Summary: Newsman and Stud Loses Bet and Finds Love
Review: In Carly Phillips book, "The Bachelor," we are introduced to the Chandler brothers. There is Chase Chandler who gave up his dreams to run the small town newspaper when his father died. Then there is Rick, the middle brother, who was previously scorned in love and is a confirmed bachelor. Lastly, Roman is the baby who comes home from his foreign correspondent job when their mother takes ill. Little do they know that Raina plays on their sympathies by letting them believe her condition is much worse than it really is. Her fondest wish is to see her boys settled and have grandkids. The sons have a terrific idea to determine who will be the "lucky" person to fulfill Raina's dream. Roman loses or wins (depending on your point of view).

While back in the town that hasn't changed since he left, Roman starts to scout out potential wives. That's the think about small towns...not much selection. The one person he won't consider is Charlotte Bronson for the role. She was the only one who rejected him in high school. He is still confused by her actions because they had chemistry. Charlotte's father had dreams of making it in Hollywood and left the family behind to pursue his dreams. He came back after long absences only to leave again. Roman's plan is to find a wife that won't mind him traveling to far off places and then cruise back into town to be a father and husband when it's convenient. Knowing Charlotte's past, he refuses to hurt her. The trouble is when they catch up with each other, there is that same pull.

A subplot is there are burglaries going on in town and Charlotte's store is the common denominator. Rick asks Roman to help him track down the thief. The characters involved are colorful and quirky. Since this is the first book in the series, you want to meet the townspeople so you know who they are for the next novels.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It delved into the emotions of relationships in a real way. It was not overly serious but I would not call it a romantic comedy. It is similar to "Ally McBeal," in that it falls somewhere in the middle. I can't wait to start the next book in the series, "The Playboy" tonight.

Summary: I Liked It
Review: I have learned over the many years that I have been reading that you shouldn't expect every book you read to become your favorite. Many reviewers have claimed that they were disappointed with this selection. They read it because Kelly Ripa suggested it. I, too, am one of those people that read THE BACHELOR because it was recommended by Kelly. I bought the book to enjoy the fluff. That is all that "Reading with Ripa" promised. The books on her list don't require companion books to explain the premise. The selections don't make great promises to lure the reader to make huge life decisions. This book is intended for a quick summer read that is light and fluffy and easy to read. THE BACHELOR comes through.

The story is fun and cute. Three brothers swearing off marriage and their mom who would do anything to get a grandbaby... It's funny and simple, the perfect beach book. Sit back, enjoy, and don't expect life-altering messages like Oprah, and you'll will love and anticipate the rest of the series!

Summary: Light and Funny!
Review: If you are looking for a light, humorous romance, this book is perfect. The book focuses on the Chandler Boys (mainly Roman Chandler) and their desperate mother, Raina. Raina claims she has a weak heart in order to get her sons married with children. All three brothers are confirmed bachelors and are reluctant to get married. Roman is the youngest brother and by the loss of a coin toss is propelled to be the first to settle down. Which also means he may have to give up his job as a foreign correspondent. Then Charlotte, the love of Roman's life who got away, enters the picture...
This story is somewhat predictable but very whimsical. Reading this story left me wanting more, so I moved on to The Playboy and then The Heartbreaker.

Summary: A fun read! .... (Crocheted Panties? )
Review: This is one of to read if you want something fun and light-- I enjoyed it (more than I thought I would when I first picked it up) though The Playboy is still my favorite so far... I haven't read The Heartbreaker, yet, though. The Chander Boys' mom decides to use her doctor's visit to make her boys think that she might not be around all that much longer and to make her wishes come true - to see at least one of her sons married and have a grandchild. (I know- sounds silly, huh? Hey, to some it gets worse.) The three sons have a coin toss and Roman wins (or losses, whichever way you want to look at it). Roman nows agree to proceed with finding himself a bride. That is when he learns that his old high school crush, Charlotte Bronson, has moved back home divorced. Roman's idea of a wife is one that he can tolerate long enough to marry, set up house with, get pregnant, and then leave to continue his life style as a world-travelled journalist with no regards to wife/or child. Charlotte puts a damper on Roman's plans- because he can't get her out of his mind or heart and the other town's girls don't match up to Charlotte. One date brings back sweet memories. Charlotte would never accept such an arrangement as the one that Roman is looking for. She has made a life of her own in Yorkshire Falls as the owner of a lingerie shop (she even makes her own crocheted panties- how comfortable can they be? ha,ha,ha!!!) and would never agree to to a long distance romance. So will Roman and Charlotte be able to come up with a compromise? There are several things going on as well as Roman and Charlotte's story - mom's health and a pantie thief. Read it and have fun.

