Rating: Summary: Classic futuristic plot with original elements Review: A star ship captain, a prince, a robot and an abducted earth woman are the basic players in this futuristic romance. Cohl Travers has identified Tess MacKenzie's voice as the element to save his father, who is incidentally the ruler of Cohl's planet, and rather than drop in and explain things to Tess, he's abducted her. Although shocked and unwilling initially, basically Tess comes around with the help of Cohl's mother, and buys into the idea. Just in time to be abducted again by the baddie of the piece, who wants the amulet and the voice that will release and activate it for himself. Cohl takes off after Tess, who instinctively relies on him to do so. Fair maiden is saved by handsome adventurer, and now they're in this thing together.Yes, there's a lot that is classic in this futuristic romance, but that it not to say that this tale gets tired. The action moves along at a good pace, there's elements of danger throughout, and there is enough heat between Cohl and Tess to keep interest fresh. It's not a groundbreaker, but it is a good example of it's type.
Rating: Summary: A Stellar Adventure! Review: A thrilling read from start to finish. Fast-paced, sizzlingly sexy, and laugh out loud funny. Definitely one for the "keeper" shelf!

Rating: Summary: UNEARTHED -- one of the best! Review: As an avid reader of futuristic romance, I found CJ Barry's debut novel an exciting and powerful read. She carries her readers to a futuristic world of interesting characters and a solid plot. UNEARTHED will go on my keeper shelf! I looked forward to Ms. Barry's next book!
Rating: Summary: Fabulous Futuristic! Review: CJ Barry is a wonderfully talented author. I enjoyed Unearthed immensely. She creates vivid imagery, snappy dialogue, a solid plot, and larger-than-life characters. Her books belong on every readers Keeper Shelf.
Rating: Summary: Took Me Two Weeks To Read Review: Cohl Travers unearths Tess MacKenzie and involves her in a difficult artifact acquisition that will save his father's life. Her voice is all that can free an amulet. His adventuring skills can get them there. I read the first half the book in a few days, then the ending started to get tedious. After reading that it was "un-putdownable fun" I was a little disappointed in the adventure and it ended up taking me two weeks to finish because I couldn't get attached enough to read more than a chapter or two a day. But Cohl and Tess were fun characters to read about, and I was happy they got together. I enjoyed the adventure in the next book Unravelled much more.
Rating: Summary: Great space adventure, but the hero wasn't there for me Review: Fleeing a mugging, Tess MacKenzie runs into Cohl Travers and ends up getting kidnapped from Earth instead. Cohl's father has been kidnapped by one of two warring brothers that will exchange a human life for a magical amulet. In order to free the amulet, Cohl needs Tess to sing a complicated song from an extinct race of people; it will mean her life if she so much as messes up one note. Tess, sees this as another duty that stands in-between her and her life long dream of a singing career. But as the pair works together, she finds that duty isn't so bad when performed with someone you care about. Now if only she can convince Cohl of this. With most novels, we have our complicated hero who is more than he seems. UNEARTHED is no different. Cohl is running from his noble past and while he loves his people, he doesn't want to be tied down to the planet. Because of Tess, you can see him growing and developing as a character, but I had a really hard time with the fact that even though it was Tess who ultimately would put her life in peril, he wouldn't talk to her about the dangers she would face unless she nagged him; which justifiably annoyed Tess. I guess I felt that even though it was a pretty grim task he was putting before her, he should have been more willing to help her prepare for it rather than try and conceal the dangers she would face. Because of this, I wasn't sucked into the book as much as I would have expected. On the other hand, I really liked Tess as a person. Throughout the ordeal she remains positive expecting to be able to return home after acquiring the amulet. Once back on Earth, she hopes she will be able to put her life back together and become a famous singer. Ms Barry has written a wonderful space adventure that was exciting to follow. The planets you will visit are wondrous and because you are seeing them for the first time through Tess' eyes, I felt they were described very well. I was fascinated. But because Cohl never talks with Tess about important issues (and almost looses her to boot) I can't see how the relationship worked. Even though they did fall in love, I have to go with 3 stars. This is a great fantasy but the hero wasn't there for me. I am however REALLY looking forward to the sequel!
Rating: Summary: Couldn't put it down... Review: I loved UNEARTHED! I laughed, I cried, and was thrilled with the descriptions of worlds far away. UNEARTHED had everything I'm looking for in a great romance! I fell in love with the characters and felt like I was on a mission with them. I can't wait to read more of CJ Barry's work!
Rating: Summary: AWESOME!! Review: I read UNEARTHED in one day, and loved everything about it. The story is fast-paced with lots of action, romance, and plot to keep the reader interested and looking for more. What I look for in a sci-fi is realism: I want to believe that the story could take place (with a little imagination), and that I could actually go to the worlds presented. I felt that Ms. Barry handled the other worlds beautifully, so that I could be swept away by the depth of the characters and the well-developed plot. I can't wait for her next book to come out!
Rating: Summary: Sizzling and Superb Review: If you want a book to read at the beach this summer, buy this one, but find a cool place in the shade! It's a HOT, fun science fiction romance, and you won't want to put it down until you're done reading it (another reason to sit in the shade :-). There's absolutely NOTHING wrong with this book--which is amazing for someone so new to the scene--but EVERYTHING was right. When LoveSpell signed on this new author, they really knew what they were doing. I can't wait to see what C.J. Barry comes out with next!
