Summary: A Must Read!
Review: This is the third book by Crusie that I've read, and it is definitly my favorite. I absolutely loved it! The characters are are to die for, and an interesting plot that just keeps getting better and better. The dialoug is laugh-out-loud funny, and i just couldn't put it down. Phin and Sophie make really great main characters, I would love to see this one made into a movie! Crusie definitly gets a ten from me for Welcome to Temptation. You must read it!

Summary: Thoroughly Delightful
Review: From the moment I picked up the book, I giggled. The characters have wonderful depth, and the dialog is witty. I chuckled so often through the pages that when I finished it my husband picked it up to see what was so funny. Between street lamps and water towers, the town is so familiar it feels like home. Ms. Crusie does a wonderful job of painting mental pictures with her words. I've read two previous novels from this author and am looking forward to the next!

Summary: My favorite Crusie book
Review: Jennifer Crusie has a wonderful way with characters and dialogue. Sophie, Phin, Helen, Amy and the rest of the cast are hard to leave behind. The relationship that builds between Sophie and Phin is a pleasure to watch. You know exactly what the future holds when the story ends.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: A disappointing read compared to what Crusie CAN do....
Review: All of the characteristics of Crusie's work are here: the irreverent tone, clever dialogue, and some sizzling comebacks. And the strands of the plot show promise for coming together in a comic and satisfying way. But they don't. There are various contrivances that don't work, but could have. The momentum for the story just isn't there. Jennifer Crusie tries to coast along on sharp dialogue, but the main characters need to be developed more. They don't have enough details to make them likeable or keep us interested and there are too many characters without redeeming qualities.

This story lacks a basic sweetness; some scenes are just plain raunchy. However, there are some laugh-out-loud dialogue and comic scenes. On that basis I marginally recommend this book. Tell Me Lies and The Cinderella Deal are stellar, but this one falls short of the standard that Jennifer Crusie has set with her previous novels.

Summary: Whose tempted to do what and who did it
Review: Jennifer Crusie has written a delightful romp, with delectable characters that can't help but make you chuckle. Sophie and her sister Amy have arrived in Temptation to make a movie about Chloe's return to her hometown. Little do we know but it verges on the edge of pornography, and the upstanding pillars of small town society won't have it.

Phin the mayor, and Wes the town sheriff, arrive to check out the scene and find they are attracted to more than the possibility of pornography and its wiles. Sophie and Phin soon hook up and the antics begin along with an unsolved murder that is presented in such a comical fashion, you can't help but laugh. This was a light fun read, and I think I will try another of Crusie's books titled FAST WOMEN.

Summary: I LOVE it
Review: I was used to Jane Austen (whom I adore) and I bought "Welcome to Temptation" for a plane trip. The trip was in June, the book finished in 2 days (way too long for a 2 hours trip) and I read it 20 times (at least) since.

The characters are perfect. Phin is a kind of modern Mr Darcy (OK I may exagerate a little bit, but not so much) and Sophie is a sweet girl, with a hard family environment, but who takes control of her life (a kind of mix between Jane and Lizzie Bennet). Crusie doesn't quote J. Austen in her favorite authors, it seems quite surprising.
I haven't said that the story is a modern Pride and Prejudice (nothing common in the scenario) but good romance characters are just alike and "Welcome to Temptation" clearly has very good romance characters. The story also includes a mysterious death, some nice sexy scenes and very good second characters.

GO, RUN, and BUY it!

Summary: Entertaining from the word GO!
Review: OK, this is the second Cruise books I've read (Crazy for You - also dynamite!)I was (and still am) a confirmed Nora Roberts fan, but I have to say, all other books are taking a back seat to Jennifer's brand of humor:) When I think back on some of the other works I've read in the last few months, they were rather boring compaired to Welcome To Temptation. I tried to explain the book to my husband, and he thinks it sounds like a movie - what a hoot! - I'm thinking almost along the lines of a "Fargo", with colorful characters at every turn.
One concern I had to begin with was that there are A LOT of characters in this story. As I kept reading, I had no problem keeping them straight. I would put the book down and have no trouble picking up where I left off, dare I say almost like a soap opera.
Next up for me is "Tell Me Lies" I can't wait!!!

Summary: A funny, satirical mystery. A must read!
Review: Jennifer Cruise has done it again! She has written a book that is hard to put down. "Welcome To Temptation" succeeds in being funny, sarcastic and suspensful all at the same time. Each character is well developed and fits perefectly into their respective rolls. The book is full of twists, turns and surprises and will make a reader want a sequel. This is an amusing book to read-grab it now.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Funny, quirky, and very relaxing
Review: No book has made me lose it in public quite as much or quite as often as this one. Folks, it's hilarious, with rapid-fire dialogue, fresh and quirky characters, and a distinct although understated sense of irony. And who among us cannot identify with a parent who's trying to run your life till you're 60, neighbors who use all of their Machiavellian talents to influence something as important as the type of a street lamp you're going to buy, or a 20-year-old desperate to leave small-town ANYWHERE and make it in the big, bad world?
Definitely recommended as an enjoyable read.

Summary: How about 10 stars :-)
Review: Cruise is great. Her stories are like listening to a friend at lunch. WELCOME TO TEMPTATION is one of her best. Temptation gets a wake up call when Sophie, Amy, and Davy Dempsey hit town. Phin, the mayor, knows he's in trouble when he meets Sophie, but he still goes down without a fight. From porn movies and local theater to water towers and pillars of society this is a great read. I haven't met a Crusie book I didn't like yet.
