Rating: Summary: Still my favorite Review: This is one book I can read over and over again. Mcnaught will draw you into her stories and make you fall in love with her heroes. I laughed, cried and was so involved in the book that it was hard to let go when I finished it.
Rating: Summary: Captivating Review: I can not put this down, this is a great read. There is mystery, romance and it is so sweet and somewhat realistic..:D
Rating: Summary: Paradise is not really paradise! Review: The heroine has the upper hand toward the hero throughout the book. And I don't believe in unbalanced relationship. I don't know why this book got so many good reviews, actually,I think this is the worst book the author has ever written. I'll still stick to my favorite JM books, like "Perfect","Whitney, My Love","Almost Heaven". Don't waste your money on this one!
Rating: Summary: extraordinary Review: This was actually my introduction to romance novels instead of just 100-pager stories. But I have to say that the second time around was better.Matt is intelligent, dominating, intense, sinfully handsome, determined, sweet, loving, and from the wrong side of the tracks. Meredith is gentle, kind, heartstoppingly beautiful, elegent, intelligent, and is a rich heiress of a nationwide, exclusive department store chain...with a father who refuses to let her do anything because he thinks that she will take after her mother, who he believed, had cheated on him all those years ago. The night they meet, a bond was automatically established...a kiss shared...and her father witnessed it. Seething mad and claiming that she is no better than her mother, he tears Meredith apart. Full of hurt, she gives herself to Matt to get back at her dad...and becomes pregnant. Matt agrees to marriage and they live with each other for six days before Matt has to go to Venezuela to work in the mines (he needs the bonus as investment for his future plans). But they have already fallen in love...until Meredith's father tears them apart...and causes them to hate each other for the next eleven years... As they meet again, Matt one of the world's most eligible bachelors, Meredith engaged to be married in two months, there is still an undeniable attraction and connection and when Matt finds out that they are still married, he plans to use it as a way to embarrass both Meredith and her father, the people who have caused him so much hurt and anguish. Halfway through this, they both discover their father's part in their separation, and Matt no longer wants a divorce, forcing Meredith to spend time with him in order to rekindle their love. As suspicions are planted into her head again by her father, Meredith has to decide whether she will trust Matt wholeheartedly. It's an extremely touching story, with side stories that I wish were more developed (between her father and her mother, between her best friend and her fiance). Matt is the ULTIMATE man and Meredith the PERFECT woman. They are a pair made in romance-book heaven! He is her match in every way. And the love that he has for her is so true and pure. When he discovers the truth, he determinedly wins her back, though his heart is trembling every single step of the way. And while Meredith tries to resist him, the flame that had never really died, roars back to life...and she is powerless not to fall in love all over again...or fall in love harder than before. I HIGHLY recommend this story!
Rating: Summary: Absolutely Amazing! Review: This is that 2nd Judith McNaught book that I've read. I loved "Perfect" and adored Matt and Meredith then, so much that I knew I had to read about their love story in "Paradise." I fell in love with them even more. God, do men like Matt exist in the real world?!! Where can we women find someone like him? He could be evil and heartless to everyone else, but to the woman he loves, he could and would move "heaven and earth for." The story is so wonderfully written that you can follow every emotion that comes between the two of them. By the end, you do feel how perfect they are for each other, and makes you wish LOVE like that, transpire in the real world! When I finished this book, I got a bittersweet feeling afterward. I rooted for the lovers, but then I couldn't help but wish that someone, like Matt, could love me like that too. Does a woman have to be as beautiful, rich, and smart as Meredith to be loved by a man like Matt? McNaught's characters and their story seem so real that you almost want to go on a search, and find out what has happened to them since their story ended. And then, wish them well on their love and happiness. Sounds bizarre, but that was how I felt at the end of the book. I loved "Perfect." I loved "Paradise" even more. Most of all, I love Judith McNaught. This book is above 5 stars.