Summary: Don't waste your money on this onel.
Review: After reading the Diana Gabaldon books, I looked for something similar. Lynn Kurland's books are always listed. So I bought one and couldn't finish it. She tells the reader everything rather than showing us the scenery, the landscape, etc. I believe this woman is actually published. My 4th grade students write better narrative than she does. I didn't check, but I'd guess this drivle is about on a 3rd grade reading level. So my advise is: "Don't waste your money on this one."

Summary: A wonderful time-travel romance
Review: This was the first book by Lynn Kurland I read. I now own all her books. :-) You do have to open your mind and suspend your belief in reality, but isn't that what you do with any GOOD story? Ms. Kurland has a wonderful way of telling a story. You care about the characters, their lives and the stories they have to tell. I highly recommend A DANCE THROUGH TIME.

Summary: Her books are friends.
Review: There are days when I think I'll not make it to work without a small dose of a Kurland novel. I think she is funny, light-hearted, generous, gracious and kind. I like some books better than others but I re-read all of them. I like the short stories, even, and I usually avoid those. This novel is the basis of all the other novels about time travel and yet it is the last one written. If you've not read the others, start with this one. Kurland is special. She does slimey really well, I was certain things were in my hair. She is mahvelous with dialogue and Jamie's was delicious. She is delightful with descriptions of the keeps, the swordplay, the dress, the mores, the fears and dangers of the time period. Her sex scenes are always most satisfying (for gluttons.) But best of all--she sparkles. I grin a lot through her books, anticipating the next little mess, the next little intrigue, the next pratfall. I enjoy living in her worlds from cover to cover. I hope there are many more books coming from her.

Summary: I can believe in time travel, but not this idiot heroine
Review: Time travel is my very favorite romance subgenre and this book may be my least favorite time travel book. It's not that I have a problem with suspending disbelief, obviously. But I did have a problem with the idiot heroine of this book. First of all, not only is she a virgin (which is fine), but apparently she has never been kissed (much, anyway) even though she is clearly attrative. Okay. Why is this? We do not know. Then, in her own time, she agrees to be engaged to a nerdy male librarian. (As a former librarian, I protest on behalf of all of us -- not ALL of us are nerdy, but well, that's a different story). Of course, nerdy librarian merely serves as codewords for dry, dusty, unattractive and you guessed, it asexual because he has never even kissed her. Nonetheless he plunks a 2 carat solitaire on her hand. Why does she agree to this? What is this, regency England? Regency heroines get more action than this chick. So, then she goes back through time and meets Mel Gibson in Braveheart mode, who has not had any woman in his life other than for occasional casual sex for almost his entire life. He does not even know how to kiss a woman -- which is something he realizes before he even kisses the heroine, but she was apparently living in a nunnery in New York and does not know that he does not know what he is doing. If he KNEW that, why did he not learn how to kiss -- I mean it's clear he has sex all over the place and no one could show him how? It's not like you need 18 years of formal education to learn how to kiss. Then, he has never even heard of a woman's menstrual cycle -- did not even know about it at all. Come on! Didn't one of his fellow carousers with loose women EVER mention this in light of women's availability for sex? Maybe some of these questions were answered later in the book but I decided my time was too valuable to spend finishing it. And what's up with his illegitimate son who was raised in this vile environment, but displays a delicacy of feeling that is absolutely unlikely? I could go on, but I don't want you to spend more time reading this review than I spent reading this book.

Summary: This is a wonderful book !
Review: I especially enjoyed reading this book, as it went back and told the story of Elizabeth and Jamie, two characters with whom I was already familiar from other Lynn Kurland books. If you have never read anything by Lynn Kurland before, I'd recommend reading this one first. It's definitely one of her best and will start you off knowing the two essential characters of her MacLeod family sagas. It's a page turner, beautifully written and wonderfully created.

Summary: A Definite Keeper!
Review: This book is the best keeper I've ever read! The dialougue and characters warm the heart and funnybone everytime I read it. The story itself encompassses a sweet romance and a cute timetraveleing romp that only enriches and completes the story. It also sets up a warm hearted romance formula that readers can look foward to seeing in future sequel books. All are well worth the read! This book however is the best of the lot!

Summary: Lovers of time-travel romance will love this book!
Review: If you love time-travel romances, do not miss this book! Kurland's writing style is wonderfully fresh and her characters well-developed and enjoyable. I loved the bantering between characters--it reminded me of time spent with my own family. Better still is that we can revisit them like old friends in the sequel, The Very Thought of You. I haven't enjoyed a time-travel romance as much since I read Jude Deveraux's A Knight in Shining Armor. I actually like Kurland's heroine, Elizabeth, better than Deveraux's Douglass, who IMHO, cried a tad bit too much. Well done, Lynn!

Summary: A Good Time Travel Romance...But Not Her Best.
Review: This book started out great but towards the end starts to loose steam. Maybe It's just that I prefer to keep the hero of the story in his own time. It's just hard for me to immagine a medieval Highland laird fitting into the 20th century so quickly. Also, the author brings in Patrick, Jamie's younger brother, too late in the book. I think it would have been better to bring him in earlier in the story. In this book's defense, it was nice to see the heroine, Elizabeth, stand up for herself and not be so easily controlled. I also enjoyed the picture the author painted of medieval Scotland. All in all it is a good read, just not her best.

Summary: A wonderful, make-you-happy romance
Review: This book is one of my favorite from Lynn Kurland. One gets easily into the book, and once you start you can't put it down. Worth getting if you can find it - and one you'll read over and over again. It's a very heartwarming story of two people who may be from different times but need each other enough to conquer both the problem of time and themselves. I guarantee anyone who likes any of Kurland's work will love this one as well. It is a perfect sitting - by - the - fire book, and probably become one of your favorites - it's just such a sweet story.

Summary: good to read while waiting for Gabaldon
Review: As an avid fan of the Diana Gabaldon Outlander series of books, I have been bored out of my mind waiting for her next book. Based on the recommendations section of amazon.com I purchased this book as a comparable, and I must say, it is a good comparable. The idea is fairly the same: a woman from contemporary times gets transported back to those "simpler" times long gone by. I am not far into the book yet, I must admit, but it has captivated me. Anybody who is a fan of Diana Gabaldon will like this book; it's set in Scotland, there's a somewhat parallel story line, and who can resist the fantasy of being swept away by one of those Highlanders anyway?!
