Review: Awesome series, but, what do you expect from Sherrilyn Kenyon writing under a different name. LOL She is the best author around no doubt, I have yet to read a book by her under either name that I did not completly love!!! So for those of you that didn't know thats who Kinley MacGregor really was, check out her other books under Sherrilyn Kenyon, you won't be disappointed.

Summary: Raw and Powerful
Review: Book Two of the "MacAllister" series was to me, raw and brutally emotional. My heart was in my throat for practically the entire book and I found tears more often than not running down my face. Frankly, I had to keep reminding myself that 'this is fiction' and just a book - but WOW talk about engaging all of your emotions! I sensed from Sin's introduction while reading 'Claiming the Highlander' that his story would be emotional and I was not disappointed. Born of an English noblewoman; sired by the laird of the MacAllister's - he was shunned by both. Banished and disowned by his Scottish father he learned early in life to despise his Scottish heritage and the English treated him no better. Sin - not to be confused with Cynric was, called lad for some time until as a child he was brutally told that he was conceived in sin, born in sin and would die in sin. Up until then, never held or loved - he thought - people loved sin - why not claim the name. His story of survival is heart wrenching and the author gives you a no holds barred look of a child's heart so severely abused that it would take an amazing feat to bring it back to life - if at all.

Enter Caledonia "Callie" MacNeely, King Henry's political prisoner and pawn to be used in a plot to bring down the infamous 'Raider' of the Highlands. King Henry, would cajole Sin into a marriage with the beautiful Scotswoman so that Sin could infiltrate, find, and bring the 'Raider' to justice. From the moment, Callie met the dark knight, she felt danger but also an amazing awareness and heat at his touch. She heard the dark whispers speaking of atrocities this man had committed but she saw and sensed in him gentleness and kindness. With no recourse in this decreed marriage she was bound and determined to storm the impenetrable wall he had erected around the withered and bruised heart she sensed that he had closed off. The love she felt for Sin as she fought to have him admit to the feelings she knew him to have for her was fabulous. In order to break through his icy cold demeanor, she would use whatever she could including her delightful sassy humor to make even him laugh.

This was a wonderful love story that touched me deeply and was an absolutely awesome read I could not put down. It is the type that will remain in my heart for some time as well as on my keeper shelf.

Summary: It made me cry ....
Review: Born in sin is one of the best historical novels I have ever read (I have read a lot of hisotrical novels) .... and yeas, the ending did make me cry (and not because they got married or anything dimwitted like that!).

I am impressed with Kinley MacGregor's (who I will refer to as Kinley) writing style: it is humourous, deeply emotional, and smooth ... the story seems to glide along. It is perfect!

Unlike most romance novels, the "hero's" in Kinley's novels are not perfect, they are not "rakes", they are not nasty, mean, arrogant idiots! ... I will let you discover just what kind of men Kinley's heros are BUT they are truly lovely to read about.

Sin, our main man in Born in Sin, is definitely a man in need of a kind, caring women .... and Caledonia is just the women for it! Based mainly in the highlands, this is a story about hope, romance, and family ties ... and yes the rest of the MacAllisters
feature in this one, as does Simon (who I hope has his very own story, soon, too).

If you like a story with a difference, a romance that is emotionally fufilling and sweet, then this is definitely the book for you!

I actually give this book a 5++ (my top rating).

It's worth the read, and you will read it more than once .... I already have!

Summary: An angel for the lost soul
Review: For those who had read Claiming the Highlander might remember Sin, the dark brother who had been treated harshly by almost all people in his life (excluding his brothers). And for those who had read Master of Desire might be happy to find Draven's little brother Simon presence in this book.

I really shouldn't reveal too much about the story. However, I really enjoyed this book and I loved the hero and heroine.

What can I say about Sin? He was hurt too much by people around him since childhood thus he never expected any kindness from those around him. Callie was a really stubborn girl who wanted to crack the ice of Sin's cold heart. She used several weapons to do so: courage, kindness, good humor, sweet smile, patience (a lots of it!!!), herself and love.

Summary: Surviving odds
Review: From conception to adult hood "Sin" never had a chance of being loved. His mother an English aristocrat is impregnated by a Scottish adulter and finds herself never wanting the son whom ruined her life after a one time fling and lost all chances of a good union. Sin's mother gives birth to him and from the moment he is accepted into the ray of light he was given to someone else to handle as just another problem. He is sent away to live with his real father and while he is there he is forever the reminder to his step-mother of the infadelities her husband had while briefly being married. The s-donor showed his remorse by having nothing to do with his infant son "Sin" even to the point of forgetting in naming him. Sin's father sent him away to his mother hoping she would take him in and give him the life he deserves. Which only gives that bit of hope to Sin believing all mothers love there children and he would be given a home finally. But his mother didn't show any love from the moment she set eyes on him and claimed she had no eldest son and sent him back. Sin wasn't recieved well by his father and his father gave him to a prosperous noble, to relieve the tention between his wife and himself. Until the prosperous noble is robbed and to save the lives of himself and son he gave Sin away as a slave. Starved and tortured Sin is sent on missions to murder the enemies of his captors. Till one day his captors sent him on a mission and instead of killing his prey he swore forever his alliegance to the King for freedom.
Although freed and in adult hood now, Sin is still treated beyond poorly even as a knight. His King asks a favor of Sin to marry one of the neighboring enemies of his country. All he want's to do is forget his sworn oath of alliegance to his King, the last thing he wants is to have to marry because he's promised himself he would never bring another child into a world of hatred. Eventually after giving up and marrying her, his wife wants nothing more than to have a husband who loves her and shows his emotions and feelings. Sin is now torn between becoming a true and loving husband or to stay a knight sworn to give alligance to his savior.

