Rating: Summary: Adam Black. woohoo!!! Review: I swear it , this is the best romance novel I've ever read. I loved everything about it. The time-travel, the fairies, and especailly the way Hawk and Adam Black kept fighting over Adrienne. Adam was dark and mysterious and I think I fell in love with him just as much a I enjoyed reading about Hawk. There are some unexpected surprises in this book and when I finished reading it, I wanted MORE! I didn't want the book to end, it was so good. I will definatley be getting all of Karen's other books now cause I'm totally hooked.
Rating: Summary: Could have been better... Review: This book had good parts and not so good parts. While the time travel, time continuum theory is hazily plausible in an unreachable sort of way, the belief in fairies as real beings just isn't...sorry. The story was great at times and the chemistry between the hero and heroine strong, their love touching...but the villain being a chief fairy in the fairy realm, just kinda killed for me. If it had been labeled as a "fantasy romance" that would have set thing straight from the start and that is what I would have expected. But since it is called a historical romance set mostly in old Scotland, I expected a highland romance, which would have been fine. The hero was yummy and endearing at times, strong and protective...but he annoyed me at times because he liked to lick the heroine just a little too much...just kiss her already! He's not a dog! The ending was rather weak since if it weren't for the fairies in the story, the real humans in the story would not have lived to have a happy ending. This one belongs with the fantasy romances.
Rating: Summary: very good Review: I've read "kiss of the highlander" first and loved it so much. I've ordered all the books by this author! I really like this one too. but a big minus for the cover, I really don't like halfnaked people on the front of the book... I have to admit that I fell in love with the cover for "kiss of the highlander" and "the highlander's touch". That's why I bought them and I'm really not at all diappointed. the stories are great. Especially if you like fantasy, romance, fairy tales! I love the characters but mostly I'm curious about Adam Black and I hope to read a book about him!
Rating: Summary: always a good read Review: As always, Ms. Moning provides the unbelievable into a delightful read. Romantic, enchanting and full of spunk it what this book is. I really enjoyed it and wanna know....where can I get me a "Hawk". yummy
Rating: Summary: Beyond the Highland Mist Review: I really liked this book. I thought that both the hero and heroine were both strong characters. I loved the way Adrienne just fell back in time. Plus she likes cats so thats a definate plus. The character of Adam, even though he was a troublesome cad, maked the struggle of the hero to admit his love all the sweeter. I liked the hero's friend Grimm and look forward to reading his story. I would definately recommend this book. It kept me up till 3am finishing it!
Rating: Summary: A Nice Read Review: I did enjoy this book, despite the rather odd use of fairies and magic, which, even in the historical romance genre, is not real. The time travel theme is intriquing, but the use of the fae is even more far-out. Moning is a talented author, however, and breathes vivid life into her characters. You can visualize their expressions and emotions, and feel their love for each other. The hero is a very powerful yet tender, brave, man. The kind of guy you wish you could find. But, alas, this is romance and all heroes end up as the ideal man, even if they don't exist in real life. I feel this book should have been listed under paranormal romance or fantasy romance, if not time-travel. While the heroine goes back to a historical time period, it's not accurate to say this book is a historical. Quite romantic, yes. If you like fantasy and romance you will like this book.
Rating: Summary: Outstanding Author Review: I was reluctant at first to try this book, thought it might be corney. I loved absolutely everything about it. It was romantic, humorous, a tear jerker, and a suspense all in one. It was absoultely wonderfull! I've read all three of her published books, more than once, as well as passed them to family members and friends, and none of us were dissapointed. I love Karen's work, she is truly unique! She moves me. It pains me to have to wait for her next book.
Rating: Summary: FOUR PLUS PLUS STARS! Review: A highly entertaining novel by a writer new to me. The plot was well done, the writing quite good and the characters real. It takes real talent for a writer to blend the hearts of a 20th century woman and a 16th century man. The differences in social culture were convincing, although I wondered if Lydia, the hero's mother, might have done a little time travelling herself - so modern were her sensibilities. Adam was a unredeemed villain, an evil being without a soul. He made an interesting contrast to the gorgeous Hawk who, after all, just wanted to medieval castle husband. I'll read more by this author.
Rating: Summary: The Highland Mist Review: This book was wonderful....Why can't i find a Hawk...If you love romance, scotland, and the highlands, this book is for you. I love reading about the clothes they wore, and the way they spoke. The research was great, and the faeries an added bonus. I can't wait to read it again.
Rating: Summary: Not Diane Gabaldon Review: I had read a review that indicated that this series of books was similar to those of Diane Gabaldon so I bought them since Diane won't have a new book out for a while. Unfortunately, the quality was nowhere close. I don't read romance novels, and even though Gabaldon's books are found in the 'romance' section of a book store, the 'Dragonfly In Amber' and the others in the series are more historically-based, well-researched and well-written. I read the first one by Moning then drove to the local library and dropped off all three without reading the other 2.
