Rating: Summary: Kingdom of Dreams was the perfect Fantasy novel! Review: This novel was and has been my favourite of romances ever since I read it. I could not keep it down for a minute. I finished the book in a day and a half. It had the perfect blend of reality and fantasy mixed in with romance, adventure, kidnapping, rescues, escapes, and tournaments. In my opinion, anyone who loves Judith McNaught should quickly read this novel before any of her others. Nothing else compares to the waterfall of emotions you go through while reading this book. It is definately a must-read!!
Rating: Summary: Laughter, dramatic tension, romance, heroism -- all here! Review: As a girl, I read a lot of romance novels, including Gone with the Wind, Green Mansions, novels about the Tudor Years and Henry VIII and all of his wives! As an adult,I've studied literature, poetry and philosophy. Mostly, I read Booker Prize Winners, Pulitzer Prize Winners, National Book award winners.... For some reason, I picked up one of Judith McNaught's books a couple of weeks ago for some light reading. I have now read three of them: Almost Heaven, Something Wonderful, and most recently, A Kingdom of Dreams. Of the three, I liked AKOD best. Ms. McNaught's novels remind me of Jane Austen and Shakespeare all rolled into one writer. In fact, I think they would both admire Ms. McNaught for her imaginative use of devices they themselves used. I laughed out loud reading all 3 books, but laughed the hardest when reading AKOD. She develops flesh and blood characters with good and bad traits (human) that you really care about. You can envision every scene. The tension can be tormenting, but when you know the story will end well, the tension is bearable. As other reviewers have said, I kept thinking what a marvelous movie this story would make. I stayed up until 3:30 a.m. reading because I simply could not stop!
Rating: Summary: hollywood-buy this book Review: read it and you will understand why this movie needs to be made
Rating: Summary: Absolutely Wonderful! Review: Don't miss reading this book. I experienced all emotions while reading it. Towards the end I felt anger and then tears. The scene on the tournament field was absolutely heart wrenching. I fell in love with Royce Westmoreland. What a man! This was just an excellent story. Also, great stories were "Whitney, My Love" and "Until You" all three having to do with the Westmoreland men. I highly recomend all three books. McNaught is very good, and she dares to deal with real life issues such as rape and that may not please all readers but it does me because that's the reality of life. I like my fantasy books to have reality in them. Thanks, McNaught.
Rating: Summary: A Kingdom of Dreams and Whitney my love Review: The best romance(s) I have ever read. Even though one takes place 1497 and one 1816, you can still relate. From the minute you pick up the book, you are already have a picture of what they look like, and the scenes. I just cannot say enough about how much I was (and still am) obsessing about Royce and Jennifer's love story. I wish they would have this in audio or video or a movie! I love it! I want her to write another one about the Westmoreland family. Is there any chance??????? Someone in Hollywood, buy it!
Rating: Summary: A Kingdom of Dreams and Whitney my Love Review: I have just read my second Judith McNaught book. Back in August, I discovered A Kingdom of Dreams. I finished it in two days( in and out of airports and rental cars...) I loved it. I did not think I would like something so "ancient". I could not put it down. We went to dinner, it came with me. I was so engrossed in it. The characters seemed so real to me, as if when I put it down, it was still going on in "Their part of the world." I cannot say enough about it. Very romantic. I can't stop thinking about Royce and their tale of romance. I still keep thinking it really happened so long ago. The best part in my opinion was at the end when he bowed before her to honor her just before going into his match with everyone. I think that was the best part of his love for her, and most romantic for me. Also, how he kept his word at the end by not hurting her family. Whitney-my love... Ahh Clayton Westmoreland. I did not know it was the same family. (I was hoping it was, figuring it had to be, so I bought it!) This, was a very romantic story also. Sometimes I was so angry with him (acting the way he did) but I think it was a great romance, I have to go and purchase Until You now. I don't know if anyone reading this can help me, but I am looking for A Kingdom of Dreams in hardcover. I liked these two stories because they are very romantic without alot of trashy stuff. The descriptions of the heated moments are great. They keep you going, not wanting to put it down. I loved it and bought 4 copies for friends for them to read. I actually wanted to say Thanks to Judith for giving me an idea for our own family tradition. (The chest Jennifer started.) Thanks for great books!
Rating: Summary: WONDERFUL! Review: I have read many romance novles over the years and it's not often that I love a book so much that I read it 20 times over! But I did with this book! Rating: Summary: I picked this book up on a whim.... Review: I did something with this book I have never done before. After I read the last page I stopped for a moment and then turned back to the first page and I read it again.I keep many books to re-read, and many I have read MANY times over the years, but I have never re-read after finishing it the first time. This book was that good. I immediately was swept into the characters and the time period and I will re-read this one for many years to come! I just happened upon the book, I was looking for "something" without knowing what and I picked it up, I am so glad I did. I am now buying other novels by this author, but this one will always be on the shelf!!!
Rating: Summary: Sweet, kind, and stupid Review: Over the years I have read this book on several occasions and, like most of McNaught's works, have enjoyed it, with one glaring exception: the heroine. She is sweet, kind, generous, everything a heroine should be--and also too stupid to live. How many rotten things does her family have to do to convince her that they're a pack of jackals?
