Rating: Summary: Howard just gets better and better Review: This is one of her best. I could not put it down. The characters were so strong and so well drawn I felt as if I knew them. Worth every penny!
Rating: Summary: Wasn't able to put it down to the last line. Review: Linda Howard is one of my favourite authors since the first book of hers I read. She combines suspence and romance to create characters that you love and books you won't put down till the last line. I have been gradually collection every book of hers I can and I have never been dissapointed yet.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful... Review: I think this book was wonderful. It's almost as good as Kill and Tell which is my favourite romance novel. There are some things in this book that I do not like. The first time I read it I would have given it five stars. But now, I can't really put my finger on it but I don't like it as much as before. Maybe because the element of surprise is taken away. Or maybe it is because of Gray's sister. I really don't like her at all. She isn't very normal. I get mad because she doesn't speak up until in the end of the book. Otherwise, I just love it. Faith and Gray are just perfect for eachother and LH describes it very well.
Rating: Summary: Sexy, Sizzle, and Sensual Review: I was sitting in an airport in Miami on an extended layover when I decided I needed something to read. I'm not sure what I expected when I started this book, but this wasn't it. I had never read a Linda Howard book before but that back cover looked interesting, so why not? Well, I have become a very big fan of Ms. Howard and read everything she writes now. From the very first pages, I was hooked. She created a world so very different from any community I have ever seen.(I mean, how many of us come from home towns that are controlled by one family?) I also felt Faith's humiliation, fear and anger at being a "Devlin". The sparks fly and the story builds and I couldn't put the book down. You could see them fighting the fire with sharp tongues but at the same time you can see the tenderness they feel for each other. My only complaint was how fast the book ended. The last chapter was funny and sweet, but it felt rushed. I really wanted some of the things that weren't said, said. With Gray's "playboy" history, I personally would of wanted something more then I-love-you-let's-have-a-baby-get-married rush. Maybe it's just me, but a final chapter where he tells her why he loves her and that its more then just lust and that he won't treat their marriage like his father treated his marriage would have made it seem more "forever".
Rating: Summary: HER BEST BOOK EVER - My #1 Favorite Review: This is by far the best book I have ever read. I stayed up just to finish it, and then re-read it 2 days later. This exotic and erotic book was a great pick me up, along with the mystery - made it my all time favorite book!! I won't loan this book to ANYONE! I'll have to buy an extra copy just to pass along to friends. Want more books like this!! Thanks Linda, it was just what I needed. I LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Great! Up to her usual high quality Review: I was disappointed that you put a lengthy tirade against this book at the beginning of what are a series of great reviews. I read everything Linda Howard writes and the language used is real life along with the strong emotions of desire, love and hate. Linda Howard always makes her people human, i.e. Gray's fear of haircuts! I say, Linda, keep up this winning style.
Rating: Summary: A BOOK THAT WILL KEEP YOU UP THROUGH THE NIGHT! Review: This isn't the first book I've read and it won't be the last! This is a hot book with breathless sensuality! Faith is a strong woman that does what she wants, and won't be bullied. Gray is a strong man who wants it all. Laugh and cry with them as you read this book. You WON'T be disapointed
Rating: Summary: Long time reader Review: I think I have read everything Linda Howard has written since I first read McKenzie's Mountain back in the '80s. I think THAT book is one of the all time greatest romances ever written. Wolf is strong, unselfish, caring and protective.I must admit that I will have to part ways with Ms. Howard if she continues on her present path. I do not care for books in which the woman is spoken to in a crude and abusive manner. Nor do I care for a "hero" who isn't a hero, but a man determined to have his way - even if it's at the heroine's expense! That's love???? I have to admit to being surprised that no one else has objected to the sexual abuse of Gray's sister. It may be realism, but there are some aspects of life in which I do not wish to visit or dwell. This is one of them. The other is incest, which she portrayed in another book. I am about to the end of giving her chances. I do not think the "F" word is sexy!! To me, it is a word which means I am going to get what I want from you at your expense! It shows NOTHING of caring. It's not a shared experience, it's just short of rape! When that shows up in the conversation, I close the book and walk away. Why would I wish to read use and abuse??? I gave this a 3 because Ms. Howard is a very gifted writer. She has, in the past, written some of the most, if not the most, exquisite romances on paper. I do not understand the current path she is taking. If it's mainstream or suspense you want, then publish it as that and not as romance. I understand authors want to "grow" in their writing. This isn't growth. It's sinking to exploring things in society which we should be working on to REMOVE - abuse - NOT dwell on and explore! Those of us who reserved books of hers at our local bookstores to be sure to get the copies as they first came out are disappointed. My reader's group is confused. We read romance for the beauty of human relationships. [There must be mutual respect to HAVE a romantic relationship. Otherwise, one of them is just being used. What woman wants to be used for sex? No one wants to feel like JUST a body!] and for the development of that relationship into something which can grow. I cannot see a future for people between whom respect is missing. I know this is far different from the other reviews. I have been holding my opinion for some time now and for several books. It doesn't seem to be changing, so I posted my opinion. Ms. Howard, if you read this, please believe that I would purchase EVERY book of yours, [and have to date], if they were in keeping with McKenzie's Mountain, McKenzie's Pleasure, etc. I hopefully await Chance's story. But, if you continue on your present course, you will lose me and many other readers who are as confused as I and who feel the same way. We are hoping for a return to the marvels of your past writing.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Review: One of the best books I have ever read ,unputdownable, everyone should get a copy.
Rating: Summary: A Wonderful Read! Review: After the Night is one of my all time favorites. My favorite aspect of this novel was her use of extremely sensual descriptive language (smells and colors), which produced several memorable passages.
