Rating: Summary: A definite favorite! Review: I love anything that Julie Garwood writes, so naturally, I am going to say how wonderful this book was! I love Nathan and Sara! The way that she was sending for her husband and than he comes for her without knowing is too funny! This book has all the elements. The tall, dark, and handsome stranger, the willful bride, the humor! It had everything I look for in a romance and I would recommend to anyone who is considering this book to grab it up! You will love it!!!
Rating: Summary: What a wonderfully sweet book! Review: I LOVED this book. I thought it was so sweet and the relationship between Sara and Nathan so loving. I loved the way he protected her and she wanted him too. I laughed my rear end off during several of the scenes. I will be reading this book again and still go back and read certain sections I thought were adorable. As always, Julie Garwood did not fail us. She knows just how to present a story realistically and with such emotion and tenderness. I would also recommend you read Julie's "Honor's Splendor" and "The Wedding." I give this book an A+ and add it to the the former books as my three all-time favorite Romance novels. You go girl!!!
Rating: Summary: ha! get ready to laugh Review: This is one of her most entertaining books.Sarah and her mischievous ways will make you laugh until you cry. The things she does to Nathan's ship...haha. They were wed when they were very young, Nathan 14, Sarah 4. As the years pass by, Sarah still longs for her husband to come fetch her. Nathan, on the other hand, intially comes for her because he wants the money that the marriage promises, should Sarah provide an heir. He brings her and her aunt on his ship set sail for her aunt's island. And of course, there's the happily ever after. Go read it. I'll say no more because I don't want to give everything away. Get it now!
Rating: Summary: Super Romantic and Entertaining Review: This was the first romance novel I ever read and it set the standard for me--first, it's very romantic and makes me smile every time I read it. next, the characters are extremely sweet, especially nathan who has a tough exterior but completely breaks down with sarah. and finally it's definitely an idealized love affair but with humanistic touches of frustration, and comedy and affection. I would highly recommend it!
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Review: This book was an outstanding read! It took me a while to really get into it, but once i did, i could not put it down. I had to find out how Julie was going to bring these two completely different characters - Sarah and Nathan - together. I recommend you find out too.
Rating: Summary: One of the Best! Review: Another thoroughly enjoyable book from JG. Nathan became a standout to me when he appeared in GUARDIAN ANGEL. In THE GIFT, he's great, so realistic because he has a few endearing FLAWS. He's a clumsy romantic with so much appeal, and is very very handsome. He's so masculine you just know he's not afraid of anything. Sara was a true delight, despite the fact that nearly all of JG's heroines are identical in character, with the exception of Jade from GUARDIAN ANGEL. Most of JG's heroines start out being a little bit scatter-brained, with every hero believing her DAFT. Eventually the intellect of the heroine shines through. And I will say that JG's heroines are never, ever, stupid. In fact, after finishing this book, I realize what made the adorable Sara different from the others. She wasn't quite as DAFT as she appeared to be; everything she said and did, she did for a specific reason.
Now, the FRECKLES thing has got to stop. As for humor, this book is one of JG's best. That's part of the reason Nathan and Sara were so interesting. You could practically feel Nathan's frustration when dealing with Sara, but she was so comical he didn't stand a chance. One of the funniest scenes out of all JG's books, takes place here in THE GIFT. It's when Sara meets Sterns, the butler. It doesn't get much funnier than that.
Rating: Summary: Good! Review: My favorite Garwood novel ever. Sara was very adorable. The dialogue between the two characters was funny and well written. Towards the end, you'll surely feel that Nathan truly loved Sara.
Rating: Summary: My first Julie Garwood Review: This was an amazing book. This was my first experience reading a Julie Garwood book and by far the most entertaining romance novel I have read ever. I believe everyone is entitled to their own views but I saw strength in Sara. She may have been more emotional than most heroines but she certainly did not lack strength, it just wasn't as apparent. She truly loved Nathan from the time he rescued her when she was 4 years old. Sara was determined to win his love and trust. I can not wait to read more of Ms. Garwood's work.
Rating: Summary: ok - but i'm not crazy about sara Review: I am an admitted Julie Garwood junkie. I've read all her books and have throughly enjoyed them - all except this one. I just couldn't bring myself to love Sara. Her character is very week and annoying. Yes I agree with some of the other reviews that she may be more reflective of women of that era - but that does not mean that I want to read about them. I believe that in every woman there is strength and I didn't get much of that coming through in Sara. Being innocent or naive does not necesssarily translate into being weak - but that's how Sara comes across.
Rating: Summary: one of her funnist! Review: I'm a big fan of Mrs.Garwood, and this is by far her Funnist book that I have ever read. The acciendents that Sarah gets into had me Laughing out loud. My mother came into my room several times to see what was so funny. If you like Julie Garwood's work, or any type of rommantic comady i highly recomened this book.
