Summary: A must read
Review: Son of the Morning is by far the most amazing romance novel I have ever read. Linda Howard makes her characters come alive and you actually feel their heartbreak and rejoice at their triumphs. This novel has a wonderful plot very different from most romance novels. Grace St. John is in no way a weak individual. And Niall is an amazingly dinamic character. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is tired of the typical romance novel. You will not be disappointed.

Summary: Read this one!
Review: I stumbled across this book and immediately became an LH fan. It was unlike any other books I'd read. First & foremost was the intense attraction between Grace and Black Niall. One of the scenes between them is intense. But all along the way, they are creating major sparks.

What makes this book special though is that it is very textured. There are a lot of other sub-plots running through to give the book breadth. Grace's evolvement as a strong heroine and survivor, Niall's relationship with the G-d who placed him in an untenable situation, clan wars, the evil Foundation systematically building up a power base, and more.

Linda Howard has a drive to her books that are unequaled IMO, but other more recent ones seem dictated by publishing houses to quick get another one out. So although her trademark pulling the reader in are there, the stories are too short (under 300 pps) and the story lines are one dimensional. Ex- in White Lies, which I enjoyed, guy in hospital with girl attending, recovers memory in Colorado, deals with terrorist incident. The end.

Son of the Morning on the other hand is a keeper, rereads are enjoyable, and their possibilities seem endless.

Summary: The Best
Review: I have read ALL of Linda Howard's books and this was THE best. If you're looking for adventure, mystery and (hot) romance-- than this is the one for you. I loved this book so much that I have read it twice! I would rate it 5+++++!

Summary: Incredible!!!
Review: This is one of the best books I've ever read! In fact, I've re-read it many, many times. You can count on Linda Howard to always be wonderful, but this book is her best. A fascinating storyline, 2 fascinating characters, and very hot love scenes. It doesn't get any better than this if you like stories about time travel, lusty Scottish heroes, and gutsy, smart heroines. Ms. Howard, please, please give us a sequel--maybe about Grace and Niall's kids?

Summary: Good Romance Novel
Review: I usually don't read romance novels, but I picked this one up because I wanted to read something light over the weekend. I was very impressed. This book had a good story line, interesting characters, and even some suspense. One thing that I particularly liked about this book was that the heroine was not some young virgin waiting to be taught the "ways of love" by an older man. Overall, this was a pretty good read.

Summary: Positively Fantastic
Review: I loved this book! I simply could not put it down. This book has love, sex, murder, secret societies, mysteries and more. Black Niall is a man for all centuries. Dark, sensual, passionate, loyal, and true to his vow, no matter how miserable this vow has made his life. A man of purpose and compassion. Grace was the miracle from the God he no longer believed in. Strong, focused, and determined to avenge the senseless murder of her beloved husband and brother, she vowed to uncover the Power of the Treasure and eliminate the evil that destroyed her simple, happy life. Little did she know she would discover a love that transended the centuries. Not your typical love story. Strong plots, and sub-plots with and ending that will suprise you, and leave you crying tears of joy.

Summary: Son of the Morning
Review: Of all the books that I have read by Linda Howard (and believe me, I've read plenty), this book revolves around and around in my head. I felt that I was actually living the part of the heroine, Grace St. John. Although I continue to be an ardent reader of Ms. Howard's books, this one stands out! It had me wondering, "where does she get this stuff! " I was totally captivated! I could not put this book down and am waiting for her to write another one.

Summary: Loved it!
Review: A friend loaned me Son of the Morning. We share books often, but neither of us had ever traded romance novels. I was surprised when she gave it to me. I thought I'd "outgrown" romance novels, but I was wrong! It was the first L.H. book I ever read, and I absolutely loved it! It inspired me to read other L.H. books (Shades of Twilight, Lady of the West, Touch of Fire), but Son... is still my favorite. It it a satisfying combination of romance, steamy love scenes, history, and suspense (not necessarily in that order). I couldn't put it down.

My second favorite L.H. novel (so far) is A Lady of the West. Very different from Son... but very good.

I haven't read a romance novel this great in a long time. I'm inspired to drag out my old Beatrice Small novels ;-).

Summary: Not quite what I was expecting, but good nonetheless!
Review: Being an ardent fan of time-travel romances, I started this book thinking it would be like all the rest -- heroine stumbles upon entrance to the past-meets good looking hero-falls in love-decides to give up modern conveniences for hero. Though _Son of the Morning_ did contain these elements to some extent, it was much more of a heroine on the run from thugs sort of book. Regardless of this, I was enthralled from the first chapter. Grace St. John is an extremely well developed character. She is a normal, average woman who, when faced with extreme situations shows bravery, courage and strength of will that under normal circumstances would have been foreign to her. You immediately feel as if you're on the run with Grace, you grieve with her, feel frightened when she does and silently cheer when she perseveres. Linda Howard did an excellent job fleshing out this character and making her come to life for the reader. The plot is well thought out and engaging, keeping you interested right from the first. There are quite a few twists and turns that will keep you absorbed as you try to figure out the intricacies of the plot. I did have a few problems with the book, however, thus causing me to only give it four stars. It would deserve five had a few things been resolved. Though termed a romance novel, I didn't feel there was quite enough romance included to justify that classification. I was left wanting at the end, thirsting for more interaction between the hero and heroine. Most of my feelings of disappointment stem from the fact that the hero and heroine only meet roughly 100 pages before the book ends. I'm accustomed to having more time with characters, seeing how they grow and love together. I did like the supernatural connection between Grace and Niall that made them aware of each other before they'd ever met -- it brought a feeling of depth to their love that would have been missing had that aspect not been included. Most of all, I don't feel the character of Niall was explored enough. The reader spends an enormous amount of time with Grace, getting to know her, feeling with her -- but is only given what feels like a glimpse of Niall. He is a remarkable character, sensual, brave, and strong and I feel cheated that I wasn't given the chance to know him more. I can only hope that Ms. Howard plans to write again of Grace and Niall. Both of these characters deserve another book where their love can be explored. If you're looking for an adventurous book with murder and mayhem around every corner, _Son of the Morning_ will probably suit you fine. However, if you're searching for a romance novel that will take you on a journey of feelings, you should probably look elsewhere. Don't misunderstand me, I really enjoyed the book, it just wasn't quite what I was expecting.
