Rating: Summary: Wow! Review: I have never bothered to review a book before, but this book was amazing! Ms. Moning has managed to capture fantasy with the most down to earth heroes and dastardly villains. So often when I read this genre my reaction ends up "enough already". Not so this time. Her style of writing is distinct and eloquent. This book has Gabaldon's "Outlander" beat hands down. The only problem I can think of is that I read a lot faster than she writes and I'm going to be very impatient waiting for her next work. I think that Ms. Moning is a very bright new star on the horizon!
Rating: Summary: Tons of fun from start to finish. Review: When I read a romance, I like a story that grabs me and won't let go. I like characters that make me cry, squirm, and bust out laughing. I like an ending that renews my faith in life and love. In Beyond The Highland Mist I found all of this and more with witty dialogue, genuine characters and a story that grabbed me by the end of chapter one. I wish I could have lived in this book to see the action unfold firsthand, but Moning's telling of the story is the next best thing. Karen Marie Moning is an author I plan to follow for as long as she'll keep writing!
Rating: Summary: If such a man existed............ Review: From the moment I picked up this book I knew I was in trouble. I couldn't put it down, I became spellbound by the lives and trials of these two characters. When I wasn't able to read the book I found myself daydreaming of what it would be like to encounter a man like the Hawk. To be that gallant, beautiful, and dedicated is hard find in a man, especially one that would fight the unknown to save his "love." If you've ever believed in true love and it conquering over all, then open the pages of this book now!
Rating: Summary: ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL! Review: Great book especially for her first. I can't wait for the next!
Rating: Summary: I couldn't put this book down until I finished it!! Review: Beyond the Highland Mist is a terrific book, and one you won't be able to put down until you're finished reading it. Not only is the writing itself lovely, with beautiful turns of phrase, but the story draws you completely in. I thought the hero was particularly "to die for!" I think this is a must buy.
Rating: Summary: couldn't suspend disbelief Review: Okay, I liked the idea of this book. I even liked the idea of the wounded heroine who had to relearn trust. But I found it annoying that the author repeated the "almost together...no wait...go away" scene several times more often than necessary. And I also found it grating that the hero was consistently referred to as "the Hawk." Like "the statue" or "the giant." I mean, what mother calls her son "the Hawk?!" And some of the language was jarring and out of place...e.g. "enormous cock." I just couldn't get over that one! I did like some of the conversations between Hawk and Adam though...nice writing there. All in all, this book was a disappointment. I'd read the great reviews, and bought it because of a personal recommendation. But I'll sell it to a used book store with no qualms. It was a frustrating read.
Rating: Summary: Rest well before you start... Review: I found this book to be well written. I used to loathe reading growing up and only started one year ago to this date. I have since read over 250 books. My schedule is a very hectic one and to stay up through the wee hours of the morning to read can be very unsettling when you hope for a great story and end up disappointed. I was not disappointed with this story at all. One could even say I enjoyed the villain Adam. He was definitely someone you could hate. The main characters, The Legendary Hawk (Big Beautiful man) and Adrienne de Simone--one who hates beautiful men--light the skies with more firework than I think the millinium will hold. I think this was a great book. Enjoy. I wonder if Grimm will have his own story soon?
Rating: Summary: I couldn't stop reading..! Review: I was at a bookstore browsing among the latest titles when I stumbled upon 'Beyond the Highland Mist'. I sat down and read the summary on the back, it seemed interesting and I had time to spare, so I started reading page one too.. Many hours later I finished the book and purchased it. Definately a must read, but beware.. no work will get done..! P.S., I highly recommend this book to be read where you won't be bothered and have pesky bookstore clerks interrupting you! *a-hem* excuse me miss but you're not allowed to read while... yadda yadda yadda...
Rating: Summary: Best Romance I've Read Review: This time-travel romance has it all: malignant faeries, a handsome and sensitive hero, a 90's heroine, and medieval Scotland. I heartily recommend it!
Rating: Summary: Beyond my highest expectations! Review: It has been a long time since I have read a book that I could not put down. The combination of power, romance, and satire in the story line created a perfect mix. I anticipated the time I would have to continue reading and looked forward to being on a plane where I could read uninterrupted for hours. I thought about Hawk and Adrienne for days after I finished reading. I can not wait for Karen Moning's next book to be released!
