Rating: Summary: Escapism at it¿s best! Review: Being an avid reader of Johanna Lindsey and a ravenous fan of time-travel romances, I was in heaven when I found _Until Forever_. Though admittedly not heavy reading, _Until Forever_ has a humor that kept me chuckling the entire time. Ms. Lindsey threw in just enough heart-melting love, great sex, wild passion and adventure to make it interesting. I loved the glimpses at history and how drastically things could be changed with just a bit of revision. Also, Blooddrinker's Curse was a new and refreshing way to enable the time-traveling -- one I'd not seen before. Roseleen and Thorn were both believable characters who handled the situations presented much the way you'd expect real people to react. They had an electric chemistry that was grand! Never mind the fact that I'm a sucker for a big, strong and sexy Viking! The ending was a tearjerker and a perfect climax to the story. All in all I feel Ms. Lindsey's foray into the time-traveling genre was excellent. As soon as I was finished I wanted to read it again!
Rating: Summary: boring Review: i was quite disappointed with this book when i read the synopsis i thought the story was interesting but as i start reading the book i found it boring and uninteresting. the hero and the heroine don't have any spark between them and the time travelling is not intruging at all. [..]. for time travelling book i recomend jude deveraux "the knight in shining armour" which is so well written by the author. but don't get me wrong i 'm a very ardent fan of johana but this book is a disappoinment. i think her scope is more to futurestic and historical
Rating: Summary: My first SIX star love story Review: This is an excellent story, of course I am agree that is not exactly a love story and it has some mistakes between the present of Thorn and the past of Roseleen and vice versa, but the trips between the past and the present, the way that Thorn saw the modern things are very exciting, you will laugh two or three times, but the best part of the book is the end, when you read the end, you will see that this book could it be possible. Why is not a love story? Well of course is a love story, but you are not interested in that story, you are interested in the past and the present of the book, but at the end of the book, when almost everything get fixed, you will be interested in how this love story ends, and it is worth it each word of the book
Rating: Summary: a good try Review: i have read quite a number of time travel books and this one is perhaps the best. time travel novels usually contain many faults in the settings and characters or forced coincidences, but this book virtually doesn't leave a single detail unexplained, and the explanations certainly work well. besides lindsey has a great knowledge of history and the vivid story of William the Conqueror in the book won't disappoint you. nonetheless, i feel that the main characters seem to lack chemistry. perhaps the author should have devote more space for their romance rather than let the historical part overshadow it. still worth reading, though.
Rating: Summary: A curse I want Review: The only thing to say about this book is 'Wow'. It's a delicious ride from the beginning to the very end. It makes me want to start collecting ancient weapons and finding a curse. If all the curses looked as good as Thorn, then I'm on my way to Europe. It's an enchanting love story with excellent history. It keeps the reader on their toes and is humurous to see if they could correct the mistakes they made when travelling back in time. You must read this one if you love Viking men, curses, time-hopping and a love that will go on 'Until Forever'. Happy readings.
Rating: Summary: OLD FASHION ROMACE WITH TIME TRAVEL TWIST Review: If you missed it first time around, here's your chance to snatch up a copy of Lindsey's Until Forever-a story of history, romance, and time travel. Roseleen White is a professor of history who collects antique weapons. Her latest procurement, Blooddrinker's Curse, is an antique Viking sword. It came by way of a male relative because the owner refused to sell to a woman. Instantly, Roseleen feels an unnatural need to touch it, to hold it. Once she does, lightning flashes and a Warring Viking appears. Roseleen doesn't appreciate her ex fiancé's joke. But is it a joke? Thorn Blooddrinker resides in Valhalla, the Heaven of Gods, with his brother Thor. A curse keeps Thorn under the will of the sword's owner. This owner-Roseleen-wants to see history first hand. Thorn is just as fascinated with Roseleen's era and she accommodates. The two eventually learn the slightest change can throw a universe off. Engaging entertainment and hot romance are a lethal combination in Lindsey's novels. Roseleen seems a bit too pure for a professor of her age and a Warring Viking gives in to a woman too easily, but that's what makes it an old fashioned fairy tale. Curiosity about Thorn's curse and the suspense of putting history back on track will keep the pages turning.
Rating: Summary: JRANDJFSMOM Review: THIS IS THE FIRST ROMANCE NOVEL THAT I REMEBERED THE STORY AFTER I READ IT. I LOVE THE VIKING/WARRIOR IN TODAY'S WORLD. IF YOU HAD READ COMIC BOOKS AND ARE AWARE OF ODIN AND THOR YOU WILL ENJOY IT MORE. THE FANTASY OF BLOODDRINKER'S CURSE OF THORN BEING CONTROLLED BY THE WOMEN WHO HELD THE SWORD WAS BRILLIANT. THE ENDING, HOWEVER WAS ENDED TO VAGUE.I NEEDED TO KNOW MORE ABOUT IF THE NEIGHBOR REMEMBERED WHO SHE WAS TO HIM AND OR IF HE EVEN KNEW WHAT WAS GOING ON.
Rating: Summary: Lindsey does time travel Review: Professor Roseleen White loves her subject of medieval history. She buys an ancient cursed Scandinavian sword, and in doing so conjures it's owner, a magnificent Viking warrior, Thor's brother Thorn. Thorn is understandably somewhat bitter about the owners of the sword, when they are female he is forced to do their bidding. Roseleen is different, as Thorn quickly discovers, and the issue of personal power between them quickly becomes something of a more sensual nature. Roseleen shows great courage and trust by loaning the sword to Thorn, which enables him to take her back in time with him, to allow her to experience the time of William the Conqueror, and even meet the man himself. For a historian, it is a great temptation. Until, on returning to her own time, Roseleen discovers she has altered reality. The present she has returned to is not hers at all. Now they must go back, to fix what they have changed... Johanna Lindsey is an author not afraid to try something new, and I enjoy that each of her books can bring something fresh to a sometimes tired tale - after all, Vikings, time travel and medieval tales all abound, but few can successfully pull off a mixing of the three. Lindsey can and does. The book is very thoroughly researched, and brings out some interesting theories on changing the events of the past, and even gives thought to possible ways that Roseleen and Thor might be able to stay together, without one of them being under a curse! The culmination is an interesting choice to resolve the issue. Roseleen and Thor are the only characters with any depth to them, but they engage with each other well and I generally did not notice the lack of significant interaction with other characters, Roseleen's brother David and friend Gail being very much secondary characters. A well thought out, well planned and well researched read.
Rating: Summary: Best Book Review: it is the first Johanna Lindsey book that i have read and i could not put it down. i am know an instant Johanna Lindsey Fan. if i ever have the chance to get her books i am. i loved everything aboout the book. i will tell everyone to pick it up and read it.
Rating: Summary: A Different Read: A Tale of Present and Past Review: This is the 15th Johanna Lindsey book I have read, and it has become my favorite. That is a difficult statement to make given the Malory series, and so many other utterly delightful novels. However, in this one, she lets her knowledge of history create a background for the characters. It is not just a love story, but a love story in context. The storyline is exceptional and riveting. A 20th Century woman is paired with a Viking through a cursed sword, and they are transported together between centuries, where each have different comfort levels. It makes for fascinating reading how he, her Viking, deals with modern conveniences (bathrooms, kitchen appliances, cars etc.), and how she must cope with attitudes and clothing and everything else devoid of any modernity. This book is filled with humor. It is different from her other books, because it makes one think about the consequences of going back and inadvertently altering history. It is probably best appreciated by those who enjoy thinking about the storyline or imagining that time travel were possible. Or even better, that her Viking could materialize!
