Rating: Summary: Are all her books this great????? Review: This is the first book of Ms. MacGregor I have ever read! I bought it because the cover looked good! :) If this book indicates what type of author she is on a regulary basis, then she is simply not going to be able to write fast enough for me. MASTER OF DESIRE is probably one of the best books I have read. It has such a great story. It was funny, sexy, had a meaning and wasn't repeditive. Ya know what I mean... There was a story behind the story (the past) and I couldn't wait to find out what it was. Then, there is the story in the future, and I just knew something was up with that wicked brother-in-law! It is nice to have the shoe on the other foot and have the woman chase the man for a change. And Lady Emily is so clever! Her attempts at trying to make Draven, the devil, laugh, made me laugh... how could he not!!! He and his brother are so funny and I really liked the part were they got caught at the river by the boar. He jumped in a tree. Lots of romantic twists and tons of humor! I loved the epilogue of this book also. No, I will not tell you, but if this was a movie... it would be a "feel good" movie. Ya know, if you want a good book, that makes you like the people you are reading about, If you want to laugh or if you want to stay up all night... get this book. Then, you too will be a peeved off that A PIRATE OF HER OWN is out of print! Cause that only leaves you with one book left of hers to read. MASTER OF SEDUCTION
Rating: Summary: Wonderful book. Very Touching Review: I loved this book. I read it in one setting. I couldn't put it down. I had read this authors books under another name but was thrilled when I found this book. This is the story of the most feared knight in the land, Draven and a very willful woman named Emily. We first meet Draven when he and Emily's father are before the king arguing about the on going feud between them. Both blame each other for the attacks on their land. The king decides that in order to make these two come to a peace that Emily shall spend one year in Draven's care and that Draven must never touch her or else he will die. They both agree and Draven gives his vow of honor not to touch her in anger or in lust. Little did he know how hard that vow would be to keep. Emily is a beautiful woman who longs for a husband and family of her own. Her father is overprotective of her and her sisters. She is thrilled to get the chance to be free for a while and decides to set her sights on Draven. When they first meet he takes her breath away. She decides right then and there that he will be hers and she always wins. Draven is not unaffected by her and its a constant struggle for him to keep his distance. He longs to love her but is afraid the demon inside him will hurt her and drive her away forever. They must find the laughter and the love they both deserve and bring peace between two families. Kinely MacGregor makes you really feel the sorrow and the pain the characters feel. She has wonderful side characters that make the book a whole. There is humor, passion, love and tenderness all wrapped up inside.
Rating: Summary: If you like pushy............... Review: You'll love the heroine of this book. I didn't. I found the story severely disappointing, particularly since I'd so thoroughly enjoyed everything I'd read by Ms. McGregor both under this name and under Sherrilyn Kenyon. In fact her book, 'Fantasy Lover' is my favorite romance novel ever. This one, however, landed in my trashcan around the time I reached page 90. The hero was sympathetic but dreary and repetitious; the heroine was spritely and sparkly but not very bright. And abominably intrusive. The supporting cast with the exception of the hero's brother is lackluster. The writing felt forced. I don't think even the author liked this one much.
Rating: Summary: THE BEST LOVE STORY EVER WRITTEN Review: This wonderful romance is by far the best that I have ever read. I agree with some of the other reviews when they say that it was so easy to like BOTH characters. The other stories that I have read usually has something to make you made at one or both of the leads. Draven and Emily are so wonderfully detailed that you feel all the happiness and pain right along with them. Kinley MacGregor is a great author and I can't wait to read another of her books. I think a book for Simon should be coming like one of the other reviewers. He was a lovable character and we could also keep up with Draven and Emily.
Rating: Summary: Kinley MacGregor is a dominating force! Review: King Henry II decides to put an end to the quarrelling between the two houses consisting of his knights of the realm. By the King's order, Draven must keep his enemy's youngest daughter, Emily, for a year at his home of Ravenswood. The King forbids Draven to harm her in anyway or take her maidenhood. If he should he will be severely dealt with. Emily sets her eye on Draven for marriage. Her father keeps her closing cloistered at the family home and her chance for marriage is slipping away as she grows older. However, Draven has chosen never to take a wife, for fear his great rage will continue the cycle of violence known in his family. Draven, who never laughs, finds Emily full of laughter and life. Emily states that when she makes Draven laugh he will be hers. Read the book to find out if she succeeds! Kinley MacGregor continues to develop as a dominating force in the historical romance genre. Her writing is engaging and her characters are ones you can fall in love with.
