Summary: OK read
Review: On the basis of reading the reviews for the book, I decided to give it a read. I wish I had passed on it. The author just asks the reader to suspend belief far far too much.

- a very famous circus performer will drop everything to "go undercover" as a nurse to spy on her father's enemy when she hasn't spoken to her father in years after he killed her beloved horse.

- a straightlaced Marquis will completely act against his lifelong ideals and beliefs when he meets a woman who is outspoken and who is stacked.

- the Marquis is kidnapped from his own home with Bow Street runners in the house and on the property; but, the only person who sees the kidnapping is the erstwhile undercover nurse.

- the Marquis' cousin - a rakehell Earl - will encourage the Marquis to unbend and live a little by marrying a servant.

- the circus performer's father will immediately give up his quest for vengance when his daughter rides to his rescue.

...and the list goes on and on.

A pleasant enough read; but, falls into the area of an ok read that you might do better to check it out from your local library or buy it used.

Summary: glowing reviews lead to disappointment
Review: People really praised this so I thought I was in for a super read. This is the best of Britton's books, but once again, I really find problems with the male character, she is really super first 1/3 of the book, but then the story line fizzles.

She has the makings of a good writer, if she just could keep the pace better and develop the characters with a touch more reality.

Summary: Superb! Awesome! Loved It!
Review: Setting - Early 1800's(?) London --- Alexander Drummond, the Marquis of Warrick, is no saint, yet being descended from a long line of rakes, he has vowed to try to change that perception and does his best to not dally with the fairer sex, nor accost maids in his employ. Now he needs a woman! He needs an extraordinary woman to act as nursemaid to his hellion of a daughter. Enter Mary Callahan - and believe you me - let the howling begin! Ms. Britton has crafted one of the most memorable, outlandish, impertinent and lovable heroines I have ever seen!

Nothing in Alexander, heir to a dukedom's noble upbringing could have prepared him for the irreverent wise-cracking, but luscious looking applicant for the job. Armed with a fake letter of recommendation and sent by her father to infiltrate the Marquis' home Charlotte was doing all in her power to blow the interview, simply by being herself. It took me a while to read through this interview as I was rolling on the floor from laughing so much! Charlotte, had no intention of taking the job until she found out what it paid. At the unheard of amount of a pound a week, she just couldn't turn that down, figuring she could stay on for at least a couple of weeks. What she didn't figure on was falling for her employer!

Ms Britton has written an absolutely outrageously funny book that simply takes my breath away. Fans of Pamela Britton - you simply MUST get this book! It surely is one of THE BEST books I have read this year. Written with tongue-in-cheek, I swear I think I must have laughed out loud on practically every page...this book was an absolute hoot! But lest you think it was pure comedy, you would be wrong, for it surely was a LOVE story and believe me this is one that you simply MUST READ. You'll laugh, you'll cry at the impossibility of the match vs. true love, and it will definitely make you cry and sigh with pleasure at the end! BRAVO Ms. Britton this was a superb book that is definitely going to be on my keeper shelf!!!!

Summary: Be tempted yourself and pick up this book!!!
Review: This book was wonderful!!!! I absolutely adored the characters and enjoyed their struggle to fight the attraction between each other, which made it all the better when they finally had to give in to their feelings. The dialogue throughout was so witty, I was constantly laughing outloud. Buy this one....it's quite an enjoyable read!! I am definitely looking forward to reading Ms. Britton's next book, "Scandal"!

Summary: A Fun Read!!
Review: This was a very fun read. It didn't make it onto my keeper shelf (I just don't have that much room since I have to move every three years) but I would recommend it as it is a funny, light read.

Alexander Drummond, Marquis of Warrick has a family past that he will live down. He won't be like his ancestors by seducing the servants. He's had no problem with this until he comes face to face with Mary. Mary is a commoner and there to take care of his daughter but he still finds himself thinking about her, dreaming about her...well, you get the picture.

Mary may be a commoner but she is anything but common. Actually she's a trick ride for a circus who just so happens to have a pet monkey Abu and now no thanks to her good for nothing father a nurse for a real little brat. Oh, yeah her boss is making her think things a proper young lady should never think. Never mind that the words that come out of her mouth are rather...colorful!

Can two different people find love despite their station in life?

Colorful characters as well as a different and fun plot made this a fun light read. I highly recommend Ms. Britton as an author to add to your summer reading list.

Summary: exciting Regency romance
Review: Though he hoped to be different then his not so illustrious ancestors, Lord George Alexander Drummond feels he is just as much a rake as any of them. Still, Alex tries to avoid the infamous family label of "Wicked Wainridge" that has been worn by generations of his blood. Thus in 1816 he joins Customs in an effort to decimate the Hollowbrook smugglers and because of his family reputation succeeds much greater than anyone could imagine.

Smuggler Tobias Brown wants revenge, which he feels he can achieve when he reads an ad that Alex placed in the papers seeking to hire a nurse to care for his running wild child Gabby. Tobias sends his widowed daughter Mary Callahan to apply for the job. Though insolent and obviously not interested in this job, Alex hires Mary because of how well she handles out of control Gabby. Though Alex swore no more trysts, he and Mary fall in love. However, she is a mole in his household and he knows that scandal will earn him the all time worst reputation any family member ever had.

TEMPTED is an exciting Regency romance starring several intriguing protagonists especially Mary, her father and his daughter. The lead couple is an odd duo, but in many ways fit the sub-genre rules especially Alex. The commoner Mary is refreshing as her independence and feistiness seems appropriate for her station in life. The story line contains a suspense subplot, but the novel clearly belongs to the cast as each in their way is TEMPTED beyond what is expected of any of them.
