Rating: Summary: A delightful book! Review: I don't usually write reviews, in fact, this will be my first one. But I've seen alot of back and forth bickering over this book, seen Sherri defending herself, etc. and I wanted to write one because I just finished this book.I really liked this book. It is not my favorite by Sherri (or Kinley, if you would rather) but I will keep it, if not only to say that I have almost every book by her (except the extremely expensive htf ones) since she is one of my favorite authors. I don't know what being historically accuriate has to do with a good romance novel, but for some I know it is a pet peeve of theirs. Personally, I like Kinley's style of writing. It is always witty, humorous and enjoyable. It's a good break from other books that tend to drag on about the description of the cathedral, or dress style or whatever it is the writer is usually trying to throw in your face. Certainly I like to picture the book's contents, but that isn't what truly interests me. It's the developement between the characters. Dialogue, clashing of wills, intrigue, those are the things I like in books and Kinley has ALWAYS delivered those things to me. I am not saying that any of her books are inaccurate, what I am saying that I wouldn't care if they are because I would enjoy them if she was touting the sky to be pink and woman were really pigs in disguise. Why? Because I like her writing. Sometimes I like her stories better than others, sometimes I don't. It all depends on what appeals to me. My favorite story may not be someone else's favorite story. That said, let's get to this book. I thoroughly enjoyed the book. Once I got into it, I didn't want to put it down and unfortunately I had to because I had to go to work. It made me chuckle, laugh and giggle. I've started taking those sizzling love scenes in stride these days as just part of the story, but they are fun to read if that's what you're looking for in a romance novel. (And let's face it, if you read sexy romances, you're into it whether you admit it or not. Just like me, but *shhh* that's MY dirty lil secret LOL) Nora was actually very refreshing and alot like me... chatty! I would love to find me an Ewan who adored my runaway mouth... ;-) And Ewan was understandably tortured. It's like a trademark of Kinley's. I don't know about you, but isn't it most every woman's fantasy to capture the bad boy lone wolf? The one man every woman wants for herself? I think Kinley delivers that in each of her books, and this one is no different. I also think it was a wonderful idea of hers (if not a bit predictable in a funny way) to keep us guessing about Kieran. I'm also taking bets on who Lochlan's love interest will turn out to be. I'll bet you fifty buck I already know! Anyways, Sherri/Kinley don't let those bad reviews get to you. I love your stuff and am eagerly awaiting your next DH book... *drooling* as I await all of your books... in eager anticipation!
Rating: Summary: Not as good as Born In Sin Review: I enjoyed reading this book. I had a bit of a problem with the hero's stupidity, he was likeable and everything but he was just plain dense especially before the ending. The heroine was the redeeming quality of this book, she was a fun character to read, like a breath of fresh air. I get sick and tired of heroines who are so plain stubborn ("No, no no I can't do this! It's wrong!"...while she pants in heat, the heroine tells the hero the same thing-yada yada yada...repeatedly, until the end or middle of the book she finally gives in) that it gets old, boring and stale. The other characters in the book including the brothers were fun to read about as well. The plot was a bit too slow for me but all in all, it was a good book. I can't wait for Kierens' story! I do hope the next story is about Kieren instead of Lochlan because the ending of the series would be greater if the leader of the clan be the last to find true love. That would be a neat package!
Rating: Summary: Another Good Story By Ms. MacGregor!!! Review: I must admit to buying anything with "Kinley MacGregor" or "Sherrilyn Kenyon" on the cover. She really is a talented author and really worth reading! This is the third in the MacAllister series and although to many it's not on the same level as the previous two titles I think that it's just as good with a combination of quirky humor, and touching sentiment! Ewan MacGregor is living a life of solitude because he feels that he was directly responsible for the death of his brother Kieran. His quite but drunk life comes to a rather loud end when Nora comes to his cave dwelling looking for an escort to England. She is shocked to see the naked but yummy Ewan laying out on his bed but Nora is not put off, she has plans and they include Ewan! Ewan can not believe his ears! Nora may be pretty but goodness she talks a lot!!! Still he finds himself drawn to her even though she is everything he has promised to stay away from! Still he can't stop the feelings that are pounding away at him. Eventually they both quit fighting the attraction and fall in love. Of course this does not mean the end of the tale someone is out to keep them apart but why???? This was a great story! Nora is a sweet breath of fresh air, and Ewan is the tortured but yummy hero! This is a light read and fun. This is a great series and you won't want to miss out on it!!!
Rating: Summary: 10 plus stars - Read this Series!!!! Review: If you never read a series, read this one, AND READ IT IN ORDER!! Kinley is sensational and truly the best author ever. All of the characters are outstanding - REAL MEN, and the women are strong minded, not weak and submissive. I can not wait until the next book comes out. I am looking forward to learning about Kieren and meeting Lochlan's bride to be. PLEASE hurry and publish them!

Book 3: Born in Sin
Book 4. Midsummer's Knight (Where's My Hero?, Anthology)
Book 5: TAMING THE SCOTSMAN
half-way through this one & LOVING IT!!!
