Summary: Second in Series is lots of fun!
Review: "Captive Star" is the second book in the "Stars of Mithra" series and is a very enjoyable read. It is quite important with this trilogy to read the books in order, as each one builds on the previous one.
In this instalment we meet MJ and Jack. Jack Dakota is a bounty hunter or "skip tracer." He receives an assignment to pick up MJ and bring her in, but things are not as simple as they seem. Jack meets his match in MJ O'Leary, a feisty bar owner, and the opening scene is action-packed. But these two soon have to work together as an enormous man shows up waving a gun in their faces. MJ and Jack escape, but Jack is furious that he was set-up with phoney paperwork and dropped in the middle of this mess. To top it off, MJ isn't talking, not even when Jack discovers that she has one of the three Stars of Mithra in her purse (a huge blue diamond).
The chemistry between Jack and MJ is highly entertaining and they are both wonderful strong characters. They begin to trust each other as they realize that they are going to have to work together in order to solve this mystery and keep alive! The adventure these two share is exciting and intriguing. As they run from the killers pursuing them, Jack and MJ fall head over heels in love, and the reader is treated to some wonderfully sexy scenes.
The mystery of the Stars of Mithra is highly engaging and will draw the reader right in. Jack and MJ are both great characters and their relationship is a pleasure to follow. This book will have your pulse pounding one minute and then will have you laughing out loud the next. This fun-filled book is certainly worth the read, so sit back and enjoy!

Summary: Funny!
Review: A very good and amusing read. The main characters are strong and very sexy! Another great book by Nora Roberts. I highly recommend all her books.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: non stop action
Review: Although this is the 2nd book of the series, I found it better than the first {but that was also good}. For those of you who are "Eve Dallas" fans, as I am, M.J. is alot like her. As for Jack, well lets just say that is a male version. This book gave non-stop action. It gave you every bit of romance, murder, thrills, and quite a few laughs. The relationship with M.J. and Jack is not just romance, but a "I can kick your butt better"; and with that it reminds you of what they are trying to unravel. There is no better match in this series than M.J. and Jack. They can love eachother in one breath and then get to serious fighting the next {sometimes it's with eachother}. I suggest to read the first "Hidden Star" so that you can get the true back ground, even thought Roberts' does a great job of informing you if you haven't read it.

Summary: a quick read
Review: and with a few exceptions, good. i could not get past the fact that these 2 knew eachother for less than 24 hours and are confessing to one another that they are in love....silly. just because its a cheesy romance doesnt mean it can be unrealistic!!

Summary: Great read!
Review: As always, Nora Roberts delivers the goods. This _is_ fast-paced suspense and the best title in the Stars of Mithra trilogy. The opening scene alone is worth the read! This one's a keeper.

Summary: Save Your Money
Review: Captive Star, the latest book to come off the Nora Roberts assembly line, demonstrates why more is not always better. Roberts' readers would be better served if the author would cut her production in half and concentrate more on crafting high-quality, thoughtful books, instead of pounding out thoughtless, quick reads.

Usually Roberts' heroes save her novels, but not in this case. Readers will be rolling their eyes as Roberts trys to make us fall for a bounty hunter with the soul of a philosopher/anthropologist/English major. As if hero Jack Dakota is not bad enough, readers are asked to accept heroine M.J. O'Leary. Not only is she cute, but she's a fifth degree black belt, owns her own bar (oh, excuse me, Pub)and acts as the place's bouncer. However, she, too, has the soul of a philosopher/anthropologis/English major. Roberts takes what could have been a cute plot and ruins it with obnoxious, over-the-top characters. Dakota and O'Leary are so annoying and unappealing that this book doesn't even succeed as a quick escape from the real world. Buy this book and you'll find yourself looking for a way to escape from it.

Summary: Not Absorbing...
Review: I can't say that I've enjoyed this book tremendously. Somehow this Nora Roberts book is not as good as her others. It has reminded me of Hong Kong movie star, Jackie Chan's movies, where the good guys run away from the bad guys and there were fighting scenes in between.

"Captive Star" tells the story of a bounty hunter, Jack, who has fallen in love for the first time with a lady, M.J., while they were both running away from a bunch of killers. This book is the second of a trilogy. The other two are the stories of M.J.'s best buddies. The three books are linked in a way that the three buddies (M.J., Grace and Bailey) were all running away from the same bunch of bad guys all because of three diamonds that each acquire from Bailey.

I feel that this book has many lose ends, such as M.J. has found Bailey, but what has happened to Grace? I think you have read all three books to find out. For me, I read this one first, so I feel a bit lost. I still don't know what those bad guys want the diamonds for. For non-Nora Roberts fans, maybe you can skip this one. For Nora Roberts fans, I suggest reading the trilogy in order, maybe it'll make more sense this way.

One thing I found refreshing in this book was that the couple would admit inhesitantly to the love they felt for each other even though they had decided that they were in love a wee bit too fast! Love struck in a matter of a couple of days? Maybe it's more lust than love... I believe it is due to the fact that this is a short story.

I strongly recommend "Night Shield". I think it's a better book than "Captive Star".

Summary: A good story
Review: I liked this one, though not as much as the first in the series. MJ and Jack were definitely a great match. There is a lot of action in this one, and a ton of sparks between MJ and Jack. They rarely stop their bantering, and when they do, then they have fireworks of a different kind. The plot on this one is a little far fetched, but none of the plots in this trilogy are very realistic. This is escape reading at its best!
