Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Hilarious: Absolutely one of the best Review: After reading the glowing reviews for *Tempted* I decided to buy it. Fortunately, I wasn't disappointed. This book is absolutely hilarious, emotional, and such a great read. Alex and Mary were so great together. I loved Mary's personality. I'll more likely end up re-reading again. It's now on my "Greatest romance reads" list. I really didn't want it to end and now I need to find a book that will at least be half as good as *Tempted* I'm absolutely ready for her next book *scandal* with Rein esp. after reading the preview.

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Run and Buy, Promptly! Review: Anybody who is a fan of romance novels, particularly Regencies really should try it out. The characters are so well-written that they do feel like friends you've known forever, you care about them and become completely wrapped up in their world. Britton's use of different dialects was *stunning* (and for that alone, makes the book worth its weight in gold). Britton is funny as hell, but proves her mettle as an author by exploring the characters flaws and psyche, resulting in some really heart-breaking moments. What is especially well-done is that Britton really pushes the traditional boundaries of the genre.... It's everything you want and love in a romance, but not staid and routine. The characters and plot become so much more developed, and are so deftly handled, I'd give this book 6 stars if I could. It's going up on the bookshelf of "favorites" for me (and I'm picky about what goes on that particular shelf). While reading this, I became particularly enamored of the cousin, the very wicked but sensual Rein is apparently getting his own book. I, for one, cannot wait!! I haven't read Britton's other books, but am ordering them pronto.

Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: another miss Review: I bought all the Britton books because I saw such glowing words about this writer in the review here. Wow, what happened. Maybe they read only the first 50 pages, for once again, the book starts out grand, but her lack of making characters you really care about hurts her strong effort. Mary, her lead, was not as stupid as her other heroine in the books (some are REALLY STUPID - you just really want to KICK THEM). SO she is showing improvement there. But she is so nasty, shrewish. Just as you started to warm to her the character really turns me off. And that is so sad. This writer shows so much promise, she it's like this is trying too hard to impress, and misses the boat because of it.Worse, I see little improvement in her male lead. Again, she seems to be copying Anne Stuart's bad boys, but she needs to really sit down and study WHY Stuart does it so well and she fails. Yeah, make them bad, but never forget to make the reader CARE about them. He is so uptight, pompous, downright overbearing, mean spirited...sigh...it just makes the effort unbelievable. There is no reason for these people to care for each other, no romance, so real compulsion for love, other than Ms. Britton decides this is how it should be. If someone could actually get Britton to sit down and study Anne Stuart find out where she is missing, then she might make it. As is, she keeps shooting herself in the foot and readers will soon not bother. I read every books by her this weekend, and see no improvement in craft, so strengthen in voice. She is making the same mistakes, book after book.

Review: I have no idea what made me buy this book, but I can't tell you how glad I am that I did. This book had all the elements that I love in a story. Humor, rags to riches, adventure. WONDERFUL!! I loved it.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: It's a keeper Review: I loved the characters. Yeah, the plot is outrageous but Britton pulls it off because of the characters. I adore the fact that they stayed consistent and true to themselves yet I was convinced that they would find a way to be happy and married.
Sure, from the moment she walks into an interview with a Lord and doesn't try to hide her smart mouth, low-born Mary is over the top -- usually on purpose. But because she's such a intelligent, loving, larger-than-life woman, you know she'll thrive where ever she ends up. Alex, the marquis in question, redeems himself again and again, as he learns to be worthy of her.
Golly I love this book! Thank you for writing it, Ms. Britton.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A Wonderful Historical Romance Full of Wit and Comedy. Review: I loved this book. The heroine, Mary, is a genuinely amusing, strong-minded woman who deserves to find true love and acceptance. She meets her match in Alex, a Marquis who is determined to not follow in his lecherous father's footsteps. And yet, he's very tempted to seduce Mary, who he has hired to be his daughter's nurse. The plot takes many fun, unexpected turns and you can tell Pamela Britton really did her research. She also has a great ear for dialogue. If you love historical romances, this is one to try, even if you fear you've read the same plot over and over again. Britton writes very well and knows how to set up and engaging story.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A Wonderful Author! Review: I'm back on Amazon to write my second review ever and once again it's for a Pamela Britton book. I discovered this author by accident and all I can say is THANK GOODNESS. If you, like me, have become tired of some of the "tried and true" romance authors out there, try Pamela Britton. If you, like me, like to laugh out loud and then cry, try Pamela Britton. Tempted is a book that held me from the first page. Mary is a heroine who will make you laugh. When she arrives at the hero's doorstep, you'll wonder how two people from such different worlds could ever get together. But that's the fun of the story. Watching Mary captivate Alex was some of the best story telling I've read in recent years. Wow. I am sincerely impressed. Scandal is next and I can't wait!! By the way, I noticed that one reviewer said the book "fizzles." I don't know how much merrit you should put in a reviewer who reads all five of an authors books when she clearly doesn't like her work only to come to Amazon to say nasty things. Seems supicious to me.
