Summary: The best historical romance I have read
Review: I usually don't like to read sequels. So I read this book many years after I read my first Westmoreland story: Whitney, my love. I truly love that book, and this one is even better, or at least I don't want to compare them. I also like Paradise by Judith McNaught a lot, five star, highly recommended.

Summary: It was good, but could have been better.
Review: I thought that there were some really good parts in this book, but thought it could have been better. First, I think Royce and Jennifer's bond was not as tight as it could have been in a true romance. They seemed to always be at odds and always misunderstanding and "hating" eachother. I found it hard to feel that the two really had the close loving bond that the author wanted you to think they had. They had lust, but it wasn't until the VERY end of the book they you could sense the love and devotion. Jennifer got on my nerves. She was WAY too angry and never seemed to give him any slack until it was almost too late. I felt sorry for Royce and mad at her.

The book did have some highlights, however. I LOVED Aunt Elinor. I laughed so hard at some of the comments she made to and about Arik. I also loved the bravery of Royce toward the end. If only there would have been more of a strong bond between Royce and Jennifer from the beginning instead of just lust, I would have enjoyed this book a whole lot better. I really enjoyed Julie Garwood's "Honor's Splendor," if you want a good captor/captive story that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Summary: really 4.5
Review: A Kingdom of Dreams is an extremely touching JM book. However, I would consider Almost Heaven and Something Wonderful superior. Therefore, it only gets 4.5 stars.

Jennifer Merrick is a reckless, impulsive, courageous Scottish girl, the daughter of one of the most powerful chieftains in Scotland. The cheiftain who hates the man she is about to marry...

The Wolf is feared throughout the land where stories travel of his ruthlessness. Royce's men capture Jennifer and her stepsister while they are strolling along the hill in the back of an abbey where they have been put by their father. To be used as hostages to force a peaceful surrender from Lord Merrick, Jenny and Brenna are forced to stay under constant surveillance of Royce's army.

They plot an escape attempt and fail, riling Royce's embarrassment and anger. However, it is also then, at the height of both their anger, that Jenny and Royce realize they are attracted to each other. However, Jenny still tries to get away in order to make her family proud of her.

Brenna becomes ill and Jenny begs Royce to release her and he agrees if Jenny returns the favor with her body in his bed. However, this isn't just something physical. Afterward...Royce finds that he cannot keep her as just a mistress. Even after Royce gives her his trust and believes in her word, she escapes just when he is about to propose to her...escaping into the forest with her brother. That really upset me, considering the fact that I knew Royce had trusted her. Moreover, Royce treated Jenny and Brenna better than any prisoner has a right to be treated.

Royce, made a laughingstock because of his inability to successfully contain two women and angered by Jenny's abuse of trust (he naturally thinks that everything Jenny told him that night they were together were lies), tells the King that he wouldn't wed her if she were the Queen of Scotland and only upon his head, did he agree to the match. On the other hand, rumors have been swirling unbridled, twisting the truth so that Jenny thinks that Royce has called her the Merrick slut...her reputation ruined throughout two countries.

There are many...too many...misunderstandings that I began to become a bit sick of it. Then just as they were falling in love, unexpectedly, Royce does the one thing guaranteed to break Jenny's trust and heart. Don't want to ruin it for you though, so check out the story for the devastating thing that occurred. Because of this, Jenny's waning loyalty to her unloving and cruel father restores itself and she again allows herself to be tricked by him into harming Royce emotionally while he and his clan harms him physically during a tournament, for Royce gave Jenny his word that none of her family members would be hurt.

Having finally realized the ruthlessness of her family, Jenny finally sees how much Royce loves her and how much he went through to get her to forgive him...and the ending is familiarly sweet and touching.

