Rating: Summary: Man of my Dreams Review: I loved this book. It was a great inspirational story. When I read it for the first time I was pregnant for my first child that I happened to name Devlin. Thank you Johanna Lindsey!!!
Rating: Summary: Hot Chemistry Here!!! Review: "Man of My Dreams" is fun! The first of three novels set in England and Scotland around the 1900s, "Man" is the story of beautiful redhead Megan, a squire's daughter with high ambitions, and the duke-in-disguise who she falls for when she thinks him a lowly horse breeder.
Megan and Devlin have serious chemistry together. From the moment they meet, they can't take their eyes off each other. Their repartee is just as steamy - it seems all they talk about is the various pleasures they so desperately want to give each other.
I love their clash of wills and the crazy ride through Scotland, where we meet the reaver Lachlan (who has his own story in "Love Me Forever"). The story does slow down a bit towards the end - I, too, felt just like Megan when she complained she wanted her lusty, insulting "horse breeder" back in place of the stuffy Duke that Devlin becomes.
All in all, "Man of My Dreams" is a wild romp in the hay. Devlin is a great male lead with a life of his own, Megan adorable with her conversations with herself, and the storyline focused and satisfying. Plus, it sizzles with passion.
FYI: It has two sequels: "Love Me Forever" and "The Pursuit."
Rating: Summary: What this led to Review: This was the first book that I purchased by Johanna Lindsey. It was at a local Walgreens over 10 years ago. I loved it from the very beginning, and when I finished, I started it again, immediately! It the led to one purchase after another, until it was to the point that I didn't even read the backs anymore!! I now own every book she has written (some in paperback and hardcover). To date, my library consists of 400+ historical romance books by various authors. Johanna is at the top of the list for favorite authors STILL!! I LOVED EVERY book, and eagerly (and sometimes impatiently) await the next!!!
Rating: Summary: Thoroughly disappointing Review: I usually enjoy Ms. Lindsey's books-- plenty of laughter and tears is par for the course. Man of My Dreams, however, was sorely lacking in both. The plot had some possibilities in the beginning but went nowhere. The characters were irritating and there was little development. I will continue to read (and enjoy) Ms. Lindsey's work, but this book is certainly NOT worth the time or money and does not measure up.
