TO FIND A MAN OR WOMAN WHO LOVES YOU FOR YOU AND WHO WILL TREAT YOU LIKE YOU ARE THE ONLY ONE THAT MATTERS MOST. THIS BOOK WAS AWESOME AND IT DID NOT HAVE A DULL MOMENT AT ALL. ENOUGH DRAMA AND DIALOUGE TO KEEP YOU GUESSING AND WANTING MORE. I DID NOT WANT THIS BOOK TO END. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!!!!

Summary: Another Man's Wife
Review: This is a "MUST READ". I couldn't put the book down...finished it in one night. Shonda Cheekes has hit the map with Another Man's Wife. The book is very well paced. You don't have to recall a chapter to find out what is going on with the character. Each chapter has a steady flow. The book grabs you from the beginning and you can't stop until you find out how it's all going to end. Yani and Alex were far more the best two characters. Asia was doing her thang and I was shocked to find out the real story of Jarrin when the drama began to unfold. I can't wait to read her next book...Good Job and keep them coming.

Summary: If you love a Great Read- This is a MUST BUY!
Review: To those readers who look at reviews, you can appreciate what I am about to say. Most of us know that most of the story lines are "not believable"- but if you are like me,you also are reading for the possibilites that the story can bring.

A great book is one that captures your attention, keeps you in it until the end..and has you wanting more! A great author is one who can use their skills to keep you wanting more. This book does it and more. I would say to you that this is one of the best I have read in quite some time. "Another Man's Wife" is a secret treasure. If you love a great story, and love a wonderful read, this book is for you. From the moment I picked up the book, I was mesmerized, and did not put it down until I finished. I literally completed reading this book in one day.

In a world where African American men are not given their proper due, Yani & Alex's story was refreshing. The way the story is written transports you right to their world. Yani's sister Asia keeps her in check, with her quirky remarks and her deep love for her sister. Carmen and Bruce have you laughing, We all know a couple just like them in our lives. If you have ever had that one love in your life that has left you heartbroken and the relationship unresolved, then you can certainly empathize with Yani. We all know a "Yani" out there who has clung onto a "Jarrin" never really giving up hope. You can also imagine a man like Alex, powerful, loving, successful, our own "African American Prince Charming if you will. Alex is what we all have in the special men in our lives- It's these characteristics that make him believable and lovable moreso than his economic stature. His love, committment, and strength is what we come to love about him.

For those of you who are interested, I have learned that a sequel indeed is coming in 2005-I can hardly wait!

All hail to Ms. Cheekes- I personally look forward to future reads!

Summary: Great Reading
Review: This book is definitely a great read. I enjoyed it so much I wish they would make a movie based on it. I do however agree with one reader (the one that gave it 3 stars) when she stated they could gave a little more detail on Jarrin. I also agree that certain parts of the book where sorta unbelievable but yet it was a wonderful read for me. I read this book in 2 days because I just couldn't put it down.

Summary: Hallariously romantic with a twist of drama
Review: Shonda Cheekes novel Another Man's Wife is an intriguing love story of a marriage gone bad to make room for love everlasting. She crafted her characters with real personalities, showing real emotion. I thought that her plot was not only entertaining but also imaginable.

Yani Miller, thought she had the life of Ms. Cleaver until her husband up and disappeared in thin air. She searched, prayed and cried for years for his return. Stuck in her past it was impossible for her to build a future until she met Mr. Debonair Extraordinaire Alex Chance. After five long years of waiting she welcomed love everlasting. She let the burdens of her past fall and declared her previous husband to be dead to allow her life to move forward. Only to find that her previous husband Jarrin Miller to snake his way back end. Confused by what was and what could be she got caught up in the past. To find that Jarrin had moved on without so much as a thought of what he left behind.

This is a good book that illustrates that anything worth having is worth sacrifice and all that looks good just may not be good. This book has a mediocre beginning but it holds you, where you just cannot seem to put it down. Midway through the book, I was hooked to the very end. I would recommend this book as a good rainy day book.

Summary: Shonda, you have the right formula!!!
Review: After hitting a slump in reading...I found a book that gave me the kick I needed! Once I began...the pages kept turning and turning! A story that gives you that romantic feel...tear-eyed feel...anger feel, and suspense feel all in one storyline. With each chapter dedicated to each character of the book, you are able to know the thoughts and actions of each person in detail...which makes the story believable. I can't wait until the sequel!

Summary: GAAL Book Club
Review: This book was a very smooth reader. Once you realized that each chapter was based on one of the characters in the book it made the reading more of a visual. We can all relate to Carmen, intelligent, successful and a smart mouth. Then there's Asia, who makes you know that you have a real friend in her. Let's not forget Yani, who we all know is a little naive but has a beautiful spirit. Hallelujah for Alex and Bryce to help us GAAL's keep hope that there are still good men left. We all like happy endings, so thank you Shonda for leaving us with a smile and a positive spirit. It's nice to see our loved ones living happily ever after. This was a true example of the blessings you may be missing when you continue to live in the past. Very postive book and I can't wait to read the next one.

Summary: A REALLY GOOD PAGE TURNER, A GOOD BOOK
Review: WHEN I FIRST HEARD ABOUT THIS BOOK I JUST HAD TO HAVE IT. BUT WHEN I GOT IT. IT TOOK ME A WHILE TO PICK IT UP AND READ IT BUT ONCE I DID PICK IT UP I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN. THE AUTHOR GIVES YOU JUST ENOUGH ABOUT A CHARACTER AND THEN GO TO THE NEXT AND SHE PULLS YOU IN LIKE THAT. i CANT WAIT TO READ SOME MORE OF HER WORK.

Summary: couldn't put it down
Review: fortunately for me, were having a winter blizzard that would leave me trapped at home with my husband, the soccer channel, and (THANK GOD!!) Another Man's Wife. i had time on my hands, and i started the book, intending to read it, along with some others, over the next several days. think again! i couldn't put the book down. i was so feeling the main character and her desire to hang onto the ghost husband who'd disappeared, but i was still relieved when she met a man who seemed trustworthy and ideal. i was pulling for the new relationship and even identified with the main character's sister. no problems there, right? but then the story began to spiral into suspense and drama, and i got caught up! my hubby had to order in chinese and leave me alone while i spent the whole day and the whole night finishing the book. it was a really nice escape from reality-- very well-developed, and very believable, even the ending!