Rating: Summary: This is why I read ! Review: OMG what a beautiful love story. This is exactly the reason I love to read!
Rating: Summary: Kinley gets better with every book! Review: Lady Emily has spent her life dreaming of leaving the home of her overprotective father and having a husband and children of her own. But since the death of her mother and sisters in child birth, her father has refused to see his youngest daughter married. But Emily is nothing if not stubborn and determined. When her father angers the king, Emily is made the king's ward and given to her father's enemy to be held for a year to help cement the bonds of peace. Haunted by his tormented past, Draven of Ravenswood is a man who has never given a thought to having a wife. His home is the battlefield and given the curse of his father's blood, he wants nothing else. But from the moment he takes Emily into his home, he knows things will never be the same. Oh, and here is where I should mention that he has sworn a blood oath not to touch Emily. Failure to keep his word means execution. But keeping that oath is impossible. Mix in some incredible humor, poignant scenes that will make you laugh and cry, a wonderful brother who is determined to see Draven married and a cast of funny characters and you have IMHO the best medieval I have read since The Wolf and The Dove. And in my opinion this is even better. I loved Draven and Emily and Simon who I hope gets his own book. If you like really tortured heroes, strong, competent and likable heroines, sizzling sex, and books that touch your heart, run to the nearest store and buy this book! The only disappointment I had was that it ended and I don't know when her next will be out. Hurry Kinley, I need another of your books bad!
Rating: Summary: Kinley does it again! Review: Master of Desire was the second book I have read by Kinley MacGregor and while I liked it - I did not think it was quite as good as Born In Sin which I rated 5 big stars!! Draven Lord Ravensood was another tortured rouge and determined to never allow love in his life. He felt he did not deserve love and when Emily is forced by the king to become his ward for a year everything he ever believed of himself is challenged by this lovely female. It is a romantic tale and I truly enjoyed it. Kinley does have a real ability to bring characters alive and make you really care about how their lives unfold!! I would recommend any book by this author.
Rating: Summary: Possibly the best romance novel ever written. Review: I have read hundreds and hundreds of romance novels. Kinley Macgregor is one of my newest favorites. Here is what I LOVE about Kinley's writing: The [love] scenes are sensual, passionate, explicit-but NOT flowery, drawn out, or without emotion. Macgregor makes words work for her. Instead of going on and on about mundane things, she uses her words to paint pictures, create emotions, and describe characters that move me. I don't skip over whole sections of her books because she doesn't bore me to tears with details that I don't care about. There is no subplot. I mean, yes, there are other things going on than just the romance. But the romance is the biggest and most important part of the book. Instead of trying to be a murder/mystery novelist, Macgregor sticks with romance. Thank goodness an author who can build a whole story on romance and not feel the need to elaborate on boring subplots!!! This book was beautiful and I found I had butterflies in my stomach throughout most of it. Draven is one of the the most sexy, dark, passionate characters I have ever read about. I love that he wasn't used to being touched...that made the sensuality of the whole story that much more powerful. Emily is a truly lovable character...I cared about her and thought her personality was so complex and true to reality. I wanted her and Draven to fall in love and to help heal each other's pains. I rooted for them throughout the entire book. I absolutely loved these characters and the whole story surrounding them! I would give this book 100 stars if I could! It's a must read!
Rating: Summary: Touching romance; endearing characters Review: I really loved the style of this book. It truly centered on our main characters Emily and Draven and not much on what was going on around them. I found that fascinating. You lived every moment through their eyes (and emotions). The romance was one of the most touching I have read in a long while. I had to keep peeking ahead to see how it all would work out! The love scenes were breathtaking. I did feel Emily was a bit too bold for the times she lived in. Her "bravado" should have been portrayed a bit more subtly. Draven was a poignant example of a tormented hero. The handsome man on the cover drew me in but the words warmed my heart. I couldn't put this one down --
