Summary: Liz Carlyle Triumphs Again
Review: We have known Bentley since Beauty Like the Night. He is a lovable rogue that can't seem to stay out of trouble. He is wonderful with child and animals, he just can get along with his brother. He has a terrible secret that is eating away at him and it takes Freddie to force him to come to terms with it.

Freddie is the child of a great love, but her father died before he could marry her mother. Her mother died when she was very young. Her father's men take her to England to her only family the Countess of Trent but the Countess doesn't want a bastard child so the men take her to Evie, from A Women of Virtue, who raises her. Freddie thinks that she is a failure on the marriage mart and heartbroken when her finance drops her because of family duty. Who should she meet on this diastrous night, but Bentley.

They are both attracted to each other and one thing leads to another and Freddie finds herself expecting. Bentley finds out and becomes determined to keep his child. They decide to get married for a six month trial period.

What happens next will test the bountries of their love and the love of Bentley's family. This books brings back most of the characters from the previous books. As usual Ms Carlyle spins a tale of wit, laughter and tears. It is a must read.

Summary: Unforgettable, haunting core story . Beyond typical romances
Review: We've all read hundreds of romances where the couples' conflict is based upon the usual insignificant ideas: petty pride and stubbornness, differences in social class, etc... This story breaks that mold.

Bently Rutledge is known for being irresponsible and for enjoying fast women. However, he is not the typical rake. He drowns himself in drinking and other reckless behaviors in an effort to forget. There is a demon from his past that has left him ridden with guilt, anger, loneliness, and a deep resentment towards his older brother. This is a demon that destroyed his innocence as a boy. It is a demon that many readers will identify with. Real and soul wrenching, Bently has buried it deep inside.

Frederica (Freddie) has been raised by her relatives, after her unwed parents died. She believes that no honorable man will ever ask for her hand. She decides to quit saving her virtue for a marriage she will never get to have. Bently has been her friend for years. She decides he is the one she will give herself to. She coaxes Bently past his limits of restraint. They share a night that will change their lives forever.

Freddie knows there is something dark that threatens her relationship with Bently. He has nightmares that cause him to act out violently in his sleep. Determined to save her husband from his self- destruction, she searches for answers. She finds far more than she was expecting. She urges Bently to talk to his brother. However, she soon finds that there is an even darker twist that tore Bently's soul from him as a child.

When the truth comes out, Bently believes his family will turn him away for good. To his surprise, he is supported and comforted. His soul is finally free.

Liz Carlyle writes the significant memories from Bently's childhood in a very real and heart- churning fashion. Bently's character is so believable, you almost feel that you are sharing his pain. Excellent writing.

Aside from the dark secrets, this book boasts a terrific love story. Romance that shows Bently's true desire to make Freddie happy, affection that tells the reader how precious his unborn child is to him, love scenes that set the reader's blood to boiling. The story continues to slowly unfold, without side topics that pull away from the main couple.

The main couple is very believable. Freddie is young and impulsive, as 18 year olds truly tend to be. When she finds a "naughty" book, she decides to try some of the things she saw in the book. Bently is in for a big surprise.
Bently has a reputation, but those who know him personally are aware that he has a genuinely good heart. He has spent his life searching for unconditional love and acceptance. By the end of the book, you will want to be the one to offer it to him.

My one complaint was the fact that Carlyle mentions far too many outside character's names and relations. They are mentioned only fleetingly, but it did leave me confused. These people never became a real part of the story, so mentioning them was unnecessary. Still, a 5 star read because of originality, great love scenes, powerful characters, and a core story that reaches beyond the typical romance.

Summary: Liz Carlyle is amazing!
Review: When I realized that Liz Carlyle had a new book coming out, I couldn't wait! As an avid romance reader, I've read hundreds of books over the years in the romance genre and Liz has definitely got to be one the best! There's something about her books...The humor, the snappy dialogue, the emotions, the tortured characters, the passion, the SEX. Her books just have it all! I must admit that I was dying to read what Liz had in store for the "love him and hate him" Hell-Bent Rutledge. After reading about his scandalous escapades in her other novels, I was always left wondering what would happen to the old boy. I'm about 3/4 of the way through Bentley's story right now. And while it is not my favorite of her novels (A Woman of Virtue is my fav), I still give it 5 stars because it is a cut above most other novels of that time and genre. I bought the book yesterday and I'm trying not to finish it too soon because I know it will be a while 'til Liz can churn out another story. I won't go into details and ruin the book for you, but the characters are great and you just can't help but love Bentley despite his faults. Run to the store and buy this one!

Summary: or the devil you don't know...
Review: When Miss Frederica (Freddie) d'Avillez is thrown over by her long time love, she is convinced that she'll never be able to marry. So she then decides that if she's going to spend the rest of her life on the shelf she should at least have just one night of complete passion.

Enter in Mr. Bentley "Hell-Bent" Rutledge, who is a complete rogue, scoundral, rake, and heart-breaker. He's known Freddie for years and lately can't help but notice how she's grown into such a beautiful woman. So of course when she presents such an opportunity to him how could he possibly resist?

But then as a result of their one night, something is made, and Bendley is honor bound to marry Freddie. Which might not be so bad after all. They get along very well, have a passion for each other that not even he has experienced before, and the baby is very exciting. However, Bentley has quite a few secrets from his past that he's not willing to tell Freddie and they could tear their marriage apart. So will Freddie be able to help Bentley with his problems and fix the family rift????

Over all this was a pretty good book. The characters were well thought out and the reader could feel what they were feeling. The plot was Excellent! Not as much adventure as I would have thought but still VERY good. I highly recommend this book to everybody. It's well worth the read!