Rating: Summary: A flawed but still OK read Review: Is it just me or is this series going downhill? I truly enjoyed CLAIMING THE HIGHLANDER. BORN IN SIN was also enjoyable despite its heavy-handed use of the "tortured hero" (I mean really, could a person have had such a pathetic life?). And now we have another pathetic but lovable hero in Ewan who refuses to absolve himself of his guilt over the death of his brother Kieran. His self-flagellation got real old real fast. The thing that salvages this story is our heroine Nora. She's the typical MacGregor heroine - spunky, smart, sassy and beautiful. Nora has come to Ewan to ask for his escort to England to escape a marriage she does not want - a situation eerily similar to what led to Kieran's suicide and an ugly clan war. Ewan reluctantly helps Nora and in the course of things falls for her knowing that he does not deserve her or any happiness (urgh!). So there you have the basic premise. Nora loves Ewan, he loves her but feels he cannot have her, blah, blah, blah. I notice that Ms MacGregor/Kenyon has felt the need to defend this book as well as her historical accuracy and credentials (see her review). I must say that I've also always found her dialog and overall tone to be more contemporary than reflective of whatever time period she's writing about. I'm not taking issue with historical accuracy, but with the lack of subtlety and depth in Ewan's character and in the rather thin plotting of this story. I've always thought of the author's books as kind of the comics of historical romance (fun but not to be taken too seriously) but lately I think she's trying too hard for the tortured hero (with all the subtlety of a sledgehammer). She does much better with lighter, less overtly tortured, sexy heroes like Braden from CLAIMING THE HIGHLANDER, Draven and Simon from MASTER OF DESIRE and her pirates Jack (MASTER OF SEDUCTION) and Morgan (A PIRATE OF HER OWN). Or perhaps she's simply spreading herself too thin and losing her focus what with the new Brotherhood of the Sword medieval series and the Sex Camp series of contemporaries, not to mention her other works under Sherrilyn Kenyon. I'm in agreement with Kate Garrabrant - an OK read with a nice, steamy romance that will frustrate the more finicky, but if you're a diehard fan, you'll likely love it. I will likely continue reading the rest in the MacAllister series and may even check out the Brotherhood books (at least Stryder's story) hoping that Ms MacGregor will return to the easier, breezier style of her earlier books. She does humour so much better than angst! Flawed but enjoyable.
Rating: Summary: Bit of fluff Review: Is it just me? With each succeeding book, Kinley MacGregor/Sherilyn Kenyon's writing skills seem to be dwindling. I enjoyed the first book of this series (and enjoyed her first Dark Hunter: Fantasy Lover, too), but with this book (and with the Dark Hunter book, Night Embrace) I could barely read a page without finding something juvenile or anachronistic that pulled me right back out. It seemed to be written quickly, and doesn't stand up to previous books in the series in content or flow. This story is slightly amusing (I enjoyed the heroine - her quirky talkativeness was fresh and fun), and readers who are following this series will want to read it just to keep up with the family, but I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone looking for a well-crafted story.
Rating: Summary: Another cheesy yet enjoyable MacAllister family novel Review: Kinley Macgregor returns with another MacAllister novel, featuring Ewan, as always still tormenting over causing his brother Kieran's death years ago. He has such guilt and angst over it because he stole his brother's love... of course this is the 3rd story of this series so I recommend reading the other two books before this so you know why Ewan is the way he is. For those who are fans of Macgregor, you know what to expect... this series can be cheesy at times and the language and situations are too modern and not historically acurate, but if the reader lets that go, then they are in for an enjoyable ride. Nora, comes to Ewan basically because she doesn't want to marry her hideous fiance' and feels Ewan is the only man for the job because he is scary and no one would mess with a MacAllister. Nora and Ewan embark on quite an adventure with kidnapping gypsies, enemies galore and a passion Ewan can't deny for Nora. Nora is spunky, talks way too much and gets under Ewan's skin. Ewan is way too tormented over his brother's death to the point of annoyance. The romance is steamy and overall the story is very hard to believe. Some will want to throw the book against the wall, others will laugh out loud through Nora and Ewan's antics. Also a mystery that has plagued the MacAllister family maybe solved. If you like cheese, fluff and of course those steamy love scenes, check this one out. By: Katiebabs@aol.com
Rating: Summary: A Great Escape Review: Maybe it's just me, but I thought the whole idea behind romance (or any fiction for that matter) is to ENTERTAIN the reader. You know, ESCAPE FROM REALITY?! I LOVED THIS BOOK!! I have never written a review for any book, although I have read all of MacGregor's work and enjoyed every bit of it. I was stunned that she felt the need to defend herself. I don't criticize a book, even if I don't like it, because I lack the talent to do what these creative women (and men) do. This book, like all of the MacAllister books, has given me two days escape from cooking, cleaning, working, carting my kid around, ironing, bill paying, etc., etc. A good glass of wine and a good bit of entertainment is what I need. Keep up the GREAT work, Ms. MacGregor. For every one who criticizes, there are 500 or so of us who appreciate the escape.
Rating: Summary: This book is great and people not educated in history.... Review: shouln't spout off at the mouth. MacGregor knows what she's about, heck she's paid the money for it! This book is a great addition to the series and anyone that is a true MacGregor/Kenyon fan will know this. Thanks.
