Rating: Summary: An interesting beginning... Review: How many romances have you read that pretty much begin with the heroine being thrown into a pit full of rodents and insects and charged with being a witch? If you're like me, not many. What began with me wanting to jump in and shake the main characters turned into a very enjoyable read, just what I've come to expect from Lynn Kurland romances.
Rating: Summary: Best Book I've Ever Read!!! Review: This book was one of the best I have ever read. It was charming and funny. The character were well drawn and the setting was realistic. I love this book and can't wait for the others to come to my area!!
Rating: Summary: I liked this book Review: I found this book to be enchanting. It is not by any means "a historically acurate account and so on," but I found the characters sweet. While I wouldn't say "it's real life" but since when is romance novels ever real life? The thing that enchanted me was the care that the hero shows the woman. Of course not at first--I would definitley expect more groveling if I was thrown into a pit. But the romance was so sweet and far more caring than these plotless stories being put out today that show love as falling into bed together and if the man climaxed like he never did before--it must be love! YEAH RIGHT! If one is looking to apply this story to real life--than don't read this. If you want a story that is sweet and has more plot than a lot of the romance novels (notice I didn't say ALL romance novels) being put out today, than read it. Five stars from me--not a classic, but charming. I like Ms. Kurland's style!
Rating: Summary: A bit silly but I enjoyed it Review: I read this book in just a few days while on vacation. While I certainly wouldn't put it anywhere near the Outlander series, it's a good escape anyway. The hero is so clueless I giggled most of the way through the book. I don't normally read romance novels but if you want a serious story I'd skip this one.
Rating: Summary: A pale imitation of Outlander... Review: Like several others, I bought this book because I was completely enchanted by Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series. I don't normally read "romance" novels but Gabaldon blew me away. After reading her books then a 4-part scifi series (the Hyperion saga--another great read) this book was a bitter disappointment. It reminded me exactly why I don't read romance novels. The plot didn't build...the charachters just ended up in situations. Nor was I happy with the charachter development--same complaint. The bright spot in this book is probably toward the end, Kurland's concept of time and time travel is interesting, although not developed enough. This is really a poorly written book.
Rating: Summary: Excellent, another wonderful story Review: I adore Time-travel books. Whenever I find one I send of to Amazon for it as I cannot get that many in England. Jamie and Elizabeth are brilliant. As soon as you meet Jamie you will fall in love with him. I loved the part of the story when Jamie is talking to Elizabeth's dad on the phone. It makes me laugh so much even before you get to the part. I have read this book about 6 times and I never get fed up with it. This book is a must for any Time-Travel or Lynn Kurland fan. Well done.
Rating: Summary: A Dance Through Time Review: I just finished reading A Dance Through Time. I could not put the book down. I fell in love with all of the characters. It was thrilling, exciting, and it kept me on the edge of my seat. I could not wait to turn the pages to see what was going to happen next. In my office we share books that we have read. It just gave the book to another girl and she can not wait to read it. I hope that there is a sequel to this book.
Rating: Summary: 20th century woman meets 14th century Scottish laird Review: I liked this book, but I must admit that the second one isbetter. I actually read these two novels in the reverse order, but itdidn't matter. The two novels can stand on their own. This is a goodtime-travel book. The characters are flawed and just that much more real. A wonderful love story that defies time. END
Rating: Summary: Ugh! Review: Ugh! That's what kept repeating in my mind as I read this book. The heroines oneliners will cause your eyes to roll. Without any real character development the only thing that brings the hero and heroine together is the fact that they are of opposite sex. This is a sit-com (a bad one) of a book.
Rating: Summary: Quite cute Review: If there was ever a book that would make you believe in love again I think it would be this one. Kurland's characters are so perfect in their own flawed ways, they are truely believable and very real. There is no perfectly in control of her self Barbie seducing a senstive Ken, but a Highlander laird who vows no women will disrupt his life and a sweet, fragile NYer involved with a man who does not really love her. Between the battles, the time hopping, Jamie's grumbling, and Elizabeth's sweetness, this book rates as a top notcher. Granted, not her best work, but much better than those Romantic histories that end up making us average women feel lees than enough...at least we can compare ourselves..and our mates (wink) to her characters. Pick this oine and the rest of her romances up..you'll not be disappointed.
