Rating: Summary: The place where it all started for me and Julie Review: This was the first romance novel I ever read and I must say...I'm now hooked. Especially on Julie Garwood's works. The Gift is nothing if not an extremely charming and ideal love story. It captivates you and keeps you that way until the very last page that you can just barely bring yourself to turn because you don't want it to end. The humor is superb. It will make you laugh out loud. Sara's naive, but refreshing all the same. Nathan is somewhat cold at first, but what a joy to see him melt. The love-making is so sweet and innocent, not at all raunchy as I imagined romance novels to be before I was introduced to the Gift. Julie really outdid herself in this one. Thanks Julie for the love, adventures, romance, humor, and charm that you share with us every time you put your pen to paper. You don't just read Julie Garwood's books, you experience them.
Rating: Summary: Throw her overboard! Review: Garwood fans may be irritated by the whiny natureof this particular "heroine". Not as good as usual.
Rating: Summary: SUPERB JOB! Review: This is a wonderful introduction to Julie Garwood's style. I found I could really relate to Sara and her "speak first, think about it later" style. Keep up the wonderful work!
Rating: Summary: I couldn't stop smiling Review: From the moment i start reading - I couldn't stop smiling. Sara was a little too naive for my taste, but Garwood didn't let her become stupid. And the hero ? all he tried to do was to stay alive when she was around. I couldn't stop myself from falling for them.
Rating: Summary: This book is on my "touch it and die list". Review: "The Gift" was the first book I read by Julie Garwood. I was hooked from the first page. I've never laughed so hard while reading a romance novel. In fact, I had never read a romance novel like this before, period. I fell in love with how well the story flowed. The characters came alive and I felt strong emotion for them. I have read and reread this book. This has been the only book I've ever been able to read again and again. This is a book that I will treasure for ever. It is a must read for anyone who appreciates a good romance novel
Rating: Summary: Loooove Julie Garwood!!! Review: Julie Garwood is one of the best writers in historical romance that we have the good grace to have. I have only read a few select books of hers, but the gift has got to be number one. I just loved it from first page to the last. Nathan was a hero to the first degree and any red blooded woman would be crazy not to want a man like him. Julie garwood puts the most into her characters and never dissapoints with the end product. I hope that she keeps writing romance in the same time period as this book was set in.
Rating: Summary: WONDERFUL! Review: The Gift by Julie Garwood is fabulous! There is not one page of this book that I did not enjoy. Sara's optimism was a joy. One of the many aspects of this book that I absolutely adored was Nathan's reactions to Sara's mishaps. They were very telling. He wanted to be furious with her and not care about her feelings and yet, he couldn't help but try to be gentle with her. I also loved Sara's little instructions to Nathan. She had so many preconceived notions concerning how their marriage should work that it drove Nathan crazy while also endearing her to him. Nathan was a great hero. I enjoyed his transformation from not wanting to care for Sara to realizing how much he loves her and needs her. Nathan and Sara are thoroughly developed by Garwood and this reader found herself captivated by their journey. This book is one to be treasured.
