Summary: a marvelous keeper
Review: "Then came you" by Lisa Kleypas is a lighthearted love story. The storyline is made of a wonderful mixture of suspense mystery and romance. Although this book features the famous "dislike at first sight" theme but Ms.Kleypas made it different. The hero and the heroine don't seem to like each other when they first met because of Lily's extraordinary characteristics. As the story goes, they falls in love with each other. I like the way that Lord Alex accepts Lily just the way she is. He loves her despite the fact that she has a cloud of dark secret (about her stolen baby) surrounding her. The characters are so likeable that I can't wait to read the sequel -- "Dreaming of you" which has Derek Craven as the hero. Bravo Ms.Kleypas

Summary: Not one of my favorites !!!
Review: ...this book is not a keeper, far from it!!! The characters are anything but believeable, the dialogue is silly, and the plot "GIVE ME A BREAK!" YUCK! Would the real Lisa Kleypas please STAND UP !!! This silly book is not without some merit at least the cover is nice !!!

Summary: What a Terrific Read!!!
Review: Alex and Lily's story was fantastic! I loved it! Lily was very independent and head-strong and Alex was absolutely yummy!! I can't wait to read Derek Craven's story. I would, however, like to see a story with Lily's daughter, Nicole, and Alex's brother, Henry. So maybe one day Ms. Kleypas will finish this charming series with a story for Nicole and Henry.

Summary: Great, but feels a little rushed?
Review: As my second introduction to Ms. Kleypas' writing, "Then Came You" is a good stepping stone. The characters are nicely developed yet they are flawed. They're endearing characters even though I couldn't really relate to them as much as I would have liked. I enjoy Ms. Kleypas' sense of humor as well as her touch of dramatics.

However, I can't help but feel that the character's relationship feels.. "rushed". It's not quite as sudden as "love at first sight, let's get married tonight", but it seems like the a whirlwind romance. The main characters are headstrong and stubborn.. and they go through long means to make sure the other understands that. Yet... the reasons for bringing them together intimately and sexually seems... weak. I sympathized with Derek Craven and wished that he really got the better end of the stick. (and he did in "Dreaming of You"!!!! *cheer!*)

Although I felt that the initial attraction could have been a little deeper, this was really a great read! It fills you with warm fuzzies and entertains!

Summary: Not as god as the sequel!
Review: Having read this book's sequel, DREAMING OF YOU, I fully expected to love THEN CAME YOU. However, I am glad that I read the second book first for had I not, I probably never would have bothered to pick up DREAMING OF YOU. Here are the problems that I just couldn't get passed in this book: 1.) How is it that Derek Craven (being the richest, most powerful man in England) couldn't find the daughter? 2.) Why didn't Lily borrow the money from her family? I also had trouble believing that Derek wouldn't have lent the money to Lily. It seems like to much of this plot was contrived.

Summary: Incredible book!
Review: I am a big Klepas fan. This book did not disappoint. I loved the Lily Lawson character and Alex was a perfect counterpart for her. As fearless and uninhibited as she was, he was conservative and reserved. They were perfect together.

As with any Klepas novel, I thought the love scenes could have been a bit more original and definitely steamier. But they are decent and definitely hold a reader's attention.

I wish we could have found out how Derek and Lily became friends. I'm glad Derek finds his match in the sequel to this book.

I highly recommend this book!

Summary: Then Came You
Review: I cannot believe these reviews. I bought this book because of them, I was a little more than disappointed. I love a tortured hero. THe plot had alot of possiblitlies. It was simply the writing. Absolutely elementary level. I'm so sorry but others purchasing this book deserve to know. I gave her 2 stars for getting published. That was truly an accomplishment.

Summary: Barrel scraping
Review: I gave this book one star only because there was no option for giving it zero. By page 83 I hated it but I kept plowing on hoping the book would redeem itself eventually. At page 151 it went into the garbage. Why do so few authors know how to create a heroine who is assertive without falling into a morass of obnoxious? She's supposed to be spirited not an overweening shrew. The reader should admire her not want to pour her into a pair of cement overshoes and dump her worthless fanny, regardless of how attractive, into the Thames. Lily Lawson is not a sympathetic character; she's a harridan. No more Lisa Kleypas for me.
