Rating: Summary: A Definite Keeper Review: I finished reading An Accidental Goddess on Tuesday, and the book was so amazing and stayed with me in such an all-consuming manner, I had to go back and reread it on Thursday. I think that's what I love about Linnea Sinclair aka Megan Sybil Baker's stories-the characters are so beautifully drawn they take up a space in your head and your heart and there they stay. I would recommend An Accidental Goddess to any fan of s/f or romance or even the reader in search of a rip-snorting space-cowboy adventure. This book will definitely stay in my TBRA&A pile: to be read again and again.
Rating: Summary: A little Fantasy + a little SF + a bit of romance=Great fun! Review: I just recently discovered Megan Sybil Baker/Linnea Sinclair's books, and they are all fantastic. Still, I think this is my favorite of them all so far!Gilliane Devre is the Kiasidera, a sorceress whose mageline has been dedicated to watching over and aiding the Khalar people for thousands of years. Gillie was involved in a space battle with enemy wizards, and when she destroyed them, she and her sentient crystal ship got thrown in a time warp forward 340 years. When the sassy, down-to-earth Captain awakens, she is horrified to learn that the Khalar people now worship her as a Goddess! She tries to hide her identity and fit in, clashing several times with the handsome Admiral Rhynan Makarian, who has suspicions that she is a smuggler. Complications ensue--sparks fly between Rhynan and Gillie, treacherous plots are uncovered, and ships clash in space, as Gillie again finds herself nearly sacrificing everything to fulfill her role as protectress of the Khalar people. This books has a fascinating mix of SF and Fantasy elements, and has more than enough action to please any SF fan. The characters come alive on the page, which seems to be true of all her books. This lady really knows how to create memorable characters. This was just an incredibly fun book to read! A note: While this is technically a sequel to Wintertide, it stands alone nicely. I did enjoy the "historical" references to events that happened in Wintertide. Reading it first is not necessary, but it would enhance your reading experience. Plus I know that once you read any of her books, you will want to read them all!
Rating: Summary: I was really impressed by "Accidental Goddess"! Review: I was really impressed with Ms. Baker's science fiction work, especially since she was able to create a believable and entertaining, even to us guys, romantic angle into the fantastic story. I will definitely add this to such science fiction and cyberpunk books as "Foundation", "Stranger in a Strange Land", "Neuromancer", "Snow Crash", "Cryptonomicon", and "Darkeye: Cyber Hunter". All are a definite must-read.
Rating: Summary: A GREAT story! Review: It's not often that I pay such a high price for a romance book, but this one came highly recommended so I forked over the bucks. I certainly don't regret it...Ms. Baker has got a flair for story-telling! An Accidental Goddess is a classic and a "real keeper" for those who enjoy this romantic sci-fi genre. The banter between Gillian and her sentient spaceship is hysterical!

Rating: Summary: All are good, but this is the best------ Review: The plot and characters are tightly woven and interesting. I also thought that, though the romance was definitely there, it was part of the whole, with the action and fantasy moving forward. Of all her books (under any name), this is my favorite. So, when is the next one? PS Why are they so expensive?
Rating: Summary: exciting science fiction fantasy with a dab of romance Review: The Raheiran forces win the battle against the Fav'lhir that saves the Kahlaran. However, during the fight, the explosion of an enemy ship near her vessel apparently killed Raheiran Special Forces Captain Gillaine Davre and her sentient ship SIMON. Three hundred and forty-two years later, Gillaine surfaces but cannot explain how or why. Because she was a hero in the great battle, over time her role grew and changed into one whom died divinely so that the Kahlaran remade her into a Goddess with her own temple. Shocked beyond belief, Gillaine wants to tell the truth that the enemy explosion propelled her through a time warp, what really occurred at the decisive battle, and how mortal she is, but quickly realizes how fragile the Kahlaran remains. Admiral Rynan Makarian finds himself quite attracted to Gillaine and quickly concludes she is his soulmate. Though she feels the same, she fears the consequences to her worshippers of acting on her heart's desires. However, history seems to be repeating itself as a threat from space is nearing leading Gillaine to wonder if a higher purpose sent her through time to complete the job. AN ACCIDENTAL GODDESS is an exciting science fiction fantasy with a delightful dab of romance that readers of all three genres will agree is a clever action-packed conjoining of elements that make for quite a terrific time for the audience regardless of classification preference. The lead protagonists are intrepid and caring individuals who understand their duty yet find a love that transcends the ages leading to the audience seeking other works by Megan Sybil Baker (see the prequel, WINTERTIDE). Rating: Summary: Accidental Goddess Review: This book is fantastic...however, if you're thinking of buying it, be sure NOT to buy the downloadable version--the microsoft reader software is buggy, hard to use, and all-in-all frustrating. In fact, it's terrible. Amazon should really consider the downloadable version in Adobe, like many of their other excellent titles. A good read, though. Too bad that I couldn't carry it around with me in my pocket pc...now I have to lug the book around. Ah well.
Rating: Summary: Alot of Fun Review: This was my first book by Linnea Sinclair, or Megan Sybil Baker. I found this author on one of the "My favorite" recommendation pages, and also ordered Finders Keepers at the same time. I enjoyed both, the writing was strong, kept me interested. If you enjoy sci-fi with romance, this author's for you. Only shame is that both books are a bit pricey for paperback... but that didn't stop me from ordering more by this author!
Rating: Summary: Worth every penny I paid for it! Review: Well, it's the wee hours of the morning *yawn* and I just finished An Accidental Goddess. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and just have to write a review! I stayed up all night/early morning to read this book from front to back. I could not put it down! It has it all: Love and a beautiful romance, humour and witty dialogue, old rivalries and combat, mystery, treachery, and closely guarded secrets. You'll also get to meet the honorable and dashing Admiral Rynan Makarian, Simon the wisecracking sentient crystalship, and Captain Gillaine Davre of the Raheiran Special Forces and a very rare "Witch" who, through a accident in Riftspace, has found herself hurled three hundred and forty-two years into the future, and isn't exactly thrilled to find out that she is now worshipped as a Goddess! There is also a very exciting and unexpected turn of events at the end! I have to say that the weaving of magic with science and technology was brilliantly done! It also made the story unique and refreshing, not to mention it added a high level of excitement, tension, and awe to the experience. If you like Sharon Lee & Steve Millers "Liaden Universe" novels, or Selina Rosen's "Queen Of Denial", you will definitely enjoy this book! It's going on my "keeper" shelf, the place for my special comfort books and the ones that I know I will read again and again for years to come. Don't miss this one! I HIGHLY recommend it! She has also written Wintertide (prequel to An Accidental Goddess), and Gabriel's Ghost. And she has three other novels as well, written as Linnea Sinclair. They are Command Performance, Finders Keepers, and Destiny's Game. And now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to order the rest of her books, and embark on more fabulous adventures! *happy grin* Enjoy!
