Rating: Summary: awesome!!! Review: I thought this book was excellent! It was an easy read and the end was such a surprise. If the mixed reviews confuse you, I would read it just to enjoy a good book.
Rating: Summary: AWESOME!!!! A MUST READ!!!! Review: Great book with great characters. I look forward to Robert Redford and the screenplay. The movie will be a must see as well!!
Rating: Summary: sad failure Review: Although it has an auspicious beginning, and a few interesting things to say about horses, there is not a believable character in this big city bad, country good morality tale. I am no psychic, but I knew about how it would end half way through. For a far better view of life in Montana, read Ivan Doig's Dancing at the Rascal Fair instead of this predictable, unbelievable TV movie script.
Rating: Summary: I laughed, I cried, I loved it! Review: I am a 39 year old male, I was driving form Los Angeles to Las Vegas and took this book on tape to make the time travel faster. By the time I got to Baker I was in tears, and by the time I reached the state line I was rooting for Grace and her mother Anne. I finished the last two tapes on the trip home and cried again. I could'nt get out of my car to get gas because of my red eyes. I highly recommend the tape or book. Peter Coyote did a good job narrating. Gregg Burger
Rating: Summary: Disappointing book about sickness. Review: I enjoyed this book until the end. It closes too quickly as though the author grew tired of it in the end and just wanted to be done with it. It left me with a bitter taste and a genuine desire that I had never picked it up. For almost 90% of the book I was wondering why the person who gave it to me was not at all excited about it since I found it to be very interesting -- that is until toward the end. Now I know why my friend didn't think much of it.
Rating: Summary: Don't bother!!! Review: I am giving this a 2 because it starts out okay, then, boom!, it gets very bad. You can almost pick out the sentence he was writing when Hollywood came knocking. I'm so glad I was loaned this book and did not buy it. It robbed me of my time.
Rating: Summary: A truely, deep and touching book. Review: I can't beleive these people who gave this book anything less than 5 or 6! Obviously they have no taste. This is absolutely the best story that has ever been printed! Evans writes with compeling strength and wisdom that shines through in every character. Take no heed to the previous reviews that say this book is a waste of time, because it definately is not!
Rating: Summary: Loved it!! Review: This has to be one of the best books I've ever read. I had no interest when I read the back cover, but once I started I just couldn't put it down. I found the writing to be touching and the scenes perfectly described. I hope Evens puts out more books. I guess I enjoyed that he could give a woman's perspective with what seemed like flawless effort. I was truely moved.
Rating: Summary: " The Horse Whisperer" Review: "When you capture a horse, it struggles to be free;when a tragedy captures a human ,she/he struggles to get her/his life back!" In the "The Horse Whisperer",Nicholas Evans tells the victory of Grace and Pilgrim against life, and the victory of Tom and Annie against their emotions. Once upon a time there were "whisperers" who calmed down horses with a whisper.Tom Brooker was a man who has the ability of a "Whisperer".
Annie,a mother who understand that her daughter Grace's love of life depends on the recovery of a horse,Grace's horse, Pilgrim.
So Annie,Grace and Pilgrim go to Montana where their adventure of life and love starts.
While Grace and Pilgrim discovers the beauty of life again;a love grows between Tom and Annie. The style of Nicholas evans on picturing the enviroment, heros and their feelings make us more involved in the story.
As a result,I really love the story and the heros of the story:
I loved Annie because she's so strong and knows what to do,
I loved Tom because he knows the language of nature, especially horses,
And I loved Grace because she rediscovered the love of life in her soul and embraced the life tightly.
And the ending...All I can say is :
"This is life, sometimes make us laugh; sometimes make us cry!"
The right of this novel is bought by Robert Redford so:
I am looking forward to seeing this novel on the Big Screen!

Rating: Summary: Hard to put down Review: I felt compelled to write after reading so many of the bad reviews. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and had a hard time putting it down. Evan 's characterization of Grace and Annie is excellent. The only negative comment I have about the book is in regard to the two "quickie" love scenes. These love scenes are out of place and read as if they were written by a totally different author.
