Rating: Summary: A WINNER FOR KINLEY MacGREGOR Review: After A PIRATE OF HER OWN, I wasn't sure I'd ever read another Kinley MacGregor book, but I'm glad I did. This story of Braden and Maggie is charming. Maggie's a plain Jane who has loved the devastating handsome Braden since childhood. He, of course, has never noticed her since the female population of the British Isles have been throwing themselves at him since puberty. But Braden is not an arrogant, war-mongering skirtchaser. He's a likeable, laid-back man who, for the most part, enjoys what life is throwing his way. Maggie, on the other hand, is at wit's end with life's unfairness to such an extent that she's about to cause another clan war with her plan to end the current one. Like other reviews have already said, the plot was a trifle thin and had me unfavorably comparing clan leader Lochland McAllister (Braden's older brother)with rival laird Robby MacDouglas, but the love story between the two main characters was right on the money. If MacGregor writes a book featuring Braden's illegitimate brother Sin, who was prominently featured in this book, you can bet I'll buy it.
Rating: Summary: Kinley MacGregor does it again! Review: After reading Master of Desire and Master of Seduction i couldn't wait to see what she would come up with next, and i was not disapointed. As soon as i saw the book on the shelf i didn't even have to see the back i bought it. This book was wonderful, the characters are very real and well written. I loved the chemistry between Braden and Maggie. I have read alot, and i mean a lot of books and mostly i can always tell who is the bad guy and how it will end. This one i couldn't. I read this book in one sitting and wished i had another. Kinley MacGregor, i can't wait for the next one. I have my heart set on Sin :)
Rating: Summary: Could have been so much better... Review: Although I enjoyed this book, I repeatedly thought while reading it that, if it had been about 100 pages longer, it could have been so much better. The premise of the book was original and fun. There was lots of humor throughout, which I liked. But the writing was almost too light, without the depth necessary to make a novel a real keeper. Normally plots move along too slowly and drag. This book moved along too quickly and essentially skimmed the surface. Even the love scenes were too short and matter-of-fact, not drawn out enough to make them really sizzle. But I liked this book enough to read the next one, and I just hope it has a little more depth.

Rating: Summary: very disappointing Review: CLAIMING THE HIGHLANDER was a real disappoinment. I love all of Ms. McKinley's books but this was well below her normal standards. She uses her usual characters of a sinfully handsome hero and sweet but not conventionally pretty heroine but the storyline just fell flat. I absolutely did not like Braden. He was arrogant and way too sure of himself, especially of his prowess with the ladies. I felt sorry for Maggie for falling in love with such an egotistical jerk and felt that she deserved much better. I especially hated McKinley's theme of infidelity. I know that historically, this is the norm of the book's time period but it just made the book seem tawdry and not as magical and sweet as her usual books. The only thing I liked in the book was Braden's brother Sin, and I eagerly await his own book, hoping it would be better than this one.
Rating: Summary: Relocate Lysistrata from Ancient Greece to medieval Scotland Review: During the reign of Henry II, Maggie inglen Blar leads a sheet revolution to end the fighting in the Kilgarigon, Scotland area. Maggie and the other women are tired of their men feuding with Robby MacDouglas and his clan. No man will be fed or bed until peace is procured. Braden MacAllister returns home from England to witness the appetite downfall of his brothers and the other males of their clan. He decides to end the foolishness using his best skills at seducing a woman. His target is Maggie, but she rejects his kisses to Braden's amazement. Both have secrets. He agrees with her goal and she has always loved him. As they play a game of cat and mouse, he falls in love with her, but will she believe him with his womanizing reputation and her idealistic objective standing between them? Relocate Lysistrata from Ancient Greece to medieval Scotland to understand the underlying theme in CLAIMING THE HIGHLANDER. The invigorating story line is amusing yet enables the reader to feel they are in the Highlands during the reign of Henry II. The lead couple is a delightful pair playing Spencer Johnson and Kenneth Blanchard's "Who Moved My Cheese?" enabling readers to fully enjoy Kinley MacGregor's opening tale in her MacAllister brothers' trilogy. Harriet Klausner
Rating: Summary: A beautiful romance Review: I bought this book after I found out Kinley MacGregor is also Sherrilyn Kenyon. Just like with her paranormals, she brings something fresh to a staid, boring formula. I love the way this author's mind works. They way she brings the past to life and can blend it with humor and real emotions. Braden is a welcomed relief from the alpha jerk hero who has to prove himself. He is a man in tune with his strengths and his weaknesses and I love the way he was able to allow the heroine to grow and discover herself. He was a real hero. Maggie really touched me. At times I saw myself in her and I could relate to her wanting to save her family. She was a great heroine for Braden without being bitchy or whiney. The secondary characters are some of the best I've seen. I like the way they weren't background to the story, but were real people who helped bring everything together. Now I'm off to track down more of Macgregor/Kenyon's books. I can't wait to read them.
Rating: Summary: Quick....buy this book, then hop a flight to Scotland!!! Review: I have to run out and get my ticket to Scotland right now. Need to claim me a highlander!! Kinley MacGregor has written a wonderful tale. Full of humor and poignant romance. Claiming the Highlander tells the story Maggie, who decides that enough is enough. The feud with a neighboring clan has to stop...now. So she enlists the women in her battle against the highland warriors. But what weapon do mere women yield...why the mightiest one of all....simply saying "NO" NO cooking, NO cleaning....and NO SEX till the feuding stops. Well the highlanders are outraged, who do these women think they are!!! But the women stand firm...so the men resort to their best hope to sway the women back home. They send in Braden McAllister, the one man who has never heard "No" from a women. Sparks fly when Braden and Maggie meet, and it's electric. The are both so endearing that you cheer on each in their quest to be the victor. In addition to Maggie and Braden, Claiming the Highlander contains wonderful secondary characters...namely Bradens brothers Ewan, Lochlan and Sin (ooo baby!). I highly recommend this book, it will make you laugh out loud and wish for your own highland warrior.
Rating: Summary: I REALLY, REALLY LIKED IT!!!! Review: I just started reading this author and have enjoyed everything I've read so far. This book had me laughing out loud. The dialogue between the two main characters is hilarious throughout the book. It's never too sappy and the characters get their point accross without too much repeating. It's a keeper!
Rating: Summary: Great author! Wonderful book Review: I love this author's work. if you haven't picked up any of her books do so soon. ... I can't wait for her next book to arrive. This one is a wonderful story about a bad boy highlander who has finally met his one and only in a brave highland lass who has loved him her entire life. Braden, is the youngest of 5 brothers. All are good looking but its Braden who the women flock to. His reputation is that of skilled lover and quite a charmer. He arrives back in Scotland with his half brother Sin, who needs his own story very badly, hint, hint. When he arrives he finds that all the women have gone into hiding and are refusing to do anything and I mean anything for the men until they end a fued with the MacDouglas clan. The MacDouglas women are also refusing to do anything for their men. This rebellion is being lead by Maggie. Braden has known Maggie all her life but has never looked twice at her as a woman. Maggie has always loved Braden but knows that he would never look at her and see a woman and plus she knows that he would only want a one night stand not a lifetime. Braden is sent in to charm Maggie into giving up. Seh won't but when her brother's lives and Braden's brother's lives are threatened they mus work together to end the feud. Sin comes along to help and we get a bit of a look at his demons and pain that he is hiding. This is a funny, heart warming book that is easy to read and very enjoyable. I would recommend it to anyone.
