Rating: Summary: wonderful, couldn't put it down Review: I work and got to school and when I had to read a book for english I choose this one. The characters are very interesting and I love horses. The way the horses were hurt was touching. The ending was very sad but this book was excellent.
Rating: Summary: A man who heals horses also has a talent, can help people to Review: I thought that it was a pretty good book. It kept me hooked and I didn't want to put it down. It showed that horses have feelings and a mind too. I am twelve years old, so I thought that the sexual areas were a little much. I didn't know that that would be a part of the book when I got it. I liked that everything was not perfect when the book ended. That isn't realistic. I think that it was worth the read.
Rating: Summary: predictable and boring Review: I read this book last summer, on the insistence of my mother and several friends. They thought it was wonderful, and I was nothing but disappointed. I found the book extremely predictable, and felt there was no depth to any of the characters. We all love books that we don't want to put down--I just wanted to get through this one because I don't like to start something and not finish it. Mr. Evans should stick to screenplays and describing the countryside of England--he did not conjure up in my mind any of Montana's beauty.
Rating: Summary: A girl strives to save her ill horse. Review: Grace loved her horse even though she wasn't too fond of the horse's name. One winter morning Grace and her friend, Judith, went on a trail ride. While on it they had to climb an icy hill. On the way up Judith and her horse fell. They slid down the hill and ran into Grace and her horse! Judith's foot was stuck in her stirrup, and a tractor trailer truck was coming right at them. There wasn't enough time for him to stop with the icy roads, and he ran into Judith. Grace's horse, Pilgrim, threw her off of him and the truck hit Pilgrim. It also took off part of Grace's leg. Soon after the group was found, Pilgrim ran off in fear, but he was found. He had damage done to his brain. His skin was all torn off. Grace's mother heard of a Horse Whisperer, a man who could understand and usually help horses. She decided to take Pilgrim and Grace to Montana to see him. She felt he could help them. His name was Tom Booker. Is Mr. Booker able to help Pilgrim get better and help Grace to ride him again? We liked this book a lot because we like horses. We think that horses are beautiful animals and have high spirits. We didn't like it at times because we felt really sad when Grace's best friend died. "He hit the brakes, but not too hard, for he knew that if he made things too sudden the wheels would lock, so he worked the trolley valve on the steering wheel, trying to get drag from the brakes at the back of the trailer." (Evans, page 23) By Kassia and Ashley
Rating: Summary: Evans' first book shows only a "whisper" of talent Review: The entire time I spent reading the Horse Whisperer, something seemed wrong, sort of unpolished, about the book. "It reads like a screenplay," I thought to myself. Imagine my lack of surprise when I read about Nicholas Evans on the book's back flap -- he is a writer of screenplays and this is his first stab at writing a novel. I found his writing terribly uninspired, predictable and trite. It's sole purpose seemed to be to spawn a similarly uninspired movie. If you enjoy reading the work of truly gifted writers, keep shopping.
Rating: Summary: 50 pages into the book I predicted the rest of the story Review: Can you say predictable? If this is a great book, the intelligence of the averages reader is declining fast!
Rating: Summary: it was great Review: i really enjoyed the horse whisperer it was a bit sad but it was a great story .so if you haven't read it yet buy it and start reading
Rating: Summary: A girls' tragic accident changes her family's lives forever. Review: I thought that the novel The Horse Whisperer was a wonderful book! I especially liked the way that the characters in the story were so well developed. You could really tell what they were feeling. The plot of the story was also very well developed. It was easy to understand because of all of the details that the author included. Overall, the story is easy to explain. It's about a woman named Annie Graves. Her daughter Grace owns a beautiful Morgan horse named Pilgrim. One day when Grace and her best friend go out riding, they get into a horrible accident. Both Pilgrim and Grace were very badly injured. As a result of the accident, Pilgrim has been driven mad and no one is able to get near him without the horse first being sedated. Distraught over what to do, Annie calls up a horse whisperer named Tom Booker. She puts Pilgrim in a trailer and takes him and Grace all the way to Montana, where Tom lives. I'll leave the rest for you to read. I highly recommend this book! I thought it was an excellent read, but it is quite adult in some parts. If you really love horses and romance, you'll love this book!
Rating: Summary: COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN Review: This book is absolutely a must. It is written in such great detail and the characters are very real, in a sense. I seen an advertisement for it in my Horse & Rider magazine and had to have it.
