Rating: Summary: My Favorite Since Viscount Review: Probably a great many people will disagree with me when I say that prior to this book my favorite in the Bridgerton series was Viscount Who Loved Me. I don't think a great many will disagree with me when I say that Romancing Mr. Bridgerton has replaced Viscount as my favorite Julia Quinn novel and therfore my favorite romance novel, period. The dialouge between Penelope and Colin was even more snicker inducing than Viscount and this book had the added advantage of a slight mystery (Lady Whistledown's identity) to keep the reader entralled. Colin, always my favorite Bridgerton brother, is finally characterized as something other than the easy going, charming third brother that he is pictured as in the other books and Penelope grows from a tongue-tied wallflower to a woman with enough spine to suit anyone. The characters in this book are believable, likable and at times downright laughable. As for the identity of Lady W, never fear. All is revealed, but to mention her name in this review would deprive readers of the pleasure of finding out for themselves. A note to those who haven't read any of the other Bridgerton novels I would suggest you do so prior to reading this one. Not because it is vital to understand the story but because it will help you to understand the dynamic of the Bridgerton family and bsides, each of them is an excellent book well worth reading.
Rating: Summary: Worth the Hype Review: Finally, a book that was well worth the wait. The story of Colin and Penelope was been waiting in the wings with each subsequent Bridgerton novel. It seemed only fitting that Penelope should get this particular man. Way to go Penelope. Buy this book. Read the entire Bridgerton series. There are few authors whom have been able to keep up the high standards as they continue to write about the same family, each time featuring different members. Heck, the only author I can think of who has truly pulled this off before is Johanna Lindsey with the Malory clan. Well Julia Quinn you are in a class of your own with your amazing brand of humor and caring. Oh, and for finally revealing the true identity of Lady Whistledown. That is truly a moment to cherish. This is a book to cherish and put on an often reached for shelf with all the other Bridgertons so that you can read them over and over again.
Rating: Summary: more delightful romance from Quinn... Review: Quinn proves again why she is currently one of the most gifted writers of Regency romances. Continuing the Bridgerton saga with a somewhat unusual heroine and hero, Quinn brings out humor and wit as well as the romance. I bought this book one afternoon, and before I put it down, I was about 75% of the way through it. Can't wait to see how it ends! Hopefully, Quinn will continue the series as there are still Bridgerton characters to explore.
Rating: Summary: The unveiling of Mrs. Whistledown Review: What a fantastic story. I will admit that I stayed up past midnight, as I could not put the book down once I started it. JQ does Penelope (and Colin) proud. From being an over ripe citrus fruit to an amazing young woman JQ shows how this has unfolded. While in some ways this book is more for Penelope than Colin I think it is a great. The story unfolds as Colin has come home after being in Cyprus... Penelope is now a confirmed "on the shelf spinster" but still a wonderful friend. And of course there is Lady Danbury as outspoken as usual. This time she even sets forth a challenge that has the entire Ton talking. I will warn you this book will finally reveal the true identity of Lady Whistledown which will make for some surprising twists and turns. But, overall watching Colin realize what a wonderful woman the "wallflower" Penelope has become is some of the best reading I have had the pleasure of in recent months. I can hardly wait for Eloise's book!
Rating: Summary: Wow!! What a great book! Review: This book was fantastic!! I've read all of the books in the Bridgerton series, so when I saw this novel on the shelf in my local Wal-Mart, I promptly bought it, went home, and read for the next three hours. I couldn't have enjoyed my time more. Although the other books in the series were good, I think this latest installment was pure perfection. If Julia Quinn can top this novel, I'll be camped outside my local Wal-Mart for the next release!! I would like to warn would-be readers, that although the author does a good job of making this a stand alone story, I think you'll have a lot more fun reading this book if you've read the rest of the books in the series. Ms. Quinn does a wonderful job of seamlessly fitting in characters from previous books, and it's a shame not to know their backgrounds before you read this book. Most authors can't accomplish this smoothly, and she does a remarkable job of tying everything together. Yeah, Julia!!!! Keep them coming!
Rating: Summary: Worth the Wait Review: Wow! More great work, from the great Julia Quinn. Her best yet! The year wait was worth it. Besides, who dosen't like Colin! Yea!
Rating: Summary: funny wonderful Review: i must say i really enjoyed this book right from the beginning and it is a great read. Penolope and Colin are such a fine match. Colin is so charming and Penelope may act a bit shy in the first place but she turned as witty as any woman who doesn't make their debut in society much. All in all this book is great and I highly reccomend it to anyone who haven't got one of the taste from quinn's best book.
Rating: Summary: Is that you, Penelope Featherington? I didn't see you... Review: The story of Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington. This was undoubtedly one of the oddest, but sweetest, romances I have read in some time. The heroine is not particularly engaging. Infact, she's terribly ordinary. At least that's what you see at first. And that's what Colin has been seeing for 11 years. Their love does not bloom spontaneously- no lightening bolts. It simply starts as a smile and slowly builds into what we all know as undying love. *sigh* Applause for Julia Quinn! She took the formulaic romance and turned it on its ear, appealing to the wallflower in all of us.
Rating: Summary: This one definitely dragged.... Review: I've read the other Bridgerton romances, and found this one completely uninspiring. Naturally, having met 'poor Penelope' in the other stories (I tried to read them in order), I could not get excited about her finding love, finally. I also got a little tired of the 'this son doesn't have the title but he does have a fat purse, engaging smile, yadda yadda.' I kept wanting to shout, 'Get on with it!' This is the first one I've put down without finishing. It's still not finished, and has been relegated to a certain room in my house. The ultimate book insult.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Heroine - 4.5 stars Review: The very best heroines are those you'd like to be more like, and/or those with whom you'd like to be friends. Penelope Featherington fits into the latter category perfectly. She's an absolutely wonderful character - one of my favorites and along with her contemporary Kate Sheffield (from The Viscount Who Loved Me), the ideal from which I judge all other heroines.
As for Colin - well, I was already half in love with him after the first two books in this series (The Duke and I and The Viscount...). Colin is the perfect combination of adorable, sexy and vulnerable.
A thoroughly entertaining read.
Wholeheartedly recommended.