With all the drama Sin had to face. He still came out on top his wife taught him what love is and how you should care for it. He was finally given a chance of being normal just like everyone else, being loved by the ones you care for.

Summary: Excellent, but Not Perfect
Review: Honestly, I truly loved this book. This is the first book I read by this author and the other ones that she has written have not disappointed me.

Sin is a serious, brooding man with almost nothing but cruelty for a past. Never knowing the love from parents, he became pessimistic and built a shield around his heart so that no one could get close to him. Every now and then it is seen that there were a few happy times in his life, but nothing that brought him true and utter joy. After sparing King Henry's life, he is now a wealthly earl and advisor to said king. However, raiding has been happening to English settlers in the hills of Scotland and Henry wants to stop the raids once and for all. The only solution he sees is to marry Sin to a powerful Scottish lass.

Enter Caledonia, the bold and beautiful woman who is niece to the MacNeely. Captured by Henry to ensure the ceasing of raids, she tries to escape custody more than once. In fact, Simon, the hillariously charming rake who is introduced in "Master of Desire", receives the task of guarding her and her little brother...unfortunately, both escape and Simon is none too happy about the way that they go about doing so.

When all four of them get back to Scotland, Sin is treated with open hostility and hatred by everyone but Jamie (Callie's 8-year-old brother), Morna (Callie's stepmother) and Callie herself. Sin's amusing sarcasm and fierce nature really come alive. Callie is determined to break the ice that encases his heart and goes about it in many different ways. Many of the hot-headed Highlanders thaw toward Sin once he saves a village from a crazed bull...and returns in less that a proud state. However, many are even more kind to him when they learn he is the older brother to the MacAllister men...some of the most powerful and handsome clansmen.

Death and tragedy befall on this family when a final raid on the army of King Henry is put into motion. While Sin has been sent to retrieve the raider from his wife's clan, he is reluctant to do so because he fears her hatred. So, he decides to do what he believes is the only thing to please Henry and keep his wife's love at the same time...

Will Sin and Caledonia live happily ever after or will fear and the Raider tear them apart once and for all? The answer lies in the extraordinary pages of "Born in Sin".

Summary: Another Great Kinley MacGregor Story!!!
Review: I love this author and all of her books so far! This story brings back some old friends from previous book and introduces you to some new ones.

Althought this story was a bit more sad or bittersweet then some of her other books it will still touch your heart and is well worth the read.

Sin feels that he has no family. He has always been left to his own. He is an advisor to Henry King of England and Henry has asked him to marry. Not only marry but marry a scottish lass. This is his plan to secure peace up in Scotland. Sin would rather rot then return to the Highlands. He has very few fond memories of his time there but he tells Henry he will marry the lady if he can find a priest to marry them.

Callie is living under the protection of the King. She misses her highlands and will do whatever she must to go home. She is in the process of running away when she runs literally into Sin. Little does Callie know that she has run into the arms of her future husband. Eventually she marries Sin ( I don't want to give part of the plot away) and vows to find this poor mans heart despite the fact that Sin claims that he does not have one.

Together they head to Scotland to bring peace and end the raid that have been led by an unknown Scot. Sin also does his best to keep himself isolated from his determined bride. Unfortunatly Sin does not realize how stubborn Callie can be. Callie is willing to do all that she can to bring about peace, and end the unwelcome feelings that her clan has about Sin.

This story is not as fast paced as many of this authors previous books but it is still great. You will remember Sin from the last MacAllister book. He is the...brother to Braden, Lochlan, and Ewan. You will be re-introduced to Draven and his lady Emily (Master of Desire) and of course Draven's brother Simon. I must say the Ms. MacGregor has done it again!

Summary: I will read it over and over
Review: I loved and hated this book. I became so wrapped up in the emotional torment Sin went through that I just wanted to take him home and make it all better. I cried, I laughed, I got angry. Kinley MacGregor is obviously a wonderful story teller but I think the amount of conflict in this book was just too much for a reader. In the end she wraps it up neatly by having the Step-mother beg for forgivness and the Hero feeling so in love with the Heroine that he has no problem accepting her apology. I don't know if thats plausible, but then again this is fiction. I just hope there will be more about Sin in the remaining Macallister books that show him working through his anger and feelings of rejection.