Summary: Better than I expected
Review: I read this book because I wanted to see if Kelly Ripa could choose books as well as Oprah. I will admit that this book wasn't the best book I've ever read, but it was a good book nonetheless.

This is the story of a woman named Raina Chandler, who wants a grandchild. However, her three sons are notoriously professed bachelors, so Raina fakes a heart problem so that one of her kids will marry. After a coin toss, Roman is the one who must find a wife. He eventually chooses his high school sweetheart Charlotte, with only an obstacle or two getting in his way.

There is also a secondary plot, which involves a panty thief that goes into women's houses and steals their underwear. It was okay enough, though it doesn't take more than 2 clues to learn who the culprit is.

This is a good book that is nothing more than a beach read or a read to make the time go by, and it doesn't pretend to be anything more.

Summary: A perfect take-to-read-on-your-vacation contemp. romance!
Review: If you're looking for something heavy and meaningful, don't read The Bachelor. However, if you're looking for something light, fun and sexy, I recommend The Bachelor.

Charlotte Bronson (her dad named her since his favorite actor is Charles Bronson and even calls her "Charlie") has secretly been in love with Roman since High School. Roman also had an eye for her since those days.

It is now 10 years later and both find themselves back in their hometown. The heat and sparks that come off of them whenever they are near each other was told well enough to have me turning the pages. We all know how the book is going to end but as any well read romance reader knows, it's not the getting there that is enjoyable to read about but WHAT they do in the meantime that is so wonderful to read.

Ms. Phillips can write one sensual love story and make a pair of hand woven bikini panties the best sex tool I've read about in a very long time. If you're looking for a light and sexy love story, The Bachelor is not to be missed.

Summary: Gitty!!!!
Review: I absolutley love books like this! Even though I knew how it would end up, I fell in love with the storyline, the characters, and the town of Yorkshire Falls. Not to mention the picture of the Chandler brothers I had in my mind based on their description....WOW! I can't wait to read the next two Chandler books!

Summary: 1 down two to go
Review: I could not put this book down. Yes its a bit cheesy and a light read, but the romance, passion, chemistry between Roman and Charlotte was what made this book worthwhile. The boy's mother...what a riot. Immediately after reading this I ran out and got The Playboy. The only problem is I will have to wait a few months for the third book.

Summary: Sexy Roman!
Review: This book's cover jumped out at me and I had to start reading it as soon as I got home. This book is the first of three, each about a different Chandler man. Raina, their mother, wants nothing more than her boys to be happy and in love just as she was with her husband. Well, she wants them happy AND she wants grandchildren! She develops a plot to hopefully get her boys on the move. The three Chandler men literally flip a coin to decide who's going to settle down and start the baby-making.

Roman is the "loser," as he says, of the coin toss. He soon discovers that the only girl that ever really got his attention has moved back into town. Charlotte becomes his target, but because Roman is a world-wide traveler she wants to keep her distance. Her father was just like Roman, and she doesn't want to end up like her mother. Roman and Charlotte are two great characters! I found myself not being able to put this book down, I read it all in one day!

Summary: I loved this book!
Review: ... I loved it, light and romantic, they had gerat sexual chemistry! I thought the mother was hilarious (though I didn't agree with the fake heart problem). I read it in a day and immediately started reading the Playboy which I loved even more. Can't wait for the Heartbreaker to come out.
