Summary: Redheads Rise to Good-looking Rich Guys Standards
Review: This book is one of the best Meg Cabot books I have read in a while. Her main character, Mel Fuller, a redhead is a genuine girl who needs a boyfriend badly. Then one day, her luck changes, when her neighbor has to go to the hospital after getting attacked. And she has to take care of her pets until the neighbor's nephew comes. The neighbor's nephew comes but as a photographer Mel finds him a little odd. Soon though, they are spending a lot of time together, falling in love. Through the books e-mails you hear from a person named John Trent who's family and friends comment on the details of the novel. You also learn of the nephew, Max Friedlander's dirty little secret. Its a bit of romantic comedy mixed with mystery, that suits every teenage girl and any woman. Meg Cabot brings her winning Princess Diaries style to this wonderful beach book.

Summary: Great Read!!
Review: My roommate loaned me this book after she finished reading it. I have to admit that I was a little apprehensive at first but I'm so glad I got over that feeling. It had me hooked with the first few pages. I'm an avid reader and I can't wait to buy the next book written by Ms. Cabot...

Summary: Funny- 'Chic Lit' -Quick-read
Review: *I love author Meggin(Meg) Cabot and having read her Princess Diaries series, I thought I would try out something else by her. I read The Boy Next Door recently, while I was traveling and it is a great light, fun, quick-read that helps take the stress away. It is written in the form of e-mail(which gives it its fast pacing) and you get introduced to many characters through their e-mails (this gives the book a lot of dramatic irony because through the various e-mails you know certain important things that the charaters don't know).
*The Boy Next Door is the story of a young women, New York gossip columnist, Melissa Fuller. Her adventure starts when her elderly neighbor goes into a coma, as a result of being hit in the head and knocked-out in the living room of her apartment by an unknown person. When walking the neighbor's dog becomes too much for Melissa she sets of to find her neighbor's only family member, a bad-boy nephew-Max. Melissa contacts Max and he tells her he will come and take care of the dog. What Mel doesn't know is that he himself won't be coming, but instead a friend (John Trent)who owes him a favor. Of course Mel and John fall in love with in only problem being that Mel doesn't know who John is, thinking he is Max. This fact comes out and causes problems, but everything turns out okay as they work together to catch the person who left Mel neighbor in a coma.
*This book has an ordinary plot, one that's not really new or ground-breaking or anything. But the book is fun to read and entertaining, but predictable.
*Bottom Line-Read and enjoy, but don't accept anything too serious.

Summary: The Boy Next Door rules!!!!!!!
Review: The Boy Next Door focuses on the life of Melissa Fuller, a 27 year old journalist working at the New York Journal in Manhattan. Melissa's life is chronicled through emails written by her to coworkers, friends, her parents, and even some emails by characters who are not that relevant to the storyline but keep the story moving forward. Mel's life is turned upside down the day she finds her elderly neighbor unconscious in the apartment next door to her seemingly attacked by an unknown assailant. After her neighbor is put in the hospital, she must take over the dog walking duties for her neighbor until Mrs. Friedlander (the neighbor)'s nephew comes and moves in to look after the apartment. The only problem is, Max Friedlander is not who he seems to be... His real name is John Trent and he is a member of an affluent family of Manhattan and also happens to work for the New York Chronicle, the Journal's main rival. As John and Mel try to solve who attacked Mrs. Friedlander together and become closer than just plain "neighbors", John realizes he has fallen in love with Mel and she with him. The only problem is that Mel has fallen for a guy who is actually impersonating another guy! As John tries to summon the courage to tell Mel the truth about his identity, the reader is taken on an amusing journey through Mel's trials and tribulations in her emails.
I absolutely loved this book! I adore the Princess Diaries (another series written by Meg Cabot) and while this book is actually meant for a more mature audience, there isn't anything that is too bad in it... maybe one or two parts in the entire book, so it is worthwhile reading. It is just so funny and I couldn't put the book down! I read it in 6 hours!! My only complaint is that I sometimes got confused by who was writing to who and if the author had put dates in the email headings, it would have been much easier for the reader to identify the passage of time the book covers. Also, everyone seems to speak in the same voice, so it was a little confusing to know who was speaking... But other than that, it was a great book and I highly recommend it!

Summary: Absolutely Loved it!
Review: I'm fifteen. And, I was on a 8 hour drive (round trip) bored stiff. Without this book I think I would have died from boredom. The email-style format makes the book easy to read, as well as fun. If you read this (recomended!) read Boy Meets Girl as well. Both take place at the "New York Journal" but involve different people w/ different situations. Both are funny and charming!!! Enjoy!!

Summary: Entertainment tonight!
Review: The Boy Next Door is written by New York Times bestselling author, Meggin Cabot, who also wrote The Princess Diaries. In this book, Cabot replaces the traditional letter by e-mailing between characters throughout the whole book. There are no chapters in the book, but instead the book consists of series of e-mails that give new information about the characters every time.

In The Boy Next Door, Melissa Fuller is a redheaded reporter who serves for the gossip column on page 10 from The New York Journal, knowing that she could do better than a gossip columnist. During her plain and dull life living in an apartment in New York City, her 82 year-old next door neighbor, Mrs. Helen Friedlander, went into a coma (which Mel believed that it was caused by a ¡§so-called Transvestite Killer¡¨) and that was the start of the best part of her life. Although she has to help walk the neighbor¡¦s dog that threatens her job, after she found the neighbor¡¦s nephew, Maxwell Friedlander, to walk the dog, her career was saved temporarily; they also begin a romance. Just when Mel thought Max was the guy she wanted to marry, she found out about his true identity and who the real attacker of the ¡§brutal assault¡¨ of Mrs. Friedlander is.

Even though fiction novels seem unrealistic sometimes, events in The Boy Next Door could actually happen. The characters are well developed, and through the e-mailing process, it is an easier way to read. Since there are no chapters in this book, you don¡¦t know when to stop and it makes it impossible to keep track of time! This is a good entertainment book to put away all the stress from work with its humor between the characters and the romance between Mel and ¡§Max."

Summary: Wow...
Review: This story about Mel, a 27-year-old single woman is very well-written and full of humor and wit. When Mel meets John Trent disguised as Max Freidlander, she instantly falls in love. The only problem is, John's afraid to tell her his true identity.

I think that Meggin Cabot wrote this book very well and the plot is very intriguing. Written as a series of e-mails, this story also takes place in the offices of the New York Journal. I definately think that this book must be read by all.

Summary: I guess I read the wrong book first...
Review: I am struggling every day to get through this book. I guess I read the wrong book first. Meg Cabot's other book, Boy Meets Girl, was fun although it lacked character development. I read it in two days!

This book is very slow. I can not differentiate between the characters and am always getting lost as to who's talking/emailing/chatting. It seems like there is only one character throughout this book! I will hang in there and finish it, but let me tell you, it has been a drag so far!

Summary: Great book!
Review: I adored this book. It was funny, fresh, and entertaining. It is the very definition of CHICK LIT. Meggin Cabot is a talented writer. I loved all the characters in her book - except Max. You'll understand what I mean when you read it. The "boy and girl" that are trying to get together are so right for each other. I usually don't like a lot of romance in mainstream fiction, but this was the exception because it was so well done.
