance that Brandon and Heather had. I wish Ms Woodiwiss would write and publish books more often. I did not care for the latest book where there were three different authors and three different stories in one book. Plus I was totally discouraged when I saw that the part written by Ms Woodiwiss was about Beau Birmingham who was the child of Brandon and Heather in the original book "The Flame and the Flower" I look for her books periodically but do not see any writings by her lately. I think that she has such a talent for writing and keeping the interest on the reader from page one to the very end. I hope that she will continue to write more books like her fans are used to reading.
Rating: Summary: THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE BOOKS Review: I think the story of Heather & Brandon is one of the best Ihave ever read. It's one that I get out every few years and re-read.It has some funny and sad parts. There are times when you would like to strangle some of the characters like Heather's aunt and Brandon's ex-fiance, but then there are the characters you really can identify with like Heather & Brandon themselves. You can imagine how he must feel to think that he's been trapped even though he wanted her anyway and how insecure she must feel after having been mistreated by her aunt and then being blackmail. Anyway I think it is a very good book.
Rating: Summary: If Brandon Birmingham is your knight in shining armor... Review: ...I would hate to see what kind of man you consider a brute! This was by far the worst book I have ever read. Thank God the romance genre has advanced as it has over the past twenty years or so. That is, I believe it has evolved into a form of literature from the simple stringing together of nouns (usually breasts, in this case) and modifiers.
