Summary: American wild at heart meets its British match
Review: This is my 2nd most favorite of Ms. Garwood's novels. The Bride will always be the best. I loved Christina. She is independent, strong and very resourceful. I think I like her even better than Jamie (The Bride). Lyon is the perfect match for the beautiful and headstrong Christina. He is not the typical brutish, insensitive hero who tries to bend her will (not as much anyway). I laughed so hard when he think she constantly falls out of their bed and the fact that everytime she is upset with him, she cuts her hair. I recommend this book and the trilogy of The Gift, The Castles and Guardian Angel also. Julie: Keep on writing.

Summary: Very Disappointed!!
Review: This is the first book by Julie Garwood that I have read. I was sorely disappointed with it. At first it was OK. The idea of a white child being raised with Indians was good. Once she gets to England it gets boring. I felt the book just dragged and dragged. It's obvious that Christina and Lyon are attracted to each other from the beginning. OK, then what???? We don't reaad of her father until the very end. All this build up about him and he has only a few pages in the end of the story. And what about her Indian family?? She could've at least gone and seen them. She sure had enough money to. So much for loving your family as she proclaimed to. I just couldn't get into these characters. I'm glad I took this book out of the library rather than have spent hard earned monry on it.

Summary: A really unique spin on the regency romance
Review: This is the first Julie Garwood book I've ever read (I just picked it up in the supermarket checkout line) and it was a very enjoyable read. Both Christina and Lyon are likable, interesting characters and you know from the first that they belong together. I liked the unique backstory of Christina being raised by Native Americans in the Black Hills. That made for some interesting cultural clashes that were also often humorous. You were frustated and confused right along with Lyon! It also gave Christina some unique character traits for a romance heroine. She was extremely self-sufficient, but was smart enough not to let it show too much - the warriors need to feel that they alone can protect their women, you know!

But I also have to agree with another reviewer that there were some inconsistencies and loose ends that were a bit annoying. First, I thought the prologue would never end! All that build up about her being accepted by her new Indian family was a bit tedious and then there is no substantive reference to them again except in explaining Christina's past or behaviour. I also felt that both characters were a bit too emotional in anger. He seems unable to control his temper where she is concerned (though he has been a spy for years and should be able to control his emotions better) and she matches him shout for shout, though it seems unlikely that such behaviour would be tolerated in an Indian wife - Christina says it herself at one point that "wives should be submissive to their husbands". Ha! - she rarely is! And I never did get the whole "Brisbane Affair" but that wasn't central to the story so I'll let that go. And how could her father have been so incredibly, murderously cruel and rotten and no one ever noticed? Everyone thought he was such a nice guy!

But though I had some problems with the book, it is still well written, interesting, funny and eventhough they declare their love fairly early on, there is still sufficient plot to sustain the story. I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to others.

Summary: One of the best romances written!
Review: This thrilling story seamlessly combines mystery, intrigue, and humor with an aching romance. Lyon and Christina are originals, and they are clearly made for each other. Some romances have heroes and heroines who are dynamic . . . yet don't quite possess that certain quality as a couple that makes them special and believable. Lyon and Christina are true soul-mates, which comes through from their first memorable scene together.

Throughout the novel, their love and feelings shout from the page, creating a larger than life romance. To me, this is the best kind of romance novel--they are meant for each other, and the attraction and tender feelings are there from the beginning. Together they face the forces that would drive them apart. This is vastly preferable in my opinion than books where the hero and heroine do not even seem to like each other--but they still have sexual relationships and don't even realize their love until the last page of the novel.

Garwood has created a love story for the ages, one to cherish. Reading it for the first time and sharing Christina and Lyon's love and adventures is something I envy everyone who hasn't had the good fortune to come across this book before now.

Summary: A must read for romance lovers
Review: This was one of the first books I read by Julie Garwood and I really loved it!!! In fact it hooked me on her books and by now I think I've read almost all of them. This one tells the delightful story of Christina a white baby raised by the Dakota tribe in America that goes back to England to fullfill her destiny, and Lyon an english peer that has no room for love in his heart. The characters are very well described, you can feel the story developing and can't stop reading till you reach the end.

Summary: YUCK!
Review: This was the only Garwood book that I actually couldn't force myself to finish. I have loved all her other books I have read. The relationship between Lyon and Christina seemed forced and contrived, not natural at all. When they kiss for the first time it didn't even seem real and I don't think Garwood did a good job building up the story to get the reader involved with the characters by that point. The characters were poorly developed, the dialogue crap, the plot really confusing. I felt like this was maybe a story she had written before she got "published" and then came back later and reworked it to publish it. It just didn't seem consistent with her other writing, like Honor's Splendour, Saving Grace, Ransom, The Prize, etc. I was wondering if I was even reading the same author!

Summary: Great Book
Review: Very entertaining, funny and almost believable. I love Garwood's style of writing. You won't go wrong buying this book.

Summary: I hated this book!!!
Review: Well, maybe "hate" is too strong of a word for any Julie Garwood book. She and Judith McNaught are my favorite authors and I have read almost every one of their books. However, I really didn't like this one. Christina just seemed too loose for me. I liked how in Garwood's other books, the characters were married before they had sex. Christina seemed to always throw herself at Lyon and she had no inhibition whatsoever. While I liked the fact that she was totally self-reliant and could take care of herself, she had no caution, for example, going to the tavern by herself. I either didn't like the characters or were indifferent to them throughout the book. Of all the Julie Garwood books, this one is one of the worst.
