Summary: Another Winner!
Review: I have always loved Judith McNaught's books and I can honestly say she is the one author whose books I can read and re-read and read again because she is just excellent!

In "A Kingdom of Dreams", we meet the headstrong and courageous Lady Jennifer Merrick and the strong, possessive alpha male, "The Wolf" aka duke of Claymore or otherwise known as Royce Westmoreland.

Jenny is not your typical weepy, faint-hearted heroine. Instead, she is loyal to her country Scotland and resists all the commands issued by her captor-later-turned-lover-then-husband. She is strong-willed and is also one of my favourite heroines of all time.

Royce is again, the predictable big, brawny, dominant hero who expects everyone to cower at the sight of him...everyone but Jenny. Nonetheless, he is taken by her wit, charm and courageous personality. Royce seems invincible until the near-end of the
book when he eventually got injured in order to keep his word to Jenny. That scene made me cry.

To conclude, this is another winner from Judith McNaught in addition to others like "Whitney, My Love" and "Until You".
Keep on writing, Judith!

Summary: Fascinating
Review: AKOD is by far the best romance novel that I have read in years. I was introduced to the genre by Johanna Lindsey, and over time I have gotten tired of her quick-paced, somewhat unrealistic stories. After browsing amazon.com, I came across Judith McNaught and decided to give one of her books a try. I am a creature of habit, and I like my historical romance novels to follow the standard scenario of virginal heroine and rugged hero coming together. However, depending on the writer, this tends to get old. McNaught took these basic elements that we have all seen before and crafted them into a fantastic plot. There was nothing that different about AKOD than other novels, so it was McNaught's writing style and attention to detail that drew me in. Her in-depth coverage of the characters, both primary and secondary, really made the book. Also, it's hard to put subtle humor in print without being obvious, but McNaught was able to do it, and I was pleasantly surprised. I just ordered two more of her books; this Lindsey fan is making a change! I highly recommend AKOD!!!

Summary: My favorite JM novel, now tied with Someone To Watch Over Me
Review: This is a wonderful book. Full of excitement, multi-layered characters, plot twists and turns that keep you running the gamut of emotions from happiness to sorrow to bliss to tears and thrills. I loved this book.

It is my favorite historical by Judith McNaught tied only with her new contemporary, Someone To Watch Over Me which is a masterfully written novel full of mystery and intrigue that keeps you on the edge of your seat trying to guess what will happen next and rarely are you correct.

Whether you like historical or regency or contemporary, you will not find another author with the depth of writing as Judith McNaught.

Summary: Beautifully Written...As Always
Review: I have read all of Judith McNaught's books and this ranks up in the top 3 for me. I started to read her for the regency/victorian time periods and she dragged me futher into the past as well as back into the present. This ending is the kind that when I have a bad day I simple read the last 30 or so pages and sigh. If you like this book or haven't tried McNaught's books yet I definantly recommend it. Then read my all time favorite, Until You.

Summary: The best of Judith McNaught!
Review: While re-reading this book for what could very well be the hundredth time, I was struck by how the story still manages to churn my emotions even though I have read it so many times. To me that is what makes a book a true keeper and this book certainly is that.
This is the wonderful story of Scottish countess Jennifer Merrick and her knight in shining armor ( or actually black armor) Royce Westmoreland better known as the Black Wolf.
Jennifer has grown up hearing stories of the Wolf's plundering and pillaging agaisnt the Scottish people. He is reportedly the most bloodthirsty of Henry's noble's, and he is the man who is currently waging war agaisnt her own clan. While Jennifer dreams of one day being laird of her clan, her domineering father has dashed those dreams and sent her to an abbey, supposedly to curb young Jennifer's tempestous and headstrong nature. While strolling near the abbey Jenny and her stepsister are kidnapped by none other than the Black Wolf's brother who took the opportunity after overhearing Jenny's identity. Royce is annoyed by his brother's actions but recognizes the value of his young hostages and decides to keep them. After all how much trouble can two little meek women cause. Well, it turns out a lot. Royce finds that while her sister will cry at the sight of her own shadow, Jenny is far from the meek, biddable hostage he was hoping for. After slashing his clothes and blankets to shreds, stealing his horse while attempting an escape and then slashing his face with a dagger, Jenny falls victim to Royce's seductive ways and sexy smile (sigh).Soon, Royce is captivated by her strength and her unusual looks and is determined to have her despite the consequences. On the other hand, Jenny is torn between the feelings he arouses in her and loyalty for her country and her clan. However, Royce is hard to resist and pretty soon Jenny finds herself in his bed and soon after she is head over heels in love with the ferocious, tender and sexy warrior. However, a happily ever after ending for Jenny and Royce will be a tough, hard won battle. Especially after Royce breaks Jenny's heart and severes the trusting bond that had formed between them by committing an unspeakable act agaisnt her family. In order to win back his lady's heart, Royce will have to make the ultimate sacrifice.

My paltry words will not do this book justice, all I can say is that this is romance at its finest. Highly recommended :)

Summary: Beautiful Love Story
Review: AKOD is my favorite of McNaught's books. I adored the main characters, Royce Westmoreland and Jennifer Merrick. You really feel the deep love between them. In the beginning you will think, "how will these two ever end up together?", but as the story unfolds, they seem absolutely perfect for each other. Unlike some of McNaught's other heroes and heroines, I also admired Royce and Jenny. They fought bitterly in the beginning, and you can't blame them. They are sworn enemies, of course. But as they come to know each other, they are drawn to each other and slowly begin to fall in love. After one night of passion, they are deeply in love. He wants to marry her, but she escapes before he confesses his true feelings and intentions. His confrontation with Graverley does not strike me as entirely believable. Royce seemed like such a private man, and publicly confessing their love affair and his marital intentions to such a gossip lacked poor judgement. I didn't like the fact that he also blamed Jenny for his outburst to Graverley, who spread all the juicy gossip at court. After a forced marriage by royal decree, they argue and fight again, but soon overcome their problems. This is where Royce and Jenny are different from McNaught's other main characters. They actually confront their problems and talk it out. They don't jump to ridiculous conclusions (e.g., the appalling Clayton and Jordan). As a husband, Royce treats Jenny like his equal. He does not berate or degrade her. And he is so forgiving. He is a real hero who possesses intelligence AND maturity. He truly understands Jenny, even better than she understands herself. He is so perceptive he can almost read her mind. And his love for her allows him to forgive her for her one mistake that nearly costs him his life. Jenny, on the other hand, is a torn between her love for Royce and her family. She is so touching and sweet. Some have criticized her undivided loyalty to her father as stupidity, but I don't find it foolish at all. She loves her father unconditionally, and eventually comes to realize his betrayal. When Royce kills her beloved stepbrother she feels tremendous guilt and sadness. She turns her back on Royce, believing he doesn't love her. You can't entirely blame her. He never said he loved her up to that point. Also, think if the tables were turned, and Jenny killed Stefan. Would Royce be so forgiving? Perhaps, but he would be furious with her at first. At the tournament, she finally realized Royce's depth of love, and prevents her family from murdering him. The ending is heartbreaking. I wish McNaught would write another book with Royce and Jenny as secondary characters, for they are wonderful to read about. Of all McNaught's main characters, they (along with Ian and Elizabeth) seem truly soul mates. This book is McNaught at her finest. Her other novels possess better dialogue, but as the hero and heroine Royce and Jenny are second to none. I highly recommend this book, for it will leave you breathless with admiration and respect for two individuals who possess amazing love and courage.
