Summary: Very well written.
Review: This book was very good. Unlike other time travel/romance novels, this one took its time getting to the time travel/hero meets heroine part. My only criticism is that, once that occurred, the book was wrapped up far too quickly. The book should have been at least another 50 pages. I wanted to read more about how Grace adjusted to and lived in the 14th century, and how her emotional relationship with Niall developed once they had met. Still, overall an excellent read.

Summary: Not a good story,
Review: I did not like this book at all altho I am (as a rule) a Linda Howard fan. The story was stupid and I had trouble making myself finish it. Time TraveL Romance quite simply is not Linda Howard's edge (in my opinion), she should stick at what she does best and leave this genre to Roberts or another writer on the this topic.

Summary: Oh mercy....
Review: this is one of those great love stories that I hate to see end. Well, I call it a love story, but actually the story itself is more about the good vs. evil plot. Once again, Linda Howard has written an excellent story. It has most everything I love in a romance novel - suspence, non-stop action/adventure, a sweet but very intelligent heroine (who learns all about taking care of herself), a tall, dark, gorgeous, sexy as **** hero, a great storyline, very hot love scenes; there is also an unexpected paranormal element (sp?) that I've never read in LH books, but that I really enjoyed. (Man, to have dreams like THAT! lol) I really liked the way LH let me come to really know the characters... I knew just exactly how Grace St. John felt & why she felt that way; I knew about her life & her feelings for those around her. It was the same with Niall of Scotland - I could feel his anger, his pain, his aloneness, his feelings for Grace... oh man (big sigh).
The romance in this book bloomed slowly, well over the course of the book - from 7 centuries apart.... no rush to fall in bed & fall in love based on what happened in bed. I really enjoyed that. (Rushed feelings about love after falling in lust tend to make me roll my eyes.) I really appreciated the fact that Grace didn't just forget about what her husband had meant to her... her love for him was not diminshed by her feelings for Niall.
LH also wrote about a number of secondary characters that I could really get to know & appreciate also... they all had an integral part of the story.
If you like action/adventure in your romances - this one should certainly trip-your-trigger; it kept moving, threw in lots of unexpected surprises, & really kept me enthralled. A definite recommend.

Summary: Excellent....
Review: Linda Howard tries her hand at time travel romance and does it well. A combustible romance across time between Grace and Niall of Scotland. Well worth a look.

If you like time travel romance read Karen Marie Moning's highlander series. Also excellent.

Summary: Son of the Morning
Review: As a long time Linda Howard fan, this is the first book I have ever wanted for it to actually end. This book, in my opinion, was hard to follow, hard to focus on, and really confusing. I would NOT reccomend this book. I will remain a Linda Howard fan, but this book will not remain in my large collection.

Summary: Truky excellent.....
Review: This is an excellent paranormal romance by Linda Howard. The H/H fall in love across time. A truly sexy hero and a spunky heroine. If you like time travel books I recommend the highlander series by Karen Marie Moning. Definitely get those.

Enjoy! :)

Other paranormals by Linda Howard are: Now You See Her and Dream Man. Psychic Occurences happen in those. They are definitely worth getting.

Summary: One of the best books I've read
Review: I will always classify SON OF THE MORNING as one of my all time favorite reads. I have read it several times over and never get tired of it. I would love to see Linda Howard write more novels similar to this, although I have enjoyed everyone of her books I have read.

Summary: STILL ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS I'VE READ - IN ANY GENRE!
Review: All right. Why, you ask me, have I had to buy more than one copy of this book? Because I keep loaning my copies to friends who love it so much that they don't always return it. And why, you ask me, do I continue to pick it up and read it through cover-to-cover so many times? Well, the easiest way would be simply to tell you to read it yourself but first, I'm going to give you a little idea why this book is so worth the effort.

The heroine, Grace St. John, is a real woman! No, not flesh and blood, but so much like you and me that the fact she is a fictional character doesn't matter. She isn't especially beautiful or model-thin or anywhere close to perfect. What she is, however, is intellegent and gutsy and basically willing to do whatever is necessary to exact vengeance on the man who murdered her family. Grace didn't fall immediately into the hero's lap the moment things got hard. She used her wits to stay ahead of the bad guys and works to reveal the secret that those bad guys are willing to kill for.

Black Niall is my "dream man", pardon the pun. (You will understand when you read this book) He dark and sexy; a lusty fellow that's just a bit rough around the edges but as Linda spins his story around you, you begin to see beneath his tough ex-monk exterior (yes, ex-monk) to his very soul. You feel for him when he is forced to allow his brother-monks die in the service of a God whom Niall feels has deserted them. His anger at the injustice doesn't prevent him from making a vow of service to protect a secret 'treasure' even as his other monkish vows are revoked. . . including chastity. Linda did a fantastic job filling her story with excitement and mystery (as Niall's background unfolds) and developing the chemistry between Grace and Niall long before Grace goes back through time and meets him face-to-face. Grace and Niall need one another desperately and it's rewarding to see that Naill's faith was restored in a loving God in the end.

There is some controversy over the way Linda combines religious fact and myth into one of the greatest love stories I've ever read. The love of a man and a woman that reach through the bands of time, and the challenges to a man's faith when he believes that his God has abandoned him. There is a fascinating vulnerability in Niall that takes careful reading to uncover. Just remember that the book is fiction; a story made up from a jumble of historical facts mixed with plenty of myths and woven through with fantasy. I applaud Linda Howard again and again for her imagination and nerve in weaving a book that overflows with a wealth of intellegence and emotions. Vastly entertaining even during the 10th reading of it and I'll continue to loan it and replace it as is necessary.

Summary: One of the best books I've ever read!
Review: As a long-time fan of Linda Howard and an avid reader, I consider "Son of the Morning" to be one of the best books I've ever read. In fact, I've reread the book numerous times for the simple pleasure of enjoying a truly great story.

"Son of the Morning" crosses a number of romance genre boundary lines in a single story to give the reader a little of everything. The time-travel segments are utterly unique (as well as potentially hazardous <g>). The suspense is edge-of-your-seat category typical of Ms. Howard work. The paranormal elements (dare I say, character?) are surprising and unlike any I've read. The historic settings and events are well researched, highly informative and richly illustrated. It's here we meet the main male protagonist, Black Niall, a larger-than-life character and former Templar who's not your typical hero.

In the contemporary setting, Ms. Howard's main female character, Grace St. John, a rather unassuming academic, must run from and continuously evade the bad guys while learning how to live "on the lam" after her husband and brother are murdered. Some of her best lessons come from a street-wise bad boy and a former prostitute who teach her how to "disappear", how to get a false ID and great tips on how to protect herself from attackers (I took notes here).

Howard's characters are so richly characterized they live in your mind and become real. I found myself rooting for the good guys, hoping the bad guys meet a very ugly end, and was surprised by a few. And I'm very hard to surprise. The romance between the main protagonists grabs your heart and you pray they'll find a way to be together forever. And finally, you just wish the book didn't have to end...or there would be a true sequel.

Summary: Definately a keeper!!!
Review: I just got finished reading it & it is so wonderful. It was really hard putting it down. This book has everything you could want...suspenseful, romantic, exciting, passionate! I loved all the characters & could very well picture all that Grace went through. I love this type of book so much happens to the heroine, you feel as though you have lived a lifetime..
I found the Knights of the Templar so fascinating to read about & I really hope Mrs. Howard will write some medival or even historical romance type suspense novels.
