Summary: A Spellbinding, Erotic Story
Review: I'm fairly new to Christine Feehan's books and have not read her Dark series, but after reading Shadow Game I'll definitely look for anything this author writes! Her characters exist in a world of lies and deception, brought together on a level that is both elemental and sensual. Ryland and Lily are memorable for both their strengths and their vulnerabilities...this was a page turner from the very beginning and it's going to be difficult to wait for Feehan's next book in this series.

Summary: A FAN FROM THE BEGININNG
Review: I've been reading her books since the first one. I have enjoyed them all. When she first came out she was one of the few who wrote about vampires that I would read. I like the new direction she's going with this book. I hope she does more on this subject and with these heroes.

Summary: A Little Boring--2 1/2 Stars
Review: I've read ALL of Feehan's books and have reread many of them because I loved them so much. This story, however, was boring. I found myself skipping paragraphs then skipping pages. There were a lot of repetitive conversations and thoughts. Both Lily and Ryland thought the same things over and over. Also, although I find this shocking (coming from me) the sex scenes WERE redundant. It just got to be enough already. I really found it hard to believe that after Lily was punched in the face and slapped around and dragged by her hair, she would want to have sex that very same evening with Ryland. That's really stretching it.
It was not as well written as her other stories. It's definitely not a re-read for me.

Summary: A Game worth buying...
Review: If you enjoy Ms. Feehan's Dark series about the vampiric Carpathians, you'll enjoy this book. No blood-sucking, but it does have a paranormal twist, including a long-distance love scene that's absolutely "dreamy". Like her Carpathian's, the characters in Shadow Game can communicate telepathically. The love scenes are very sensual and the plot is intriguing.

Again, the main complaint that I have... and the reason why I'm not rating this book a 5 star... is her overly frequent use of the catch phrase: "take his/her breath away". You don't even get 4 pages into this one before it appears and at one point it occurs once each on facing pages. It appears SO OFTEN in this book (and actually, in ALL her books) that it's amazing her characters don't die of asphyxiation! Once, twice, three times TOPS is more than enough... I wish either she or her editor would search for the darn words and delete them! They aren't necessary.

Summary: This author is soooo good...
Review: It is said that humans only use a fraction of their brains. Peter Whitney, a scientific genius, dreamed of changing that. In his labs, a group of elite soldiers is held in an isolated imprisonment, a group of trained human lab rats, designed to enhance their psychic abilities. When one of his men disappears from his mind, Ryland Miller, the group's leader, knows that it is time to act. He has to find a way to break himself and his men out and escape. Freedom is their only hope of survival. Unexpectedly, he is able to make a connection with Lily, Dr. Whitney's brilliant daughter. After her father is murdered, Lily becomes dedicated to helping Ryland. She has her own reasons; Lily has learned a horrifying secret aboout herself, and she has fallen in love with the man who walks through her dreams, Ryland.

**** Ms. Feehan reveals new depths to her talent in this edgy thriller. Love has a whole new aspect when two people can join in heart and mind, not just body. Edgy and sensual, this world is as complex and modern as the Carpathian world is moody and steeped in history. Seeing where this new plot can go will be a journey worth taking. ****

Summary: Whats with the bad revews?
Review: Like all the other Feehan fans, I love the Carpathian series. I thought this was a good first book for a new series. "New" being the key word. Some people read this thinking it would be like those books, and disappointed because its not. Well, its not. The book is a good beginning book. It has a good story line, hot like Feehans books are and it gives you a good idea of how the series is going to go on. Its got its suspense and then was so funny I was laughing out loud. Its an opener, a good one. Lily is a sweetheart and Ryland is a good man. I love the rest of the team and will keep reading this series. I have read the second book too, Mind Game and thought it was a good continuation of the Ghostwalker story and loved Nicolas and Dahlia. The series is promising and good. But not like the Carpathian books. They are addicting in their own way.

Summary: OK Read.
Review: Like many fans out there, I first began reading Christine Feehan through her Dark Series, which I really enjoy. So I decided to give her newest book "Shadow Game" a chance, even though it is not part of the Dark Series.

Shadow Game started strongly, and the premise was interesting. Both the main characters, Lily and Ryland, also seemed very interesting and their interactions were in typical Feehan style, wrought with humor and sexual tension. The secondary characters added to the background and it is obvious that Feehan plans to write more sequels to this book later on.

However, by the middle of the book, the story started to drag and by the end it lost steam. The book involved some scenes of Lily and Ryland, which I felt were not really necessary to the storyline (Sure I like the love scenes like any one else, but after awhile it became repetitive.) I found myself skipping pages. As a result, it felt like the storyline was pushed to the side. At the end, everything ends abruptly. The bad guys are found out and caught in one simple twist. The whole thing turned out to be anticlimatic.

All in all, it was ok. Not great reading but a passable attempt by Christine Feehan. Hopefully she will do better next time, if she does decide to continue with this series.

Summary: Shadow Game Not Up To Par
Review: Like many, I am a big Christine Feehan fan based on my enjoyment of her Carpathian series, ("Dark Prince," "Dark Desire"). So I picked up "Shadow Game," looking forward to something new from the author. I settled down to a good read and, unfortunately, found myself disappointed. There are too many convoluted twists and turns for the novel to be a credible mystery thriller. The writing seems forced, and frequently over-embellished. The characters are much flatter than Ms. Feehan's usually impressive offerings. Her secondary characters are basically indistinguishable.

Captain Ryland Miller of the U.S. Army Special Forces is the leader of a band of men, military and civilian, who are all gifted with exceptionally high natural clairvoyant abilities. The group volunteered to participate in a Top Secret military experiment which would utilize their paranormal talents. Dr. Peter Whitney, a wealthy and brilliant scientist, had attempted, through research and a series of experiments to mold the men into a powerful military weapon, an elite squadron, using their honed paranormal skills. Each man can communicate telepathically and influence the minds of others around him. A few of them have additional gifts, like telekinesis. But something has gone terribly wrong with the project. The men have experienced migraines, seizures and some have even died. When they decided to cease and desist, they were placed in cage-like cells and held against their will in an underground laboratory. Treated like lab rats, denied contact with one another, their morale and emotional states are in drastic decline. Captain Miller is certain someone has sabotaged the experiment and will do anything to free his comrades and discover the facts surrounding their illnesses and deaths.

Enter Dr. Lily Whitney, Peter Whitney's daughter, who has some impressive paranormal skills of her own. Of course, she is sympathetic to Miller's predicament and, of course, sparks fly between the two as soon as she walks through the lab door. Caged Alpha-male and lovely, empathetic scientist - what else would you expect? When she attempts to discover just what is endangering the men involved in the experiment, her father is mysteriously murdered. Lily is determined to find out who the murderer is - and probably discover the saboteur at the same time. She and the Captain might be able to be of mutual assistance.

There's so much potential in this paranormal plot outline, that I feel like the author has let possible magic slip through her fingers. In spite of all my criticism, the book is worth reading. It will probably hold your interest - but is just not up to Ms. Feehan's usual standards.

Summary: Fantastic new book!
Review: Shadow Game is a fast paced mind thriller. Dr. Lily Whitney is placed into danger with the death of her father and into a secret mind experiment with the military. She comes into contact with Captain Ryland Miller and the men under his command trying to sustain their lives and sanity. I loved the interaction of the characters with death a real possibility around every corner. This book is a real wonderful addition to Ms. Feehan growing number of stories. I very much look forward to her next book.
