Rating: Summary: Judith McNaught does it again! Review: Judith McNaught is the only author I love to hate... I love her writing abilities.. She is a wonderful author.. She can write a story like nobody else.. I read this book twice.. She has a way of writing where you cant turn the pages fast enough. My only criticism is, I wish she didnt always use the misunderstanding plot. I know that thats what offers the conflict but she is so good at writing a love story, that I wish sometimes the conflict could come from an outside source. Royce and Jenny are great characters.. Even her supporting characters, Akik, her Aunt, Stefan.. all add to what it is that makes this book so good. Yeah, I get annoyed at the characters somethimes.. It's what I call my "ROMEO AND JULIET" clause... Romeo taking the poison before realizing that Juliet was alive.. If only he would have been more patient and waited before killing himself.. they would have been happy forever.. Judith McNaughts writing makes me feel that way.. I just want to jump through the pages ang wring the offending characters neck! But I guess thats what makes her a great author. She is making her readers feel an emotion... Oh well, enough babble from me.. read the book.. she will not disappoint you at all. This is a great book... I've read it twice and have just let someone in my office borrow it. It's that good.
Rating: Summary: Still searching for another book just like this! Review: Kingdom of Dreams was a wonderful story! I could not put the book down for a minute! Years later I can still recall the story. This book, as well as Whitney My Love, are my absolute favorites! I am still searching (years later) for another author that has a similar writing style like Judith McNaught. She writes so descriptively you feel as if you are there! The story of Royce Westmoreland and Jenny was fascinating, exciting and compelling! I think this is my favorite book of all time! If you understand what I mean and you know of any author or book like these (Kingdom of Dreams, Whitney My Love) with descriptive writing w/ scenery outdoors and a real page turner, please let me know: barebones@worldnet.att.net I have yet to find another novel like Judith's! Thank you!
Rating: Summary: Enchanting! Review: Oh my God! What an awesome book! I thought I had read the best of Judith McNaught, that was of course before I read A KINGDOM OF DREAMS. It is such a beautiful story, it truly is amazing. Judith McNaught is just born to write. I was hooked on the book from the the first word to the Author's Note. There was never a dull moment. Since I had already read WHITNEY, MY LOVE and UNTIL YOU, I knew a bit about the Wesmorelands. And the whole family is just great, the heroes are defintely heroic, and honorable. Now the heroines, those women have got spunk! It is a great book, and I recommend it to any of Ms. McNaught's fans and any new fans out there.
Rating: Summary: My Favorite of all time: Review: I had to actually hunt for this book by Author so I could write a review because it is my all time favorite!!! I have read over 500 romance novels in 3 years!!! I was one of those people that looked at a romance novel and thought," How can anyone intelligent read that trash?!!!" Thats how I used to feel!!! Well needless to say I read one and haven't been able to stop, but like I said if you love a truly tender love story where the Hero is NOT a wimp and the Heroine is witty, and headstrong this is the book for you!!! I loved the amusing parts the most. I always say if a man wants to know what women want; read a romance novel!! I have never been disappointed in one of Mrs. McNaughts books, they are truly treasures worth reading.
Rating: Summary: Smashing! Review: I loved this book! It was only the second book of its romantic nature that i have read, but the first Judith McNaught book. I love being whisked away to ancient Scotland and England. And her book did just that. It is not every day you want a 438 page book to last longer! It was a book that made you just feel good! Marvelous!
Rating: Summary: Utterly Beautiful.... Review: This story is one of THE most romantic I have ever read in the 11 years I have been reading romance. This is the story of Jennifer Merrick from Scotland who is abducted by the powerful "Black Wolf", who is Royce Westmoreland. He is the most feared of the nobles of King Henry. Trouble is brewing between Scotland and England, Royce kidnaps his enemy's daughter to get the Clansmen to buckle. The story is filled with adventure and history. Knights in shining armor and castles...it's a beautifully written story of the ancestors of Claymore(from the Whitney, My Love book and Until You book.) The heartwrenching love between these two will make you cry. Especially when Jennifer swears feality to Royce. My eyes teared and my hearty constricted. It is the most romantic and beautiful scene I have ever read in a book. Judith McNaught has an uncanny way of knowing how to reach into the readers hearts with her writing. The characters were people I would love to know in real life. I especially loved Royce. He was so tender and what dreams are made of. Jennifer would make any woman proud with her defiance and bravery. I loved this story as much as I loved it's prequel "Whitney, My Love". This is a must read for those hopeless romantics out there like me. The other books in this series are: Whitney, My Love & Until You, in that order. Read this first before Whitney, My Love; even though it was written after. Then read Until You last. I hope you enjoy this series as much as I did. It's beautiful beyond words....
Rating: Summary: Incredible! Review: I have a long history with AKOD. The first time I read it was 2 years ago, and I absolutely hated it! Looking back, I think it was because I was too young to appreciate the time period..whatever it was, I couldn't even finish the book and I even gave it a very bad review right here on Amazon(which I now regret:)). 1 year ago, I re-read it and I liked it a lot that time, though it didn't make a huge impression. Then, recently, I bought it and this time I absolutely loved it. I'm not sure exactly what changed but I found myself loving everything about the book-the plot, the setting, the characters...especially the characters. Jenny is one of my favorite heroines , she has so much spirit and zest. I don't agree with some of the things she did, but her wonderful personality makes up for any shortcomings. And Royce-what a man! He is probably my favorite hero of all time. He is portrayed as this fierce, dangerous warrior, but in the end he is completely devoted to his wife. I've never read about any hero whose love for his wife is as deep as Royce's is for Jenny. And to add to this, he also happens to be devastatingly handsome and sexy! If you're thinking of buying this book, take my advice:do it! It'll be one of your best purchases ever, as will anything else by Judith McNaught, who is the best romance novelist ever:). Other recommendations: Perfect, Almost Heaven.
Rating: Summary: Adored the story and characters! Review: This is one of the first Judith McNaught books that I read and I was hooked from the first page! The heroine is wonderful and its a delight to read about the trouble she gives her kidnappers. The end will melt your heart! This book and "Until You" are my favorite Judith novels. I wholeheartedly recommend them even if you don't think you are into romance novels. Judith does a great job making you fall in love with her characters.
Rating: Summary: I'LL GIVE THIS A HUNDRED STARS IF I COULD! Review: I love Royce Westmoreland, he's the perfect hero for a feisty spirit like Jennifer Merrick. Their story is not the typical romance novel where the heroine always saves the day or the hero saves the heroine, in this novel they both saved each other. With Royce and Jennifer is a love that has endured so many things that you could almost say that they're meant for each other. The things they do for each other will almost make you cry. I first read this a few years ago and I'm still reading it. This book prompted me to collect all the novels written by Judith McNaught. I've read all of them and this one rates as one of the best. I assure you that you'll love this book too!
Rating: Summary: My first medieval romance, and hard to top Review: Judith McNaught's A KINGDOM OF DREAMS was the first medieval romance I ever read, and it remains one of my favorites. I can pick up and read the last couple of chapters any time and be reduced to tears, and while you might not think that's a stellar recommendation, it truly is. How many books have individual scenes so powerful in and of themselves that they can create such a strong reaction in a reader? The epilogue of this book is also fantastic, but lest you think I only love the end of this book, rest assured that it's all wonderful. Still, I was lucky enough to interview Ms. McNaught and ask her about the epilogue, and she told me, "I did cry when I wrote the last two paragraphs of the epilogue. It still makes me cry." For me, Ms. McNaught is an uneven writer - some of the books other reads love the most have not worked for me. But A KINGDOM OF DREAMS is my absolute favorite.