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely Wonderful... Review: This was the first Judith M. novel that I read and I could not put it down! Meredith is your typical teenager in the beginning of the book, wanting to be impulsive but afraid to upset her father, until she meets Matt, a man her father considers from the wrong side of the tracks. There is instantaneous attraction and a hasty marraige because of an unplanned pregnancy. I believed from the minute Matt met Meredith that he was smitten with her, although he never told her before too many misunderstandings and lack of communication (literally) kept them apart for 11 long years. Her heart is broken during this time, although you get the impression that she was quite naive and did not realize what she felt for Matt was love. She moves on with her life although she has intimaciy issues and uses work as an excuse. Matt's heart is not only broken, but distroyed as he realized that they shared a special love. He, of course, gets around for 11 years and creates a financial empire far exceeding his expectations, but never loves again. Business draws them back together and the truth about what happened long ago comes slowly to the surface, with each of them harboring their own unfounded grudges against each other. Once Matt realizes what really transpired he is more determined than ever to get her back. When I saw that this book was over 700 pages long I wondered how JM was going to drag it out. Every facet of her story is riveting and inspiring and does not actually seem long enough. I fell in love with Matt, too, and wished I had a friend like Meredith. Their characters are so well done that I actually wept at many points during the story and I laughed at purposefully funny parts, Matt's chauffeur/bodyguard Joe cracked me up in almost every scene he was in. I hated Matt for being insensitive as if he had hurt me and felt Meredith's pain when she felt he had betrayed their love. Only a truly great storyteller could pull emotions out of me as if I were actually in the story. I felt their love, their humor, their pain and their joy...A truly wonderful book that made me buy any and all JM books that I could get my hands on!!!
Rating: Summary: An Enchanting Tale Review: Judith McNaught's Paradise is outstanding. It is a romance novel unlike any other. McNaught uses her unique imagination to create an exhilarating storyline that incorporates romance and mystery to captivate her readers. A story of two strangers from different worlds, meeting by chance and instantly sharing an attraction. Matt and Meredith, both young, ambitious and unexpecting of the difficult path their lives will lead after one night. Astounded with the course of Meredith's life, her father Philip is vindictive and uses his authority to manipulate Matt to force him out of Meredith's life. Even after 11 years of separation, as the truth unfolds of her fathers doings, Meredith and Matt relive their past and come to realize the love they once had may still exist. This is an engaging and heartwarming tale. It's so riveting you won't want to put it down.
Rating: Summary: Another 2 in the morning page turner! Review: Most romance novels are formulaic, with a thin plot to justify the sex. But this is the third Judith McNaught book I've read, and I have to say, she definitely is not formulaic! All of her books that I've read have well developed plots and interesting characters, and they evoke tons of emotion. Her books don't need the sex to hold them up! The romance, the dialog, depth of feeling between the characters, all gave this novel a believable feel to it. You can really believe that Matt would also be crying when Meredith tells him about the baby, or that he really brings home contracts to read. You can believe Meredith when she tells the board to "go to h..." then not letting her pride or her nervousness get in the way when she goes to the party... I cried so much reading this book. I made up extra dialog for the details that were missing (Did she ever get the letters back from her dad? What did she say when she finally met Julie at the party and saw that was the woman from the picture?) I went back and reread parts of it over and over again, and cried again the second time! I haven't been this involved with the characters since Whitney, My Love. JM has moved way up on my favorite authors list, I'll have to go dig out all the rest of her books now too! Have a box of tissues and be prepared to stay up all night!
Rating: Summary: A Book You Won't Want to Put Down Review: I am the type of reader that sticks with authors I know and am familiar with. I decided I needed to broaden my horizons and try a new author and chose this book. WOW! Am I glad I did! I took it with me on a long weekend vacation and couldn't put it down the entire weekend. I am now trying some of her other books. This is definitly a GREAT one to read!
Rating: Summary: Perfect!!!! Review: This was actually my first Judith McNaught book and I absolutely loved it!!! After reading it I immediately tried more of her books, but so far, nothing compares to this book. I thought the characters were great and the story was...beautiful. It was in every way perfect, or at least for me. I love heartwrenching stories and this was one of them. There were some parts in the story that I guessed, like who was going to end up with who, but the story was still great. I highly recommend buying it, you'll definately want to go back and re-read it once in a while, if not every chance you get. :)