Out of all the other JM books that I have read, I felt the most for Royce because there were so many moments when he is tender and caring and loving. In Almost Heaven and Something Wonderful, the heroes always had so much pride that it would take them so long to see reason...usually after they've already hurt their love's feelings. For Royce, even after everything she accuses him of and after all she did to humiliate him out of some misplaced loyalty to her clan, he still thinks that he's been blessed with her and that he doesn't deserve her love and loyalty, taking her back even though he almost died at her family's hands. Out of all the heroes, Royce is the most compassionate and loving. =)

Summary: one of McNaught's best
Review: This book is the prequel to Whitney My Love. They are both excellent novels! This is the story of Brenna and Royce. Kingdom of Dreams is set in generations before Whitney and tells the tale of a war hardened man whose heart softens when he meets his match in a small young lady (and i mean young) named Brenna. Brenna, who has long saught the love of her father and his people, finds her kingdom of dreams amongst Royce and his people. In the end, she has to defy her father to prove to her husband that she is his afterall.

This is a great novel with wonderful characters and irresistible charm!

Summary: So so,
Review: First of all I'd like to say that I truly admire ANYONE that can write a novel...and I mean ANYONE! Writing a book on any subject is something I could never do, but I do love reading and am great at that, it is one of my favorite things to do. I read a little bit of something each and every night as a matter-of-fact, and romance novels in any genre are my favorite. I'd like to say that even though I have read most of Judith McNaught's novels (to me) they are beginning to sorta read alike. Sorta boring after awhile. I did finish A Kingdom of Dreams, but it took me forever simply because the story line reminded me of too many of Judith McNaught's other stories. What' up with that? Sadly, I feel the same way about many of the older romance writers. Lately, I have been leaning towards some of the newer writers because of the repeative content of the stories of these older (been around like forever) authors. Authors like Stella Cameron, Kirstie Maguire, and a few writers that write for the Red Shoe series. I think some of the newer writers like these writers are exciting and the books I have read by them have left me breathless and longing for more. If you enjoy romance novels that are standard in content then you will enjoy this book and books like this book by writers like Judith McNaught, but if you want a story that bounches off the page as you read it then try something a little different. Nothing personal intended to writers that have been around too long, (in my opinion), just one person's point of view and thoughts on the subject of romance novels and the people who write for a living. I figure if I spent my money on this book and books like this book I should be allowed my opinion after all, it is the book buyer (like myself) that keeps you big-shot writers in business, right?

Summary: If you love Clayton, you'll love his ancestors...
Review: This is a prequel to Whitney, My Love, and it was an excellent foray into medieval romance. A first for me. I enjoyed it from page one, and have kept this on my shelf so I can read it again later. Enjoy.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A Must Read for Fans of Medieval Romance
Review: This is my favorite Judith McNaught novel and one of my favorite romances of all time.

Both the main and supporting character are extremely well written. You'll find yourself laughing and crying right along with them.

I will give nothing away -- but this book has one of the most romantic and heart wrenching conclusions ever written.

Romance lost a great writer when Ms. McNaught moved on to the better paying suspense genre.

Summary: Historical Romance with punch!
Review: Now we're talking! This is a historical Romance full of fun, adventure, and sensuality done right.
Judith McNaught out does herself in this wonderful story of Royce Westmoreland and Jennifer Merrick.

Known as "the wolf" Royce Westmoreland kidnaps Jennifer Merrick from her convent along with her sister. Jennifer Merrick is an extremely strong and wonderful heroine. Royce finds that she is not impressed with his persona, but with whom he is as a man. They share their dreams of "a kingdom of dreams" where anything can happen. This emotional bond between them is felt throughout the book and is described beautifully.

This is a prequel to WHITNEY MY LOVE, and the Westmoreland series. It does not disappoint. It's a unique story, with stand alone characters rich in depth and since the time line does not overlap WHITNEY MY LOVE, is able to stand on its own as a classic.

Summary: Kingdom of Dreams Review
Review: One of the reasons I like this book so much is because of the gallantry of hero, but that its not a normal hero that sweeps the heroine off her feet, and lives happily ever after. The author, Judith Mcnaught, comes up with a couple that meets in the most unlikeliest of ways. In this particular book, the man, who is tall, dark and handsome in all of her books is the bad guy, at least at first. McNaught comes up with many complications for the pair, even after the are forced into an arranged marraige together. So many things happen to them that you wonder if this novel is going to have the same happily ever after that the rest of her books have, and the question isn't answered until the last couple pages.

Review: Excellent romance. This is what I am looking for in a romance novel. Good Characterization, excellent plot.
