Rating: Summary: Linda Howard out does herself with this book. Review: Linda Howard does an excellent job with the book. You immediately feel for the characters. Especially the two main characters even though they are seperated by time you feel as if they are connected. It is a wonderful book and I highly recommend it.
Rating: Summary: not the usual romance fair Review: This is a great read - I couldn't put it down. If you liked this you will enjoy Diana Gabaldons Outlander series and The Plague Tales. Son of the Morning also brought to mind Grisham's Pelican Briefs. Grace's development as a character is well written and the whole story is spiced with colorful characters such as Harmony and Kristian. What a twist at the end with Conrad!
Rating: Summary: One of the Greats Review: I don't usually find myself thinking about the nature of good and evil after I read a romance novel, but this one is the exception. You root for the hero and heroine, and at the same time ponder the violent nature of the struggle they are in. These are not cardboard characters (except, perhaps, the villian, whom I found to be the weakest character in the book), but people with virtues and vices both. It is such a well-crafted book, with several very interesting themes going on, that it is definitely worth a second or third read and is a book I wouldn't mind discussing over a cup of coffee now and then. "Escapist" fiction? Maybe, but there's plenty of food for thought, too.
Rating: Summary: One of my favorites Review: I read very few time-travel romances; the only reason I picked this one up is that Linda Howard wrote it. I'm glad I did. Her description of what it's like to be homeless is so believable I find myself in awe of her research ability(and wondering if maybe she herself had been homeless at some point!). Keep 'em coming, Linda!
Rating: Summary: A great find for a rainy weekend! Review: This was a great book that I discovered in time for a rainy weekend while cooped up with 2 kids with chickenpox. What a story. I enjoyed the evolution of Grace a lot. A true, strong female character in romantic fiction. I was surprised that it took so long in the book for her to actually go back and meet Niall, but when she did, baby hold onto your hat! I was also glad that unlike some romance writers (such as Jude Deveraux), Howard writes it so that Grace actually gets to stay with Niall at the end of the story. As far as historical romance goes, nothing will top Gabaldon's Claire and Jamie (Outlander series), but this was good. Very good!
Rating: Summary: This is a must read book! Review: The author was very creative in the time travel department. All of the emotions and trials of Grace are vividly protrayed in a realistic way that was very believeable. This is a stay up all night read.
Rating: Summary: A Passionate, Compelling Must Read Romance Review: Time travel, history lesson, page singing romance all in one book. I have never enjoyed a book as much as I did this one. Linda Howard has truly outdone herself, her best romance story yet.You live the hero and heroines lives, you see through their eyes, you feel with their touch, and their emotions set the pages on fire. April 27, 1996 Grace St.John sees her husband and brother murdered and she runs seeking the reason why the senseless killing. On Friday, the thirteenth of October in the year of Our Lord 1307, the date which would be remembered as the day of darkness, was the destruction of the greatest military order to ever exist, the Knights of the Temple. A guardian of the treasure was chosen. Niall, Black Niall as he was called was chosen the Guardian. He protects a power that greedy people thru time has killed for. Grace St.John travels backward thru time seeking that power from Black Niall. Together they will conquer the greed of mankind in a romance that has no bounds. One other item I found of interest is that there is no proof that The Knight of the Templar did not exist.
Rating: Summary: Linda Howard is written another great book. Review: Linda's book Son of the Morning kept me up all night just panting for the end. I was left heart broken when her brother and husband were killed but always rooting for the great Black Niall. I loved the book and can't waite until her next novel comes out.
Rating: Summary: Bring your tissues, night light and fire extinguisher!!! Review: "Son of the Morning" will have you crying, up all night and it's a hot, hot read! It's been almost two months since I've read this book and it's still on my mind. I don't believe I have ever read a book that so completely taps all the emotions. "Son of the Morning" had me laughing, crying, angry, and happy. Throughout the entire book I was pulling for Grace and rejoicing with her when she kept eluding Parrish and hoping with her to hurry up and meet Niall. Surprisingly it is more than three-fourths through the books when Grace and Niall actually meet, but it does not detract from the story at all...especially with the hot dream-communication. It was so good to finally meen Niall and have him be even better in real life than he was in Grace's dreams. And the love scenes! Whew! It was worth waiting almost 300 pages for! She should have named this one "dream man" because Niall is a fantasy like no other. This is my favorite Linda Howard, but I haven't even read the MacKenzie series yet...
Bravo Linda Howard!
This is one that doesn't even get lent out!
Rating: Summary: A must read book that you can't wait to share with others. Review: I Love time travel, and this was very unique. It did not jump right in with the time travel like most of time travel books, and that was a very refreshing change. If you love suspence, and the magic of time travel, this book is a must. The story of Grace, combined with the tragic death of her brother and husband, and the quick thinking she does to keep on with her research in finding out why they were murdered. The feeling of desperation and not being able to trust anyone but herself and a young friend is so realistic. Though most of the book in placed in the present time, the way she finally unravels the mystery of time to call on Black Niall is worth the wait in this book. And of course the ending was a happy one. This is a very well written book with action, suspence, the magic of time travel, and romance all mixed into one. It is a MUST read
